Another thing to bear in mind is that a business owner can also have a traditional job.  I have some Sims that own a business and only visit it on their days off from being Mad Scientists.

I was personally thrilled to get the max 7 skills LTW.  They both fulfilled it within 2 weeks, never missing a day of work, with no career rewards to aid them.  I do make liberal use of the Make Me Smart function of the Lot Debugger.

Oh, and thanks Avalikia, I won't worry that my neighborhood is doomed from the get go.

Without being able to look at my downloads, I think yes I do have the LTW variety mod.
79  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Lifetime want weirdness on: 2006 August 16, 16:05:41
I just this past weekend started a new neighborhood.  I did not DAC, but I did go into the occupied houses in the University and Blue Water Village subneighborhoods and evicted the Maxis characters, then deleted them from the Sim Bin, before creating 2 new Sims in CAS and moving them into their own houses.

I created these sims to have 3 bolt chemistry for each other, both are Knowledge sims, who had the original LTW to max all 7 skills.  They each lived alone until they had reached perma plat status.  I then had them fall in love and get married.

Neither one rolled a second LTW.  And the Servo I had the wife initialize didn't show a LTW until I changed her aspiration.  I tried changing the wife's aspiration to fortune and then back to knowledge, while she was fortune she had a new LTW, but once she was again knowledge, no LTW.  They are just now expecting their first (possibly only) child, so I don't know if it will affect future generations or not.

I recently cleared out most of my CC, only about 150 total files in my downloads.  I did have both TwoJeffs college adjuster and the FFS Lot Debugger on the lots at the same time and tried to reroll the LTW with each to no effect.  I am at work so don't have access to my Downloads folder, but do have most, not all of Pescado's mods, quite a few of TwoJeffs, as well as some from Inge, Squinge, Monica's email, and a few other mods, I don't remember offhand.  I do have SimPE, but other than basic tweaks to character files, I don't know how to use it very well.  I haven't made any adjustments to this neighborhood using SimPE.

Any ideas of what is going on and what to do about it would be appreciated.

The fish in Malcolm Landgrabb's fishtank were invisible in my game as well until they died, then they were visible floating at the top of the tank.  I hadn't directed him to restock the tank to begin with, he did it autonomously, and I never bothered to direct anyone to care for them,so after they died, I just deleted the fish tank.

www.simlogical.com -- get Inge's "no empty potty" mod and you'll never have to worry about it again. Smiley

But then you don't get to laugh at them when they make that disgusted face when they have to empty the potties.
82  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Who's got some good names for Servos? on: 2006 March 27, 18:39:38
I so far have only one Servo, named Data.  If, and it's a pretty big if, I activate another it will be Lore, even if it is female.
83  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Shop till you drop on: 2006 March 25, 19:34:00
I've also been getting the message about "Someone bought new clothes, buy a dresser so that you can change clothes".  When there is already one or more dressers on the lot.
84  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Cleanbots and baby bottles on: 2006 March 11, 17:28:34
Something else I've noticed Cleanbots won't pick up is punchcups.  I had one of my Uni Sims throw a party and though the Cleanbot would clean up plates placed on the floor, it did nothing with the cups that were laying on the ground right next to the plates.
85  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Missing colour options on: 2006 March 10, 18:45:53
When I wanted to use the Maxis mission furniture, the thumbnails wouldn't change colors when I selected different wood and cushions, just stayed all black, but the actual furniture changed color.  BUT the colors for the chair, loveseat and couch don't match in my game - I was trying to use dark wood and green cushions, and all the cushions were a different shade of green, and none of the woods were exactly the same color.  And I have not downloaded any recolors of them.

I've noticed the same thing about the mission furniture.  The loveseat and couch in my game seem to match alright and the living room chair, dining chair, & tables seem to match, but their are two distinct color groups between these sets.  I've also run into trouble with Sims getting hung up after eating at the mission table sitting in the matching chairs, but obviously that's not a color issue.  At least in my game this set just seems to be buggy.
86  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Post problems you've noticed, on: 2006 March 04, 23:36:18
Offering a customer a makeover (for pay) with the chair seems to do absolutely nothing. As far as I can tell, it's supposed to work like showing an item to get them interesting and start browsing it, but it doesn't do anything. They just nod and nothing happens.

After trial and error I discovered that you have to click the chair, and chose "Be Stylist," so if you only have the one Sim working you have to go back and forth from Sales to convince the customer to get a makeover, and being the stylist so that you can give the makeover.

As far as the plates on community lots, if you have a sink either in a bathroom or a breakroom, Sims will wash dishes there.

My biggest problem is that there seem to be routing problems around the new Mission style table and chairs.  Adults walk right thru the fronts of the chairs while cleaning up the dishes, and I had a child get caught between the chairs on one side of the table, and I had to use "moveobjects" to move her away from the table.

Thanks for the suggestion of using TwoJeffs college adjuster or simply changing majors.  If it ever happens again (which I'd rather it didn't) I'll give that a try.

I ended up moving him out and bulldozing the lot.  Then moved him into a starter I downloaded from Laverwinklesims, and he is fine.
88  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Maxed skills prior to entering University on: 2006 February 27, 20:49:29
.
Since I experience problem with the "deleteallcharacters" command in the past, I now always move the student that are in any University lot to the family bin prior to delete all the characters so the game knows no Sims lives in these houses anymore.

When I do that, I don't experience problems.  When I don't, the houses won't even load.

I'd actually even done that.  The first time I ever tried the deleteallcharacters command I experienced the same problem you mentioned.  Previously occupied uni housing simply wouldn't load.  So the second time I tried it i first moved everyone into the student bin.  For the previous generations of this family I've been having them live in the fraternity house, which I converted to a dorm.  But this sim I decided to put into his own house, next door to his cousin, who I placed into another previously occupied, Maxis house with no problems.

I tell you, this Sim is just goofy
89  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Maxed skills prior to entering University on: 2006 February 27, 20:35:22
Actually I did edit the house before moving him in.  I upgraded the kitchen, bought a better bed, put in a driveway, and got rid of the instruments that were on the roof of the house.
90  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Maxed skills prior to entering University on: 2006 February 27, 20:24:18
That would apply here.  I'm using La Fiesta Tech and deleted all characters when I started the Neighborhood.  I moved him into the house that was originally occupied by the band (Shifting Paradyms maybe?).  Thanks.
91  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Maxed skills prior to entering University on: 2006 February 27, 20:13:30
I ran into something last night while playing that has me completely bewildered.

I sent a 3rd generation sim to University.  He had $11,000 in scholarships, so I moved him into his own house.  All of his skills were completely maxed, since right after he became a teenager.  After he had already completed his term paper, I clicked over to his grade tab, to discover that it seemed to think he had no skill points.

Though I'm really not terribly proficient in SimPE, I checked out his file there, and from looking through the various tabs, I couldn't see anything strange, and it does show all of his skills being maxed at 10.0.

This happens to be the very first Sim I ever had display a want to buy new clothes as a toddler, and throw a sports party as a child.  Since then his younger sister, and nephew have also shown those wants during those early ages.

Is there something I can do in SimPE to correct this?  Or from within the game even?  I'm getting really tempted to scrap the neighborhood and start over from scratch.
92  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Lame Party Scoring on: 2006 February 23, 17:09:26
Unfortuanately, he was perma-platinum.  I changed him to be a fortune Sim after curing his vampirism, and his lifetime want was to earn $100,000.  Thanks to 2 chance cards he managed to hit that goal on the day he transitioned to elder.  Even by that time I was hoping he'd transition in green or red to keep his life as short as possible.  On the plus side, I'd been trying out TwoJeffs age duration hack at the time, so even transitioning in platinum he only lived another 10 days or so.
93  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Lame Party Scoring on: 2006 February 23, 17:01:29
He was a former master vampire, and I was really tired of seeing him walk around all the time with his arm in front of his face.  I wasn't sorry to lose him.  But the timing could have been better.
94  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Lame Party Scoring on: 2006 February 23, 16:32:09
Another way to guarantee a truly bad party score is to have a family member die during the party.

A couple of days ago, I had a Sim transitioning to elder.  I knew her husband was nearing the end, but had lost track of exactly what day he would die.  I threw a party, invited her whole extended family.  Just as she was blowing out her candles and becoming an elder, the Grim Reaper and his hula girls showed up.

I guess that raises a question, you can't plead to save someone dieing of old age, can you?  Anyway, the party nosedived from Roof Raiser to Real Dud, and stayed there.
95  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Cheerleaders in Llama Suits on: 2006 February 21, 19:10:32
So as far as NPC's you shouldn't move in, are Master Vampires on that list?

The daughter of my founding Sim, met a Vampire while in college, the fell in love and after she graduated, she moved him in and they got married.  He only remained a vampire for about a day after that, before I had him drink Vamprocillian D.  The only odd behaviour he ever exhibited was to constantly stalk around with his arm in front of his face.  He aged normally, and actually just died last night of old age.

Should I not have married a vampire into my family?
96  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Stupid stairs corrupting! on: 2006 February 15, 20:36:07
What I'd like to know is why the relationship between 2 Sims should matter when it comes to using a set of stairs at the same time.
97  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: My toddler wants to buy new clothes? on: 2006 February 14, 22:35:45
I'm giving serious thought to doing just that.  The family hasn't had a popularity Sim since his grandmother died.
98  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / My toddler wants to buy new clothes? on: 2006 February 14, 16:55:33
Is this a bad sign?  This neighborhood is the first I have created using the "Delete all characters" cheat.  I'm wondering if I did something wrong when I generated Townies, Npc's, etc.  I do know that I have 2 sets of Downtownies, but aside from the doubles wandering around downtown, this is the first really odd thing I've seen.  After creating the neighborhood, I created 1 CAS Sim and sent her to Uni, she then married the Lounge Lizard downtownie.  They had 2 children, who also went to Uni, the boy married a downtownie and has 2 sons with her, and 1 alien daughter.  The daughter married Count Jess, Master Vampire.  After dealing with a playable vampire for the first time for about 1 Simday, I had him drink Vamprocillan D.  The odd toddler is their second child.  Their daughter seemed to be perfectly normal.

This toddler has now grown into a child and he's also rolled a want to throw a sports party.

Should I scrap this neighborhood and start from scratch or is this just a glitch?
99  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Family Reunion Memories Have Driveway Pictures. on: 2006 February 10, 20:21:20
I have the noreunion memory hack in place, and it works great.  However, last night while playing Darren and Cassandra Dreamer's lot, I realized that their youngest son had never even met Dirk, so I had Darren throw an anniversary party, inviting just Dirk, Angela (formerly Pleasant), and their child aged son.  After the party, both Darren and Cassandra had memories of the Golden Anniversary party, but the picture on the description was a police car for one and a taxi for the other.  And no, the party wasn't raided by the cops.
100  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Stuff I'd like to see on: 2006 February 10, 16:46:30
I was just going to suggest the same thing Ancient Sim said.  I'll send the parent to stand by the homework and use the Procrastinate command in Macrotastics and then have the child ask for help.  Then use the Concentrate to keep the parent there until their finished.
