It's a home business, so that isn't really an issue for me.  For some reason I don't really visit most owned businesses with playable sims... But I'll keep that in mind if I ever want to, and make sure that business has a staff.
55  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Is there a way to change how fast a food fills up the hunger bar? on: 2006 May 23, 11:08:58
Thank goodness I'm not a Sim. I've been eating Chinese food since I grew teeth and I've always been skinny. If I turn sideways, I become practically invisible. =D
Heh, yeah, the myth of fattening Chinese food seems contradicted by the not-quite-so-fat Chinese. I mean, surely the Chinese eat lots of Chinese food, and yet they're not blimps. Maybe it's because most of them don't have cars, either.

Right except the Chinese don't eat the "chinese food" we American's eat.  I don't think they would even recognize anything in Panda Express, which can be quite fattening.

The custom price option can be used to set a meaningful price for everything. As a general rule, nothing worth less than about $100-$200 is even worth the bother of selling it: Considering that even paying employees craptastical wages in the $5-$15 range, you're going to probably require at least an hour's worth of employee-time, and your profit will be something pitiful, maybe $10 or so.

Which means with every sale you even attempt, you're losing money. This is not what I call a good business model.

LOL, JM!  Who pays employees? Not me!  I use only family labor.  All I need is a cashier anyway, and the husband does that.  There is no stocking since the photos are not restockable.  I just take a bunch of pictures, hang them up and price them, and then open the gallery.  Once they all sell, close it again.  I've upped my prices now that she has good sales skills and some customer loyalty.  As for the other portion of my business, the photo studio, there are still no expenses.  I just charge the visitors a small fee to hang out in the house, and when they make an interesting face, snap a picture.  Whatever money is made is pure profit, since the only expenses are the fixtures and they paid for those with the cash business perks.
57  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: What controls how much a photo can be sold for in OFB? on: 2006 May 22, 05:03:09
I have mini-sets set up all over my community lot studio and a little ticket machine to charge the ones who just hang around and stuff for them to do, like places to dance, things to sit on etc.  This makes helps because they spend alot of their time hanging around socializing which keeps the customer loyalty up a little bit and also gives me oprotunities to photograph people in different situations.  So I charge them to hang out, pay them nothing while I use them as free models, and then sell their portraits back to them at a high price. Quite a racket.

Oh and I just had a playable sim visit the lot and buy a photograph and a custom painting.  When they came home both of them retained the correct image.  Maybe if its bought autonomously it will revert to a practice painting?
58  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: What controls how much a photo can be sold for in OFB? on: 2006 May 22, 03:58:17
This actually does work!  I did not know about the custom setting button (Actually I did know it was there for the hairdresser chair) because I have never used the sim interaction to set prices, I usually just go back into wholesale mode.  Set price for type works perfectly too, I just marked all photos for a $1 then used set price for type to mark all photos to $100.  The sims will probably whine about how high the price is, but so freaking what?  I have yet to have a playable sim buy one though, so I'll have to see what happens and let you guys know if it messes up the way custom paintings when placed in inventory.
59  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / What controls how much a photo can be sold for in OFB? on: 2006 May 22, 02:11:48
I'm talking about photos taken with the antique camera.  I wanted to have a photo studio as a business as OFB.  No prob, I can take the pictures on my owned community lot, and place it for sale, but no matter how much creativity the sim has, or how much it would sell for if sold directly from the camera, I can only mark it for sale for a dollar.  Is there any way to set a custom price for these damn things?

Thanks!
60  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Anyone know what causes flashing blue foundations? on: 2006 May 21, 19:32:40
I don't think its CC either, since its happening to a bare foundation with no floor.  Foundations are not CC, and anyway it doesn't LOOK like the same flashing blue you get with CC.
61  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Anyone know what causes flashing blue foundations? on: 2006 May 21, 08:23:04
That's what I think too, but he isn't really very willing to accept it since his card is "supported" and its an intermittant problem.
62  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Anyone know what causes flashing blue foundations? on: 2006 May 21, 04:18:36
I tried to help him, but didn't get anywhere other than he has a total crap computer.  I didn't want to lead the sheep into MATY though, so thought I'd just ask on his behalf.

Here's the thread with all the info:  http://bbs.thesims2.ea.com/community/bbs/messages.php?&openItemID=item.2,item.43,item.61,item.104,item.41,item.23&threadID=4e3fbc84177632749ed54d7441d71e45&directoryID=2&startRow=1

I for one don't want to download your .doc.   Why not throw the pictures on photobucket and use IMG tags to show them in the thread.
64  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Something strange is afoot... on: 2006 May 11, 11:37:51
Last year when I was doing the Legacy challenge I discovered that Dagmar was quite lovely and had her marry my first generation Legacy sim. Marylena, the one that delivers groceries, is another quite pretty sim. Have yet to find a NPC guy that is attractive though, they all look like they got beat with an ugly stick or were victims of inbreeding.

WHEN are people going to stop hating on the inbred?  We have feelings too.  Cry
65  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Something strange is afoot... on: 2006 May 11, 01:26:11
I've never had a sim that didn't have a default CAS face.... so no I have never had an attractive townie or serviceman.

How does it differ from this one?  I know its the same mesh extracted from OFB but has some critical fix?

Only "gold suit" and "white suit" Sad

Oh I found a name: cori27

There is a cori27 at TSR but its not among her downloads!  Maybe it's hers but she took it down?

I cannot remember where this bikini came from, its one of my favorites though.  Anyone recognize it?

71  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: About LTW Hacks on: 2006 May 03, 00:40:25
Personally I hate any career related lifetime want.  I would like it much more if each aspiration had at least five unique LFTs that had nothing to do with career and were actually fun goals.  I really hate for a sim to tell ME what career they want to be in, that's for me to decide!
72  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Custom objects on shevles in OFB- - Lots won't load now on: 2006 April 26, 02:30:06
Hey sorry about starting this post and not coming back to answer any of the suggestions.  Actually what I did was take out the numenor hack, and batch fix with SIM PE to make custom objects fit shelves instead per his instructions on the same post.  That works much better for me. So problem solved.  Smiley

Oh and yes the custom content I was using was pre-OFB things for stores from Sims Connection, and also from retail sims.  The lot that started the problem for me had the wizard santcum set from Retail Sims on it.

That sounds alot like what was happening to my game when my neighborhood had a bunch of errors due to lotbinning sims.  I would look for the post JM made explaining the overstuffed neighborhood problem.
74  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Custom objects on shevles in OFB- - Lots won't load now on: 2006 April 06, 23:37:57
No, I don't think so.  It's weird, its some combination of Numenor's hack and something else I have.  WIthout any other hacks but Numenor's, the content doesn't screw up the community lots.  I'm trying to figure out what's doing it by moving my hacks back one by one, but I'm getting sick of it and thinking of just using the batch fix on sim pe and dumping it all together.  Wish I could figure out exactly what hack is messing up with Numenor's so I could report it in case someone else gets it.

I know, just wondering if any of you guys have had the same thing happen.
