276  Awesomeware / The Armory / Re: Macro Control: Macrotastics on: 2008 September 17, 23:05:52
JM:

How possible would it be to implement a "Macro....browse web" function so that we could create the illusion of employees being office workers and plugging away at their desktops?

It would effectively open up a whole new type of community lot - the office lot.
277  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Office workers on: 2008 September 17, 23:01:42
Darn it. There is simliar-ish type objects there, but not what we need.

Perhaps I will suggest it in the macrotastics thread. Cheers though.

I honestly thought this would be pretty easy to implement, but it's anything but.
Is there a way to  make a corporation office lot that involves the employees mainly tapping away at the computer, whilst periodically taking breaks and going for lunch?
Something like what would go on in this type of place:
http://www.hull.ac.uk/geog/research/images/RH01a.jpg

I just need them to concentrate on working away on their desktop PC's, I don't care if they're really just checking their emails or whatever.

I thought of the "Real estate" model, but that involves other, non-employed sims coming in and checking out the deeds if I am correct.

Only employees need be on the premises.
EA should have really included this in OFB.

Any ideas?
279  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Streamlining load times - is this possible? on: 2008 September 11, 05:58:25
Why don't you just remove the neighbourhood folders that you don't intend to play before startup?

I only have one neighbourhood anyhow. But say if I wanted to choose a sub-hood,  and then a particular lot from the launcher, this would eliminate the need to come back twice more and check if the next loading screen is done.

Abit like queuing up the actions in the game itself
280  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Streamlining load times - is this possible? on: 2008 September 10, 06:16:34
You know how simPE lets us boot TS2 from within the simPE app.
Would it be possible for a program to somehow let us choose a neighbourhood, then a residential lot from before the game has even been launched, therefore bypassing the need to go through all three loading screens and choosing after each one?

Some of us have some extreme loading times (mine is about 11 minutes from desktop to lot) and if this could be managed then we would see less waiting around.

Possible?

Has there been any fix for the condo deco replacement bug yet?
This is the only thing really stopping me from installing AL. It absolutely butchered my city center maps
282  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: PSA: Abandonated Mods Borked by AL on: 2008 August 30, 23:46:33
For what its worth theres a list of non-abandonated hacks here

About the curved corner pools, this happened pre-AL with me, but with the outside of the pools, not the inside like in the above pic.

oh, and whats this Apartment Life Director's Cut?
284  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: PSA: Abandonated Mods Borked by AL on: 2008 August 30, 17:50:12
Works perfectly for me and I have all EPs and SPs.

ETA: You know you have to reinstall it every time you install a new EP right? Because the new EP overwrites the old camera files. Try re-downloading it and replacing the files and see if that works.
Hmm, well i transfered my FT camera files over to overwrite the AL ones but if you say its working then it must be.
I have uninstalled now though and I loathe to go through all that "creating pets....creating weather" malarkey again
285  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: PSA: Abandonated Mods Borked by AL on: 2008 August 30, 15:22:31
Well the Gunmod camera hack won't allow zoom-out in hood view with AL.
The loss of the other hacks i can temporarily cope with, but not this one.
286  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Originally a "Power Outage" in the game? Could modders plz help get it back? on: 2008 July 29, 11:20:59
Some who play that one challenge that runs through time periods (I can't recall the name) play that way for generations. No phone, no lights, no tv, etc. I've kind of done it in poverty challenges, but only for a day or two.
wow, your social life must be a right whirlwind! saddo!
287  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: The Compressorizer! Mass DBPF Compressing Program on: 2008 July 12, 20:54:25
ok, just a quick heads up:
second time i've compressorized my 7 gig sims 2 folder, and the desktop-to-lot loadtime went from 9 1/2 minutes to 14 and a 1/2.
same as last time couple weeks ago.

strange. kudos anyhow to you jfade, it seems to just clash against something in my setup i suppose.

i wonder if the people having longer load times could have something in common, such as what type of OS they run, or perhaps even how you sub-directory your downloads? Or will it be 'just one of those things?'
288  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Freetime Patch is out on: 2008 July 12, 13:52:57
ok, sorry if this sounds naive, still a little baffled...

the new exe contains a patch?
289  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: The Compressorizer! Mass DBPF Compressing Program on: 2008 July 06, 23:51:23

Deleting the cache files will also slow things down the first time you run the game afterward, since it needs to rebuild the cache.
[/quote]

yeah i suspected that, however i tried it 3 times after, and it was still taking ages the third time Huh
290  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: The Compressorizer! Mass DBPF Compressing Program on: 2008 July 06, 17:10:30
okay thanks.

i just compressorized my 5 gig downloads folder after deleting my cache files, and it added 4 minutes onto the total load time.
replaced it with my old non-compressorized (trying saying that when you're drunk!)] folder and its back down to nine minutes..
291  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: The Compressorizer! Mass DBPF Compressing Program on: 2008 July 06, 12:35:43
Just wondering:

I remember reading through this before, and thought i read something about a problem with re-categorizing objects after compressorizing, but cant find it this time.

Has anybody mentioned anything about this?
292  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: What's on YOUR Wish List? on: 2008 July 06, 12:26:19
Ive just thought of a good one:

to be able to browse buy / buy mode while the game still runs in the background, real time.
293  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: phone options appearing on sim pie menu on: 2008 June 22, 19:53:10
ah well, i'll do without the mobile then :L
294  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: phone options appearing on sim pie menu on: 2008 June 22, 18:04:06
okay okay, first up:

1) i was  pretty sure the "business" and "real estate" options only were supposed to come up WHEN you click on call. not alongside it.
that way all the phonecall options are located inside "call" sub-menu. i may take  my hacks out and see if this is the case.
i'm almost certain "subscribe to magazine" should't come up EVERY time i click on my sim. if thats how its supposed to be then its quite lame. do you really want to see that everytime you click on a sim with a mobile?

2) the 26 hours thing is indeed from crammyboys community time. if your sim goes out for, say, 5 hours, then once back in the home lot they wont appear for 5 hours. great mod.

3) the magic pack is from the harry potter set in conjunction with echo's magic skill mod. you build up your magic skill by practising in front of a spellbook, (you even have a blue skill meter for it) and once you're good enough you can kill sims by swarms of flies, electrocution or even bless them with irresistabilty. theres even magic cauldrons that let you create potions. recommended.
295  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / phone options appearing on sim pie menu on: 2008 June 22, 11:44:34
something weird has happened, and i have the problem pictured when i carry a mobile phone.

anyone else had this, or got a fix for it please?
296  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Is there a new no-CD/no-DVD crack for FT patch #2?? on: 2008 June 13, 02:12:58
So it was a false alarm then?

Its funny to think that AL is just round the corner. i just hope the patched exe no2  does come out sooner rather than later.
at the longest we'll be using the new exe for a matter of weeks
297  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Permanent Suntan or Sunburn ? on: 2008 June 06, 19:15:13
ok thanks peeps.

and another thing - in sims 2 categorizer the description firmly said DOES NOT TAN.
yet, as mentioned, i thought it did actually tan.

OK i'm a bit dizzy now. cheers Smiley
298  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Permanent Suntan or Sunburn ? on: 2008 June 06, 19:09:04
aha!
forgive me for being a bit confused. just to clarify then:

JM pescado version = does tan
numenor version = gives body points instead

The link i linked to two posts above leads you to a file called numenorian.zip. however, it does seem to tan sims!
you can see why i am a bit baffled!
so which is it then?
299  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Permanent Suntan or Sunburn ? on: 2008 June 06, 18:48:40
could you direct me to it please somebody? (JM version)

I've used the MATY search function, and its come up in certain threads, but no link:)
300  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: What's on YOUR Wish List? on: 2008 June 02, 20:10:12
I'd like a hack so that instaead of a blue loading screen inbetween lots, we could see a little animation of your chosen transport going to its destination, like a neighbourhood view with the camera tracking your car. Grin
