176  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Another Environment Question: Greenhouses on: 2007 April 03, 22:29:41
Good idea....will try carpeting later tonight.

Talk about sloppy programming. Sheesh.

I DO use less whiny (and okay, Farmer John was not not whiny by maxian standards, but certainly by mine), and the sprinklers are fine (checked that first).

And there's no compost or empty plots. I have nothing else in there.

178  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Another Environment Question: Greenhouses on: 2007 April 03, 14:36:05
The thread about Red Green reminded me of something I ran into  recently:

I've got a farmer Sim - worked his butt off to maximize gardening badge (and was even a plant sim for a while until I got bored with it). He owns a farm and vegetable stand....good business, very popular. Once he got into his stride, all plants and trees were constantly thriving, and he was able to take care of minor needs quite quickly. As late fall approached, he fertilized and planted inside the greenhouse. Those plants were almost instantly thriving as well...but I would keep catching Farmer John whining about completely depleted environment scores. And yes, all the plots were used...Maxian grow lights added...

WTF? What am I missing about the greenhouse goodness?

An oldie but a goodie from Simply Styling (and yes, this is listed in Causal):

I'm not entirely certain why you built the house at University and moved it to Bluewater....?
182  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Broken Whore can't cook fish on: 2007 March 31, 13:45:44
Um....are you using a pre-seasoned fridge? Try a Maxian one.
183  TS2: Burnination / Planet K 20X6 / Re: Questions in prep for Death By Freewill Challenge on: 2007 March 30, 14:45:09
mass death "incident":

Too bad you can't make poisoned drinks or juice, Jim Jones style. I am now imagining sims standing around drinking, and dropping dead around each other.

Will there be points if multiple sims die in one day?

I've been running this for about a week with no ill effects.

I do agree however, with the desire to have an indicator of some sort....one of my teens came home late one night and started playing the piano badly...and loudly...before I realized she was home. Daddy wasn't pleased...LOL
185  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Get Over It, Already! on: 2007 March 18, 15:07:14
But there is no body.

Which is too danm bad, really. I think it would be cool to have a police detective come to the house, have CSI swarming around the body, and actually haul away another sim if there's murder involved. And then they could have a REAL funeral, with mourners and coffins and black clothing...and THEN all the fuss would be over and there would be no more annoying mourning sims.

Or maybe I've been watching too many cop shows.
186  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Seasons: What mods are you already begging for? on: 2007 March 17, 01:22:09
I think I finally figured out what i would like - that hasn't already been so awesomely attended to.

I would LOVE to be able to grow/tend/spray/harvest FLOWERS and HERBS. I'm tired of veggies and would love to sell a bunch of basil or dahlias. Can you imagine how sparkly the food would be then?

On a related note...is there any way to make the strawberry plants LOOK like strawberry plants, the cucumber plants look like cuc plants, etc? I hate that everything looks like pole beans or tomatoes.

Okay, okay, I'm probably asking for more realism than Maxis can provide, I know...I just....sigh...long for more perfection in the idyllic world of Seasons....

TIA

I noticed that Pepper Punch is missing too - I THINK it gives an energy boost?

jfade? is it time for  v 1.2?
188  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: How do I make art appreciate? on: 2007 March 14, 23:47:31
I'm not certain how this will work long term - but it's worth a try:

I noticed that there's a bed from 4esf that has (according to Sims 2 Categorizer) the following price specs:

initial cost - 300
initial depreciation - 450
daily depreciation - 300
depreciation limit  - 1200

Now I know that if I use that bed and delete it a day or so later, it makes me a quick 900 simolians. I don't know whether it does a long-term appreciation, since I tend to use this bed as a short-term fix for poor sims. However, I wonder if adjusting the depreciation costs to above initial price might not do what we need.

I'll experiment on my end...
189  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: New graphical glitches on: 2007 March 12, 22:01:12
To save your sims, try packaging the lots...then when you reinstall them, only choose the lot and the family. BE CERTAIN you don't load in any of the extra people who might be along for the ride, though. (I borked a favorite lot because my Sim had invisibile friends.)

190  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Jumping the OCD Mailman on: 2007 March 11, 14:15:05
So this has been going on since OFB, but I haven's played this lot in ages and just put a new version into my new neighborhood. The mailman jumps and does no action other than circling the mailbox and trying again. And again. And again.

I've tried moving the mailbox and trashcan, deleting the mailman (I've raptured about a dozen Pao Mellons in the last few days), reloading the game, the lot, rebooting, etc.

This is the only lot that's ever had this problem, and because I really do like it, I'd rather not destroy it and rebuild from scratch. So...

How do I debug this one lot? Will testing cheats help me isolate what's happening?

Thanks in advance.
191  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Bathroom envy on: 2007 March 09, 06:33:53
Shot in the dark here:

Could it possibly have something to do with which language or which country's version? I have the US version...and while bathrooms are wildly popular with my sims, I have NEVER seen that thought bubble, no less a swarm of them.

Note: I'm not running BUY.

::::shrug::::
192  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / NOT a Seasons crashing problem on: 2007 March 05, 17:07:41
But it is a crashing problem of sorts.

Since January 21 (I don't know why I remember the date, but I do), I have reloaded Pets seven times. I can play successfully the day before and close down properly, and then the next day, the program will simply NOT load. I move my CC, uninstall, then reinstall.

As I said, this has happened seven times. Now each time before this last, I've blamed CC that I downloaded, isolating, cleansing, and purging as needed (I sound bulemic). This time, there was NO computer activity other than a routine  email check between shutting down last night and attempting to open up this afternoon.

I'm on WinXP with Visiontek Radeon 9600SE graphics card, 1.0 gHz speed, OODLES of HD space and over a gig of memory.

What might be causing this conflict? It's almost as though something edits the startup routine that makes it stop before it starts...

Thanks in advance.
193  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / I need a demon. on: 2007 February 13, 06:39:40
(Moderator: Please move this topic as required.)

I don't know how many of you are fans of Kids in the Hall, a brilliant sketch-comedy troupe from Canada who were prolific in the 1990s....whether you know them or not, you'll appreciate this clip:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xWlsYWC2pCs

Now I show you this, because I need a demon for my Sims. I am NOT a modder - so I won't be building it. But I hope that someone out there might be interested in this little project.

The specs:
- Must look an awful lot like the KITH demon
- Must sit on the floor and a shelf
- Must modify mood and/or aspiration (what's the point of having a demon if he doesn't do any good? After all, he feeds on negativity).
- Should probably shout out random insults upon viewing/clicking (should be dialog window...something like "[Sim Name], your head is a boil. You suck worms. I hate your feeeeet!"). These could be from the sketch or made up. (Perhaps inspired by Blackadder or Chef!?)

Any takers?

Thanks for considering this project...
Kim
194  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Houses. I need 'em build. And I suck at building. </3 on: 2007 February 07, 18:35:54
I build boatloads of houses - from starters to sprawlers - but I never upload them anywhere, because everyone's got restrictions about custom content, and I use LOTS of pay stuff (thanks to the Booty).  I also have little patience for cleaning up the Sim2Pack of all the unused recolors. What a bother! I am sure it's important, but oy vey.

So here's the deal: I can send fully loaded houses or empty shells (with wallpaper) or both. I have modern and traditional homes, from studios to 3-4 bedroom homes. My speciality is taking real-life homes and translating them for the Sims. Lately, I've been working with books on innovative architecture with tremendous results (better than the cookie cutter house plan sites online).

Let me know what you want....and give me a day or two to pack 'em up.

Kim

195  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Clothing Organization - and PLEASE don't send me to SimPE!!! on: 2007 February 07, 05:27:37
I'd call it The Laundromat.
196  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Clothing Organization - and PLEASE don't send me to SimPE!!! on: 2007 February 04, 08:01:30
jfade, you are my HERO! ::::strikes up the band and ticker tape parade:::::

Your list of probable features looks terrific. The other feature that would be of interest to me is the skin/mesh matching. Perhaps you can provide a way to examine a mesh and see a list (picture?) of associated skins? And on the flip side, a utility to find skins unmatched to meshes would be good too.

I would willingly be a tester, obviously.

Thanks!

197  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: FUBAR'ed restaurant prices on: 2007 February 02, 06:09:46
I have the same issue, but noticed that it doesn't always happen.

Is it possible that one of the bill-paying hacks adds those lovely dining coupons to our Sims' invisible personal inventory and activates when they eat out?

(I'm not going to complain too much, however!)
198  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Clothing Organization - and PLEASE don't send me to SimPE!!! on: 2007 February 01, 06:51:05
Remember way back in the Sims 1 days when someone had created a utility to look at skins ON a model so you could see what you were deleting/recategorizing? And it helped you find skins without meshes and meshes without skins so you could do some housekeeping?

Remember?  ::::: wistful sigh ::::::

I want this for Sims 2! I have searched high and low and can't find anything even remotely useful....and SimPE has crashed my computer more than once AND prompted me to completely reload the Sims (plus expansion packs). And when I had it actually working, I couldn't get it to do what I wanted anyway.

If you say SimPE is my only option, I will have to get Stephen Colbert to put you on notice. (For the uninitiated, go to www.colbertnation.com.)

Thanks.
