76  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: My sims can't interact with the policeman on: 2005 October 18, 18:22:38
I was having trouble getting one of my sims to meet one of the vampires, so I created a new downtown community lot with visitor turnover in mind.  It had four expresso bars and no bathrooms (or shrubs, for that matter).  It worked very well.
77  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Lots that simply won't load... on: 2005 October 18, 18:14:27
Sometime in the past, have you quit the game or had a crash while on an outing or date at those locations?  That might put the lots in a bad state.  You could try overwriting the lots with the originals extracted from the NightLife CD.

The black dress doesn't show up in BodyShop - Only the red one.

No, in the sim picture I see 4 bolts

Gali - Can you post a screen shot for us?  The best I've seen in any pairing is three bolts.

Right now, I'm doing a little genetic experiment neighborhood with just three family lines.  Each couple will have two kids - one boy and one girl.  If I can plan things just right, then there will be just 4 new kids in each generation perpetually, with one family line skipping each generation.  I'm curious to see just how far back the inbreeding algorithm looks when determining family relationships.
81  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Can't buy groceries in NL DownTown on: 2005 October 01, 23:07:27
My sims can't buy groceries from DownTown lots when running NightLife.  I was wondering if it was just my game, or if this happens to everyone.  Grocery buying on community lots in the standard neighborhood works fine.  Is it just me?
82  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Nightlife made Homecrafter go 'splodie - and it did a number on BodyShop, too! on: 2005 September 28, 22:44:44
I've got both University and NightLife installed, and both BodyShop and HomeCrafter work fine.  There is a long delay from double clicking on the icons to actually seeing the splash screen; about 90 seconds.  But after that, they work normally.

*sigh* this is bad.  It may corrupt your objects.package file.  I would check to see if that has happened.

Before NightLife, I ran the game for several months with the objects.package file marked as read-only.  That seemed to prevent large amounts of weirdness and bugs.  I've now done the same thing with the NightLife objects.package file.  Is there any valid reason (other than a Maxis patch release) why this file should not be read-only?
84  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Moody sims: furious and contact in NightLife on: 2005 September 18, 19:04:02
After months of play with the Romance hack in place, my game quickly degenerated into a war zone after installing NightLife (with all hacks removed).  90% of the sims in the neighborhood were Romance sims and in love with everyone.  Now when they go out on a date, at least three other sims end up furious with them from jealousy.

I can't keep the garbage can upright and I haven't seen a newspaper last for more than a few hours.  Furiously jealous neighbors come by at all hours of the day and night and kick over the can or steal the newspaper.  I anticipate a plague from all the roaches from the garbage on the street.

On the brighter side, many of my sims have had dream dates already, possibly because they usually go all the way on the first date.  Some already have a sizeable collection of the red rose bouquets and thank-you cards.
85  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Moody sims: furious and contact in NightLife on: 2005 September 18, 14:04:18
I'm seeing some odd new things in the relationship panel after installing NightLife.

Furious - Red overlay in the relationship panel that lasts for a few days.  So far, these are due to jealosy.  Social reactions are downright unfriendly between furious sims.

Contact - Blue overlay in the relationship panel that lasts for a few days.  Reactions seem to be more positive with the "contact" sim.  What the heck is this?  This guy (the contact) called my sim after she had a dream date with another sim and said that he (the contact) was referred by him (the dream date).  What is going on here?

Are there any other new relationship states in NightLife?

My mother had breast cancer almost 30 years ago, made a full recovery after the mascectomy, and is still going strong.  Don't lose hope.

Hiya Ness!  Life has been interesting, in the ancient Chinese curse kind of way.  I've got a half-dead squirrel locked in my basement right now.

As for SimPE, I definitely recommend it, if nothing else just for quick personality adjustments to your sims.

Has anyone else noticed that many of Pescado's downloads have "MY WORLD IS A CROTCH!" in the attributes section of the text lists (when seen via SimPE)?  Is J.M. really a dead webcomic character?  http://www.sluggy.com/daily.php?date=990430

Speaking of Asp. points....Is there any way to pool them in the game? IE, sometimes, especially when first starting out, an individual Sim may not have yet accumulated enough points for something, but two together would.

Well, how does the SimVac work when draining aspiration instead of skills?  Do you just get the mood boost, or do you get aspiration points as well?  Maybe you can trade relationship points for aspiration points.
90  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: The case of the disappearing simoleons on: 2005 July 19, 00:55:34
One possibility that comes to mind is that you have a hacked refrigerator that automatically refills itself at midnight, along with the incuring costs.  I know that Inge has one of these at SimLogical, but I don't know if it charges the household for the food it buys or not.
91  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: So what is an overpopulated neighborhood anyway? on: 2005 July 18, 23:42:36
For an example on the other end of the spectrum, I've got a neighborhood with 55 character files.  22 of those were created by me (10 in CAS and 12 in-game kids so far), while the others are NPCs (maids, gardeners, etc.).  I haven't yet sent anyone to university, but I expect the number to jump again when I do.  I deleted all the Maxis-generated townies and dormies before creating any of my own sims and I've got the no-townies and no-dormies hacks.  Aside from the occaisional slow-down when the game had to generate an NPC on the fly, it has worked out quite well.
