1  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Factory / Re: TSM for TS3 on: 2011 June 22, 18:31:07

Dear God, do the people shout "Howdy, neighbor!" to each other unironically where you live?

Are you asking God that question?  If so, did He answer?
2  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: New Patch 1.22/2.16/3.12/4.9/5.7/6.4/7.2/8.0 on: 2011 June 22, 18:12:30
My problems with patch 1.22 and how I solved them (and how I caused them, too):

First of all, I jumped right in with patching, updating mods right away, without testing as I went.  So, all in one day, I installed the patch, updated Awesomemod and Twallan, and changed my antivirus progam from the one that expired to another one.  I have the base game only.

The game loading went along swimmingly, then the fun began when I loaded a world.  First, it took forever for the items to render.  Then, the only Sims interactions were either "ask about gender preference" in one world, and "mean, scare" in another, then the Sims jumped to other rooms.  I thought it was comical at first, then decided I better track down what was causing this mess.

I found out the antivirus was checking each package file before loading (the previous virus checker had no effect on the game, so I had stopped disabling it when playing, not thinking that this one operated differently), so disabled that, which fixed that problem.

After taking out all hacks/mods, the game was back to normal, so that was where the problem had to be.  Silly me, being the forgetful old great-grandmother that I am, I forgot that I had some of Anach's old mods hiding in there, but I couldn't remember where I got them.  I did a google search and it brought me right back to here. Smiley  How wonderful - there was a thread with updated Anach mods!  After removing the old ones and putting in the updated ones I wanted, everything is working wonderfully.

I just thought I'd share in the event somebody else is as reckless/forgetful/senile as I am.  I don't care if my kids put me in a nursing home, as long as I can have my laptop and my Sims!

3  Awesomeware / Armoire of Invincibility / Re: TOOL: TS3 Recompressor on: 2011 March 15, 13:28:44

Assuming you are using a Windows machine, do the following...
1. MAKE A BACKUP!
2. Open a command prompt window.
3. Use the CD command to navigate to wherever your packages are located.
4. Run "for %f in (*.package) do s3rc -d %f" (without the quotes of course).
5. Test The Sims 3 - if it runs, MAKE ANOTHER BACKUP!

Thank you for your reply.

I neglected to say I am running Windows 7.  In any event, running this from the command line seemed to work, but only for files with with no spaces in the filename.  When it came to a file with spaces in the filename, it returned either "could not stat" or it got hung up and just sat there.  Good ol' DOS.
4  Awesomeware / Armoire of Invincibility / Re: TOOL: TS3 Recompressor on: 2011 March 14, 16:34:20
I have base game only and have been happily using this tool for speeding up loading and fixing some (store) files for use with the launcher.  I noticed the game was getting a little slow, so I ran all my CC through it and now the game will not load unless I take CC folder out.  The only thing which changed between my last use and this use is that I installed the latest base game patch.  Okay, I searched and saw that you can do s3rc -d to undo what was done.  I put s3rc file in one of my download subfiles to test if they would be fixed.  I used s3rc -d *.package and got error message "could not stat" - I saw a thread in which Mr. Pescado said you could do *.package.  So I tried it with just one file and got no error message.  Like a dummy, I did not back up my CC before compressing because it had worked like a dream before.  So, why will it not process more than one file at time?  Why will it not accept *.package?

Flame me, do your worst, just tell me how to undo what I've done without having to do 3k+ files one by one.
5  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Weird BV Neighborhood View/CC Problem - FIXED! :) on: 2007 September 26, 18:07:51
So I read on another forum something to try ...

I took out collections and downloads folders again, went into the game, re-enabled custom content (which was already enabled), then closed the game.  Then I put my downloads folder back in, and only the custom content collection .packages into the collections folder which the game had recreated and now I am loving Bon Voyage!  I sent my only created Sim on vacation at her new beach house she bought, and so far everything is working perfectly (knock on wood).  The only hacks I am using are the MATY ones recommended here, but I will add a few back at a time and see how things go.
6  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Weird BV Neighborhood View on: 2007 September 25, 22:02:59
Yes, I re-enabled CC.  Some of the custom collections still contain the items, but some have lost them.  I was wondering if there was a quick fix or if I just have to re-do them.  I thought I had read somewhere on here about downloads/collections folders should not be read only - dunno if I am remembering correctly or not, though.  I uncheck the box for read only and apply, but the very next time I go in the folder, it's checked read only again.  It's not really a major problem with the collections, just an annoyance.  At least my Sims can go on vacation now, and the streets are not in water and the houses are not in the ocean and no concrete where there should be grass.  So I am happy for small things.  Wink
7  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Weird BV Neighborhood View - update on: 2007 September 25, 15:45:07
Okay, so I uninstalled and reinstalled BV, which fixed the view problems.  Now I have a new problem.  I moved collections and downloads folder to desktop before I did the reinstallation, then moved them back after installing, but now some of my custom collections are empty.  They still have the proper icon, but don't show any items.  It seems to be random, because some of the custom collections are okay, but others are not.  What did I do wrong?  More importantly, how can I fix this?  I have 175 collection files.
8  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Weird BV Neighborhood View on: 2007 September 23, 07:47:22
Which means uninstall and reinstall, or just uninstall and use the damned BV CDs for frisbees?
9  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Weird BV Neighborhood View on: 2007 September 23, 07:05:56
It's not just the neighborhood view.  I sent a Sim on vacation for the first time, and the lot she was supposed to visit had streets where there should have been grass, plus she just got stuck in Arrive and never showed up on the lot, plus the one visitor to the lot who was already there just ran around in circles by the telephone.  I have since read somewhere that the telephone hack might be affecting some things, so I disabled them.  I have not played since I disabled that.

I am also getting an error that generates this log:

Object id: 107
name: Wants - Controller
Stack size: 7
Error: Attribute number out of range.
Iterations: 0
  Frame 6:

    from global
    Prim state: 0
    Params: 51 107 107 107    Locals:

I choose delete and the game continues, but something ain't right.

Anybody have any ideas?
10  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Weird BV Neighborhood View on: 2007 September 21, 01:29:18
I'll try that, but I guess I was just more curious as to why they are like that.  My other neighborhood views are all okay.
11  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Weird BV Neighborhood View on: 2007 September 21, 01:18:09
I searched and could not find that anybody had posted anything like this.  When I go to a vacation neighborhood, the houses and hotels and such are either in the middle of the street or in the water.  How can I fix this?
12  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Very Strange Sim on: 2006 June 06, 19:45:18
I created a sim family before any of the expansions came out, and one of them is an elder female.  Since I added Nightlife and OFB, whenever I move a sim family to a new home, or create a new sim family and move them in, she comes running into the house, madder'n hell, bitches out one of the sims in the house (that she doesn't even know!) and then runs home again.  This is completely separate to the "some visitors have arrived to welcome you to the neighborhood."

I didn't know where to post this, as it isn't really a problem, just a really really Strange Thing.  Have y'all had any Strange Things like this  happen in your games?

P.S.  I'm still an asinine airhead - guess I'll have to start making more pointless posts just to get that to change.  How many do I need to graduate to the next level?
13  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Tombstones - where'd they go? on: 2006 June 06, 19:05:53
I made a lovely cemetery (community lot) in the shopping district, but when my sims die and I click on the tombstones and get the option to move the tombstone to another lot, when I go to that lot, there are no tombstones.  Where are they going then? Huh

I have Nightlife and OFB, but no patches installed.

P.S. - How long do I have to be an asinine airhead?
14  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: The kid is stuck on the school bus! on: 2006 April 29, 01:14:07
Woot!  Karen was right!  The mailbox was blocking my lil darlin' from getting off the bus, and I figured out why... mama just got promoted and her hours changed ... she had to leave in her car to go to work at the exact time the bus brought my girl home ... The bus couldn't go where it usually does cause mama's car was in the way ... so it stopped right in front of the mailbox.  I moved the mailbox and bingo, out she came.  Phew, I am soo relieved!  Thank you all, and especially Karen, for all your helpful advice.   Grin

Thanks for the suggestion but I already had Windkeeper's fix and I still can't get rid of the school bus.  I have dl'd the MATY hack and will try that when I load up the game (during which time it is loading, I have time to watch all the afternoon soaps and the evening news - I GOTTA clean up my downloads folder!).

I already tried that, Gali - turned move objects on - but it wouldn't let me delete the bus.

Thanks for the quick answer - I'll go hunt that debugger thingie down and try it.  Grin
18  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / The kid is stuck on the school bus! on: 2006 April 28, 16:43:27
Soooo, the little darling goes to school on the bus, and since mom and dad have some free time, they go to the beach (a community lot) in their sports car and get back just before time for their daughter to come home from school.  Mama goes to work, the bus pulls up in front of the house, the nanny comes, but then the bus starts honking like it's time to go to school and she never gets off the bus.  It gets dark, the bus lights come on, and it just stays in front of the house.

Is there a relatively easy way to fix this?  I was thinking I'd have to go into another lot, get the daughter moved into that lot, then go back into the original lot to see if she is gone, then move her back home.  I am not even sure this will work.

Any ideas, anyone?

Thanks.

Has anyone figured out a way to group or sort collections files so they show up the way you want them to?  Does anyone know what information the game uses to sort them?  I'm anal, and I have loads of collections files I've made (29,531 files, 7.01 gb in downloads - making collections was a NECESSITY!).

21  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: The Best Made Celeb Sim Ever? on: 2006 March 11, 23:13:47
I have no celebs in my actual game, but I do use a couple of the facepaints/masks from them to insta-change my pre-made uglies.  This is just for those uglies I have to deal with on a daily basis and not for reproduction purposes.  Use the mind control mirror and slap a pretty mask/facepaint on them, and they are not so hard to look at.  I do this with the maid and whoever else is really ugly that comes to the house regularly.  It's quicker than sims surgery.

You know, I've often thought about how we talk about how ugly the maxis sims are - what if they are based on some of the creators of them at maxis?  That would make them feel really good, wouldn't it, that the first thing we want to do is get rid of the uglies or change them.  Has anyone seen pics of the folks who make this game?  I've played it a long time, but I've never bothered to find out anything about the people behind making it.
22  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Nekkid Pregnant Woman on: 2006 March 10, 15:58:24
Woot, I got a great laugh out of your post, Ancient Sim!  Actually, I am 58.  Nekkid is how we pronounce naked in my neck of the woods.  I sure didn't know it was kid-speak.  My 15 and 17 year old stepdaughters pronounce it "nekkid", too.  I guess it's just because we are illiterate, backwoods, suthren, trailer trash rednecks with no education.  I'll try to do better!

Arielle - still laughin' my arse off.

23  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Missing colour options on: 2006 March 10, 14:44:35
When I wanted to use the Maxis mission furniture, the thumbnails wouldn't change colors when I selected different wood and cushions, just stayed all black, but the actual furniture changed color.  BUT the colors for the chair, loveseat and couch don't match in my game - I was trying to use dark wood and green cushions, and all the cushions were a different shade of green, and none of the woods were exactly the same color.  And I have not downloaded any recolors of them.

On another note, I am no longer able to use the Maxis crib and changing table at all.  Does this mean that somebody's re-do of it that I downloaded overwrote it?  It's still in the catalog, but doesn't show up.  I guess I should run the Clean Installer and check for duplicates.     Would that fix it?
24  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Nekkid Pregnant Woman on: 2006 March 10, 14:38:11
Okay, so I brought Lisa Ramirez, a Maxis char in Bluewater, to my guy's house, they got real friendly, and she ended up pregnant by him.      She wore maternity clothes, and never even thought about getting nekkid except to bathe.  They had a butt-ugly baby, by the way, which Jimmy has custody of, since Ms. Ramirez had to go back to her family.  I left the game running all night in the hope that the social worker would come take Ms. Ugly away, but noooo, she is now a child and when I came back to my game this morning, she was sitting on the floor doing her homework.  And skilling in swimming as she did her homework, but that's a whole 'nother thang.

I may go ahead and let Henrietta get pregnant one more time, and take the nekkid hacks out.  I think I only have crammyboy's nudist one, but even so, if it affected one sim, it should affect all, shouldn't it?  I mean, I didn't even have the option to put clothes on Henrietta when I clicked on maternity, only pjs, swimwear, etc.

It's not a major deal, but it has made me curious.

25  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Nekkid Pregnant Woman on: 2006 March 10, 07:13:07
Emma:  She already had the baby so I can't take the hack out and try again unless she has another child and with a huband with one foot in the grave, I hesitate to give her any more children to raise without a father.

Mike:  She and her husband are the only created Sims in that neighborhood.  I haven't checked on any of my other pregnant Sims in other neighborhoods.  Guess I oughta do that, huh?  Gonna see what happens with a pre-existing Sim in this neighborhood, too.

Thanks for the ideas, folks.  I'm going to bed now.
