Yeah, I think we're missing the "Brokeass" part of this challenge...that tub is a good reminder. There are some decent LOOKING items that are just broken. And stupidly so, I might add.
My nominees (I will get in-game pics, as the proof is in the playing)...
Vita Sims' Regatta bed, which disappears into the wall
Simplan-X's Irish Pub chair and stool, which don't have the animations for actually sitting on them
Sims Connection's OFB grocery set, which you can't actually PLACE anywhere (not sure I can get that pic)

I haven't used a snapdragon in a house in...well, I don't think I ever have. I used one once in an OFB lot early on, but just didn't notice any sizeable benefits.
I never had many birthday parties, but I do like a wedding...wish people would eat cake again.

I already have that one...and it definitely doesn't work on the cakes. It is possible that I haven't had hungry guests when buffets have been out...but I know some have grumbled about being hungry and walked off when a just-cut birthday cake was around.
Perhaps twojeffs can look at this?

I've pretty much given up having parties altogether because of this. What's the point of cake and buffets if no one wants them? I can get more socializing done on a community lot, without the bother of cleaning up a mess.
There is probably something in the attraction levels...I don't recall this being such a problem pre-Seasons, so I wonder if there's something about the fridges and their sparkly food routine that causes this. I also wonder if it's more of a problem with or without produce.

I have a set of defaults I like..reasonably normal looking, slightly less ashen colorations, some body hair and nipples. I have NO idea who made them, however...the file names are 'mydefaultnudesmale' and 'mydefaultnudesfemale'. If anyone can identify...that would be cool.
And the only other skins I have are those included with some of the Made-Up Animals...which I don't use except on that made-up animal.

Agreed. Apparently there's some sort of magic that happens that won't let a package get more squishified than it's suppsoed to (yeah, there is actually some computer process that does that, but it's Greek to me, so ...'magic".)
Also, I have successfully run this on my lot catalog and neighborhood files...not as much compression, but a noticeable improvement in speed. My game now loads in under 6 minutes (used to be 10), and maybe it's just me, but it seems that lots load a tad faster from the neighborhood screen.
Of course, it could be the drugs.

We had a conversation about this earlier (can't recall the thread), but it boiled down to two things:
1. Sprinklers (mentioned above)
2. Floor tiles under the dirt. Yeah. TOTALLY counterintuitive. But I use a gravel-like floor tile which I spread on the greenhouse floor, THEN, using moveobjects_on, place the garden patches.

The worst part of feeEssen's stuff is that in THEORY, she's got some good ideas...some of her kids' stuff and the organ SHOULD work and SHOULD be hella-cool. But They're just not. I even tried to recolor one item, to see if it was just a crap-ass texture, and it's not. The meshes are...well....in a class by themselves, really. Judges, please consider a special award just for her!

Witch...I did! I followed his instructions to remove, load, close, and add....I think I'll try that sequence again....stay tuned.
ETA: Just did the sequence again...no change. I THINK this started before twjeff's new controller; I believe I had noticed that the original painting wasn't working right and decided to ban kids so I could use a particular painting.
ETA after reloading the new CEP (seemed like a longshot at the time...but what the hell, I'll try anything): It worked. I don't know why a reload would work, but it worked.
Thanks, all.
Still wish I knew what caused it though.

TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Picture Imperfect - Solved, thanks!

Okay, this one has me stumped.
Up until a few days ago, I had available to me many recolors of the Lady in Red, Bella Squared, and other paintings. At some point - time specifically unknown - all EA/Maxian paintings became 'undesignable', with recolors unavailable. (No, I did not delete them. In fact, I added a few to test further.)
All other items recolor just fine - I tested Mr. Generic's Sign, the Country Comfort Corner Table, and the Majestically Medieval Double Bed, as I KNEW I had recolors for those. I also noticed that wall hangings that are NOT pictures were recolorable (Seasons pans, masks, etc.).
So it's just paintings.
I deleted ALL content downloaded since April 8 (when I last recall having a recolorable Bella)...and did a complete reboot....no change. I looked in SimPE for any clues, but I guess I don't know enough/there aren't any. There are no error logs suggesting there are any problems. I can't seem to force any errors on the objects...they are simply nondesignable.
ANY ideas?

TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: What do you build into your houses?
|

My houses are inspired by innovative RL architecture, so they often have closets for aspiration items simply to keep the flow of the original. Garages, decks, pools, etc. are all dependent upon the design I'm recreating.
Other things I try to make sure every house has:
- a bathroom near the door for visitors (and locked doors for 'family' bathrooms..can't have visitors nosing in the medicine cabinets, after all!)
- multiple 'creativity' items...as a music room or an art studio
- the Lady Who Hates Critters (visitor controller); I like animals, just not in my game
- Romance and popularity Sims get indoor hot tubs..usually a plant-filled conservatory of some sort
- Sims that wind up in a science-related career get a laboratory
- if possible, one bathroom should be large enough for a sunken bath/hot tub...for a spa sort of feel
- a handful of controllers, which I keep in closets
Other than that, every house is different....and depend upon the overall design scheme, the personalities of the homeowners, and their interests.

I just had something odd happen -but NOTHING shows up in error logs about it...so I'd say the game doesn't think it's an error:
Whiny Farmer John has been happily working his farm for about 3-4 sims days, coming home on time and all that good stuff. Well, today, he turned into a Plantsim while at his farm (community lot)...finished off his work day, and headed home. When he left for work, his lovely wife was pregnant - due to deliver the next day.
Well...Farmer John never came home.
And what's worse is that his wife never gave birth. In fact, after a shower, she changed back into normal clothes and LOOKED like she'd lost the baby, although she still walked around like she was carrying quints (in that lovely way Sims do).
After FOUR days of disappearance (and no way for me to go back to the community lot...it was 'locked out'....I FINALLY gave up and moved the wife into the family bin. As I wasn't sure of the cause, I bulldozed both farm and house. I then rebooted the game.
Lo and behold, the thumbnail showed both of them....hope springing eternal, I sent them to a new home....and before I could click anything, the lovely lady gave birth to a bouncing baby boy.
Happy family...John buys another farm and goes to work. Note that he's still a plantsim at this time.
Works a day...happy plants...heads home around 8pm.
Well....back at the house.....after an exhausting day of bottle feedings and diaper changes, our lovely lady played piano until 2am. Guess who never came home......
So...I've quit the game and have come here to report. I can only assume it's because he's a plantsim OR because he became one on a community lot....I wish I had any error logs to report, but nothing signalled ANYTHING that this was an error.
ETA a few days later: Neighborhood has now gone up in a big firey ball visible from outer space. Apparently this whole plantsim thing was a VBT.

TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Another Environment Question: Greenhouses
|

So after an evening of experimentation, I can confirm that both the floor addition and the real wall methods both raise the scores enough to keep Mr Whiny Pants happy. To keep the look at the farm realistic, I used a gravel floor from Komosims...looks like just about every greenhouse I've ever been in.
Thanks to all for information/ideas.
