Thanks J.M. I found it.

Okay, now that I've got moving the child taken care of, Rachel had another baby. I didn't want this baby, so I killed it. Is there any way to delete all existence of the child out of the game, such as deleting the child out of the family tree, and deleting memories of the child?
3  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Other Ways To Move In Sims? on: 2007 June 09, 02:18:55
The child is still only a toddler, for people who want to know. Thanks for submitting ideas on how to move the child in.

Kill the child with fire, then have Jim raise him with the Ressurect-O-Nomitron.

I like this route too, but then again I don't want my family getting "X Killed" memories all over the place.
4  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Other Ways To Move In Sims? on: 2007 June 07, 22:41:47
Rachel in my Lothario family had a kid with Jim in my Yarvis family. The problem is that they aren't married, and they are on two separate lots. Right now, the child is on Rachel's lot, but I would like him on Jim's lot. But I don't want to have to move Rachel into Jim's lot, and then move her back out again, just so Jim can have the kid. Is there any way to move the child into Jim's lot without having to move Rachel into his lot? Like some hidden interaction or mod? I would even be able to go into SimPE and edit my Sim files, if someone gave me instructions on how to do it.

Thanks,
Orbit

In reply to the first post in this thread,

I totally agree with all of Jade's points, and I think that there should be a central wiki that is totally user-driven, such as the users submit content, the users vote on what they think the wiki should consist of, how it should be organized, etc. instead of the site administrators making all of the decisions about the wiki. The wiki should be easier to use and easier to find than the currently existing MTS2 wiki.  This wiki should consist of:

  • Links and repostings of tutorials already made on various websites
  • New tutorials that people write
  • Information about the file formats that TS2 uses, information that would help users create new modding tools
  • Comments and explanations about various parts of TS2 game files, such as what some BHAVs do in the objects.package of the TS2 games
  • General helpful information about various parts of TS2 game files, such as what to do and not do when modding a BHAV in an objects.package
  • Any other information that the TS2 modding community would like to be put on the wiki

I strongly emphasize that the database should be a wiki because it is the only way that one can ever hope to achieve a totally user-driven website.  If enough people will support me and help me maintain it, I volunteer to create a wiki on my website and have it serve as the new database for the TS2 modding community.
6  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Binary Breakdown of TS2 .package files on: 2007 January 05, 23:51:36
I was wondering if anyone could give me information about the binary code breakdown of TS2 .package files, and how I could edit them outside of SimPE by editing the binary code.  I also need to know the format of the binary-encoded characters.  For starters, I would like to use this information to edit the neighborhood names in the NeighborhoodManager.package.

Jordi, please explain junction point changing to me, or point me to a web page about it.
8  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Registry Keys Created By TS2 on: 2006 December 09, 15:19:54
Thanks for all the replies.  But now I have a new question.  Does anyone know how to change the path that TS2 looks for your data folder?  For instance making it so that instead of looking in "My Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2" for you game data, it looks in "C:\ts2_game_data".
9  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Registry Keys Created By TS2 on: 2006 December 08, 23:38:23
I've searched everywhere in the TS2 website, and I can't find it.
10  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Registry Keys Created By TS2 on: 2006 December 08, 23:21:54
Well, I've screwed up my TS2 installation pretty bad messing around with registry keys.  Basically, I backed up all of the registry entries I thought TS2 made, then I deleted them.  Well, I went into TS2 and it gave me a message about uninstalling EPs.  So I hit quit.  Then I restored my backups and went into TS2 again.  Well, this time TS2 wouldn't run because it said that I had uninstalled expansion packs, and to reinstall them.  So I put in my TS2 CD and it booted into the installer. Once I got done entering my license key, it booted into the TS2 OFB installer.  I thought that was weird, so I quit the installer.  So I decided to go and uninstall all of my expansion packs.  It turns out that when I exited the installer, TS2 deleted all of the TS2 Original core files, along with the OFB core files and my game data.  So I wasn't presented an option to uninstall OFB or TS2 Original in my Add/Remove Programs, so I just uninstalled all of my EPs and put in the TS2 Original CD.  So I got to the part where you start the install and I got a popup saying that egrc had closed unexpectedly.  So now I'm trying to figure out why egrc (the Registration program) won't start properly, which I think has to do with left-over registry keys from not formally uninstalling TS2 Original and OFB.  So I was wondering if anyone here had a list of all of the registry entries TS2 and all of its EPs make, so I can delete the left over registry entries and have a normal installation.

14  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: The Future Of MATY Auto Updating...... Rsync. on: 2006 October 15, 02:31:37
Well, I guess you'll have to change your Download folder layout if you want to use this.
15  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: The Future Of MATY Auto Updating...... Rsync. on: 2006 October 15, 01:46:12
The backup files don't have an extension of .bak, they have an extension of .off (for ease of use with the Sims2pack Clean Installer).  There really wasn't 86 bytes written to your computer, since Rsync didn't update any of your mods, there was just 86 bytes of data (what files you have, etc.) transferred to your computer.  The program is not able to navigate subfolders within the Downloads folder, but you can add a seperate Rsync command to your update-hacks.bat by following the steps below:

1.) Right click update-hacks.bat in the folder you installed the MATY Pack in.
2.) Find the line
Code:
.\rsync.exe -vtrzb --suffix=.off --update --progress --existing "%1%2%3" "%4"
3.) Hit the ENTER button to start a new line.
4.) On the new line type:
Code:
.\rsync.exe -vtrzb --suffix=.off --update --progress --existing "%1%2%3" "%4(your download' folder's subdirectory here)/"

So if you had a subfolder named qqq_hacks in your Downloads folder, you would put in the new line:
Code:
.\rsync.exe -vtrzb --suffix=.off --update --progress --existing "%1%2%3" "%4qqq_hacks/"
5.) Repeat for every subfolder you want to automatically update, and then run update-start.bat.

EDIT:

Could you please post the full path (to Windows) for your Downloads folder and the contents of your update-start.bat?

The problem with the Director's Cut is it has to be "cut" before you can use it.  With the MATY Rsync, I can put the hacks on the Rsync as soon as you make them.  Another problem with the Director's Cut is that you get hacks you don't want.  With the MATY Rsync, you only get hacks you want.  And about porting it, I'd rather it stayed on my server, I have unlimited bandwidth.  And setting up Rsync requires a Linux server and more time and frustration than you or your webhost would ever want to put into it.  I don't mean to sound mean, I'm saying this with good will  Smiley.
18  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / The Future Of MATY Auto Updating...... Rsync. *Rsync Server Now Updates Itself!* on: 2006 October 14, 23:12:20
Pets hacks now availiable!  To update Pets hacks using Rsync, change your MATY version code in update-start.bat to "pets" and run update-start.bat.

The MATY Rsync server now updates itself twice a day at 12 PM (EST) and 7 PM (EST)!  So now Rsync will always be updated!

Introduction
----------------------

If you're like me, then you find find the process of updating hacks for new EPs very tedious and time-consuming.  I have so many hacks that it used to take me 2 hours to update all my hacks.  So I went searching for an auto updating solution and I found it..... Rsync.  I was also surprised when Rsync updated 20 of my hacks that needed updating, and I had no clue that they needed to be updated.

What is it?
---------------------

Rsync is a file-transfer and synchronizing program.  I have set up a Linux server and set up a MATY Rsync on that server so everyone could easily update their hacks.  And I have provided a MATY Pack for Windows so everyone could easily install the MATY Rsync.  The files on the MATY Rsync are the official ones and have not been tampered with.

I'm Not So Sure About This......
---------------------

There are several advantages to using Rsync versus the traditional download method.  Transferred bits are compressed and decompressed on the fly, for fast file transfers.  Also, only changed parts of the files are downloaded, which, again, cuts down on file transfer time.  Rsync also updates your hacks with one click of a button, which is much faster than manually downloading all of the hacks and extracting them.  Rsync also automatically backs up your files, so you can restore to a older version if a newer version is causing problems.  You don't need to make any modifications to your downloads folder to use Rsync.  Also, Rsync will only update the hacks currently installed in your Downloads folder, and it won't install new ones.  I have also personally tested this and it works.

Will the MATY Rsync Be Kept Up To Date?
----------------------

Yes, I will keep it up to date and maintain it.  I have also taken time to make a very complex auto updating script for the server, so the Rsync server is always up to date.  The Rsync server updates itself twice a day at 12 PM (EST) and 7 PM (EST).

Wow, Where Do I Get This?
----------------------

You can download the MATY Pack, which contains everything you need to get up and running with the MATY Rsync at http://www.zone45244.com/matypack/matypack.zip.  You can extract it anywhere on your hard drive.

Note: If the zone45244.com website looks suspicious to you, it's not.  It's just going through some renovations right now.

How Can I Install This?
---------------------

There are detailed instructions on installing this in the README.TXT file included in the .zip file.  There are also customization instuctions.

What If I Have Problems Or Questions?
----------------------

Reply to this thread and I will answer them as soon as I can.

Notes
------------------

You can currently only update your hacks if you have OFB (from the /ffs/ofb/hacks/ directory on the MATY Rsync), NL (from the /ffs/nl/hacks/ directory on the MATY Rsync), or Pets (from the /ffs/pets/hacks/ directory on the MATY Rsync).

News
-------------------
10/23/06 11:29 PM EST: I have taken time to make a very complex auto updating script for the server.  Thus, the server now updates itself twice a day at 12 PM (EST) and 7 PM (EST).  I also updated all the hack directories on the server.

10/14/06 3:25 PM EST: The MATY Rsync server is not dead.  See above.

9/19/06 7:07 EST: Updated the Pets hack directory.

9/18/06 6:52 EST: Updated all hack directories on server, plus added Pets hacks in the /ffs/pets/hacks/ directory.  To update Pets hacks using Rsync, change your MATY version code in update-start.bat to "pets" and run update-start.bat.

9/14/06 7:55 PM EST: Updated a couple hacks to the versions for the newest patches.  Some of the versions for the old patches were on the server instead of the versions for the newer patches.  Don't worry if you updated before this, Rsync won't downgrade your files if they're newer than the ones on the server.
19  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: System Restore? on: 2006 August 25, 20:06:07
Go to Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Backup . Insert your CD(s). Hit "Next" then check "Restore From A Backup" and hit "Next".  Backup will guide you from there.  This is assuming your CD is an actual PC backup (it isn't a Windows Install CD is it?).  Or you can do it the hard way by booting from your CD by inserting your CD then restarting your computer.
20  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / No More Social Bunny (Version 1.0) on: 2006 August 19, 14:57:11
No more Social Bunny, period.

From the included readme.txt:
Quote
"No More Social Bunny" Version 1.0 By Orbit45244
Made For OFB, probably works with FFS
Tested With OFB & OFB Op1 & OFB Op2

Description:
Makes it so that the Social Bunny will no longer come when your Sim's social need is low.  Because if your Sim can't interact with one of three hundred people in your neighborhood, that's sad.

Note:
This has been in my game for months now, and it hasn't caused any problems, so it probably works.

Installation:
Extract to your "Downloads" folder in your TS2 Folder.

21  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / "Having Affair With ____" Bugs on: 2006 June 28, 21:34:04
Well, I have a Sim who's spouse died.  As soon as I got her to fall in love again, she got the "Had An Affair With ____" even though her past spouse is already dead.  I think J.M.'s "marriage-postmortum" hack causes this and the "Get caught cheating on (dead sim)" fear, because this doesn't happen without the hack.

Help?
22  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: CD HOT - screen frozen on: 2006 June 27, 00:09:27
It sound like your computer & computer chips are getting old.  If you reformatted your hard drive, then this could have excellerated the aging of your chips, causing them to slowly stop working.  You can tell if your computer is getting old if the OS starts running slowly, or if Sims 2 runs more slowly the more times you start it up.  If you're running on a brand new computer I can't tell you why this is happening.  As for the CD getting hot, this should be a cause for concern because your CD drive could be putting so much stress on your CD that it could cause it to break.
23  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: "Sim Has Died On Another Lot" Bugs on: 2006 June 24, 13:10:45
So, does this bug have to be there for something to work?  (For instance, there was some code changed in OFB that makes the "Sim Has Died On Another Lot" bug mandatory for the grave to be moved.)  Or is this just another bug in Maxis coding?
24  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / "Sim Has Died On Another Lot" Bugs on: 2006 June 24, 03:45:13
Alright, first off, I have OFB with Op2.  I tried to move all the graves off of the Goth's lot (the Maxis one) and onto a community lot using the "Move All Graves" interaction.  For every one of the graves, I got a "Sim Has Died On Another lot [...] Will Return To Place Of Death" and then a message saying that the grave won't be moved until I save the lot. I even got one for Mortimer, who died of old age on the lot.  So I'm thinking something's wrong with my game.  And I don't want to lose all of the graves forever, so I haven't saved and gone to the community lot to see if the graves are there.  All of the hacks that affect death are Awesome, all updated for OFB.  No error log was produced.

Help....

I think you need a router to use WiFi with the DS and PSP.
