1  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Cracking Open Shaders_Win32.precomp? (for better shaders!) on: 2019 February 11, 15:03:12
Try tracking down Shimrod, or talk on the Mod The Sims forum and ask who might do this stuff.
https://reshade.me/ might have something.
Have a read of this: https://mega.nz/#!NhB1GawZ!h0uN26NoVFSrXAswWsjxNW9dm42oR0luWZwhqhWltnA  (Word doc)

Thanks for the links- we were having a bit of a discussion here: http://modthesims.info/showthread.php?t=623606

In this case, we're interested in the game's internal shaders- if we could get them opened up, things like the skin and hair shaders could potentially be edited.

Shaders and graphics aren't really things I know anything about.

No problem, I figured it was worth an ask, thanks for the answer.

Don't know where to ask, but I figure this is one of the more knowledgeable TS3 forums out there.

Me and a couple of other simmers were talking about the Shaders_Win32.precomp file (located in the Installation folder, under Game/Bin/), which apparently contains the shaders for TS3.

Apparently there is a continuity of the precomp file between TS3, TSM and TS4: (https://forums.thesims.com/en_US/discussion/796772/shaders-win32-precomp-info)

@J. M. Pescado, any idea of how this file might be opened? There was a bit of discussion happening here: (http://modthesims.info/showthread.php?p=5496556&posted=1#post5496556)

If a way is figured out of opening the file, there might be some potential opportunities for better shaders for TS3, much like what has happened to TS2.
