51  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: No romantic interactions? on: 2005 September 03, 13:21:50
I've verified it, they are teens.  darn the bad luck.  Anyway, I've used SIMpe for information purposes only.  I've not changed any datafile.

Thanks Hook for the link.

I'm not doing the challenge by the book.  I do have quite a few of JMP's hacks.  I just want to keep to the general idea of it.

ZZ, thats not the point of a legacy challenge.  I will probably use them at some point as part of the bloodline, but i want to stay as close as i can to the intent of the challenge..
53  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: No romantic interactions? on: 2005 September 02, 15:38:43
Teens huh, I'll need to check it with SIMPE.

If so, they will be taking a little trip to UNI to be available for down the line.  Hate doing that work for nothing.
54  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / No romantic interactions? on: 2005 September 02, 13:14:39
I just started on my legacy house.  I'm trying to get my sim to marry an NPC without much luck.  I currently have 2 ladies available(amy the papergirl and Nicole a cashier from the community lot) but neither one is working.  I can interact with them just fine, talk, play, etc..  My daily relationships with them are both in the 95-100 range.  All I get is the friendly hug.  No romantic hug, no flirting, no kissing, no woohoo.  I tried using the macro:socialize:romantic, the red heart will appear in the que and then disappear without any interaction.

Any idea's?

I'm glad your ok Reg and I hope things are back to normal for you as soon as they can be.

What's happening in the gulf coast is tragic.  The major problem was the levies breaking.  Everyone knew that they could go but all thought that something that bad could never happen to them.  Because they broke, it will be years before New Orleans is back to the way it was.  More than half of the buildings in NO will have to be torn down because of the damage and flooding.

In time's like these, you get the best of people and the worst of people.  The problem is, the worst of people is more newsworthy.  Right now, you aren't hearing about all of the hoards of individuals that are desending on the area trying to help any way they can.  What you read and see on TV are the stories about the looters, the anarchy, and all the bad things that are going on.

Yes, everyone was caught unprepared, city, state and federal leaders.  Assigning blame at this point is useless.  What happened, happened.  The focus now needs to be the welfare of the people in the area and getting help to them as soon as possible.

the advantage is that a linked career will start you farther up the ladder than an unlinked career.
59  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: What's the best stories you've read? on: 2005 August 30, 17:13:27
The reason I think Jfed chose to use NPC's is for the reason that NPC's in the bloodline give you points towards the final score and townies do not.  She/he wanted to get the most points he/she could.
60  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / What's the best stories you've read? on: 2005 August 30, 13:56:30
Until recently I didn't do much with the ea bbs exchange.  I thought, 34,000 stories, who has time to search and read them all??  Also, until recently, I was on a dialup, so I didnt want to take the time.

Reggikko posted a while back a link to her webpage, I was bored so I took a look at it.  I was hooked.  If you haven't seen it, go read it.  It also showed me that there were good stories on the exchange.  A few I read were pretty good, but most seemed to just rehash the same ole thing.

The best i've read was a legacy story from jfed142.  It covers a legacy challenge entry from start to finish.

So, i'm going to ask you guys and gals, what are the best stories and creators that you have seen on the exchange?  Can you provide a link to the authors webpage?
61  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: University Technical Issue on: 2005 August 30, 13:25:27
Actually Gali, you should NOT install the patch before installing Uni.  I didn't install the patch and I had no problems.  I've also heard from several people who did use it, that they had to start all over without the patch.
62  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: The Maxis chat ... was it worthless? on: 2005 August 26, 14:31:17
As usual, there was a lot of garbage in the chat with a LOT of rehashing of things that have been known for a long time.  But there was some usefull information sprinkled in.

1. the skyscrapers shown are props, but you will be able to make your own skyscrapers.
2. You can click on a neighbors house and load the lot without going to the neighborhood screen, was confirmed.
3. Fire hydrants added?  Will the current firefighters use them?
4. several different driveway designs.
5. You can have a dj table and karoke machines on a residential lot.
6. Cars will have car alarms.
7. you can have alien/zombie/vampires confirmed
8. pleasure sim aspirational failure involves a lampshade on their head
9. Nightlife will try to fix as many of the bugs to university as they can.  The rest will be handled with the standalone patch.
10. largest lot size will now be 5x6 and cost 18,500.
11. you can put any object into your inventory.
12. teens can drive siblings to school
13. you can fight rivals or pay them off to get rid of them
63  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Open relationship help on: 2005 July 29, 18:15:40
I'm going to try to finally take a stab at creating a romance sim and following it through till the end.  I have the romance mod and i want to eventually get a few sims into a open relationship.  What things should I be on the lookout for and how would be the best to start?
64  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Plans for Nightlife on: 2005 July 28, 18:36:38
Are you planning on creating a new neighborhood for Nightlife or make major changes the one your playing now?

With the upcoming vehicles and the associated garages, most houses will have to be redesigned to locate the garage at the front of the property.

I can't wait to start building houses with half walls.
65  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Serving Food on: 2005 July 27, 20:01:23
k, i wont put it in.  Is there anyway to incorporate it into the macrotastic/eat function?
66  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Serving Food on: 2005 July 27, 19:54:04
Hey JM,

I was browsing MTS2 and saw the following hack:
http://forums.modthesims2.com/showthread.php?t=70736

This is something that I haven't liked since Sims2 came out.  How often do you have only 1 sim and 6 sims in a house.  I would dare to say that most of us average 2-4 sims to a household.

Does it work as advertised, does it conflict with any FFS hack, and are you planning on making something better than this?
67  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Other Games? on: 2005 July 15, 18:31:45
Besides Sims2, the other game i'm playing at the moment is Microsoft Freelancer MultiPlayer.  I'm playing the Asgard Mod v3.
