Meditating! Why didn't I think of that?! *smacks self on forehead*

BastDawn, thanks for pointing that one out to me. I have the whole shebang downloaded but have yet to browse through the entire list of fixes it contains. I'll put that in right now. Thanks!

Store bottles. This consists of queuing up several "Get bottle for X" actions. As soon as they have the bottle from the fridge, cancel the action. They'll drop the bottle. Stick it in inventory. When toddlers get to less than half hunger, just dump the bottle down on the floor in front of them.

Or (if you don't mind 'cheating') just use Inge's Bottomless Bottle.
278  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Bodyshop Questions and Problems on: 2007 June 30, 08:20:34
1. Do you use skintone and/or eye color default replacements  in your game?
2. Do you have Pets? (I assume you do)
3. Stupid question here: are you sure that the clothing/makeup/etc. the Sim is using is actually Custom Content and not Maxis made (perhaps from an EP or stuff pack you don't normally use)?

As far as I know, BodyShop doesn't have its own patch.
279  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Making Medicine with the Science Career Reward on: 2007 June 30, 08:15:05
I'm guessing that it's not possible to cure a sick Sim using the Science career reward, since I tried having a sick Sim make 8 medicines in a row but they didn't work and he died shortly thereafter. I'm wondering if it's possible to have a mod made to enable the medicine from this machine to actually work to cure disease (or if there already is such a thing could some kind individual point me in the right direction).

Yes, I'm aware that orange juice will cure the common cold, but the sickness that's running rampant in my Legacy family (that's already killed off the parents (one of whom was Akatonbo) and I had to cheat by summoning the kids' aunt so they wouldn't be taken away) is the flu. Both parents were sick for a long, long time and would refuse to stay in bed or sitting down in order to get better.

I admit that I do have the real-sickness mod installed, but I have removed it until I can find a way to actually 'cure' any illness in an emergency.
280  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Building a Bridge Indoors on: 2007 June 29, 04:23:11
Yeah, I seem to have gotten it all right. All I did was create the lower level, added the two staircases, added the upper floor, inserted the 'gates' and then deleted the rest of the floor. That just means that the upper levels are connected by a walkway that runs outside. I haven't quite experimented with trying to put one roof over the two separate rooms on the top level (so that the bridge is at least covered in the winter), so maybe I'll try that next.

Since I have all you fine builders here anyway, I thought I'd ask another question. Is it  possible to place a roof directly on top of another one? I'm currently trying to make myself an ominous bunker to keep my evil creations in, but as of right now it's just basically a basement with no roof in the backyard. I'm thinking I'll simply use the Auto Roof option to give everything the flat roof and then manually add a different roof type to each of the upper areas.

I'll add pictures here later if anyone's interested.
281  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Building a Bridge Indoors on: 2007 June 27, 21:48:47
Ahhh, so maybe adding some pillars or whatnot under the specific area would be required and then could be deleted afterwards? Excellent. I'll give it a shot. Thanks. Smiley
282  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Building a Bridge Indoors on: 2007 June 27, 21:39:22
Okay, I admit it; I'm not a builder. I find I have difficulty even making a house with a deck upstairs. It was with this realization that I thought I might ask people who do engage in the art of building houses in the game to answer me this question.

I'm wondering if it's possible to build a bridge indoors to connect two separate upstairs areas together. To attempt to elaborate: the house looks like a 'U.' For simplicity's sake, let's say there's the perfectly ordinary rectangular first floor. There are two staircases, one on either side of the house, each leading to an upstairs area. Neither one is connected to the other. Is it possible to build a bridge that would connect these two upstairs areas together? You know, it kind of would look like a sidewalk, but it would have a fence of some sort on the side (perhaps made of glass) to prevent people from 'falling to their death from the upstairs area.'

Ooh, I didn't know that. Thanks. Smiley   Laylei, have you had any luck?
284  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Inexplicable Promotion on: 2007 June 24, 19:50:39
I've had that happen once before a long time ago. However, in this instance, there was no Dream Date or anything. He was just promoted. He was lacking one skill point in Mechanical before he could become a warhead disarmer, but he got promoted anyways. That makes me rather nervous as to what his fate will be if he's promoted to a position like that without having the necessary skill.  Grin

The game was really pushing him to gain that one point, too. At one point, he had three wants that related to it: 'Gain a skill point,' 'gain 1 mechanical skill point,' and 'Reach 7 mechanical points.' Heh.

Try this handy tutorial.
286  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Inexplicable Promotion on: 2007 June 22, 22:43:50
I have a Sim that was in the Adventurer career and hit level 6: Dread Pirate. I wanted him to remain on that level for the rest of his life, so I deliberately ensured that he was one skill point short of the requirement to reach the next level. However, even though he did remain a Dread Pirate for quite a while (two weeks Sims time, perhaps?), he eventually got promoted anyways against my express wishes. What the heck? Is there some sort of code programmed into the game where a Sim can't spend a certain length of time on any on level in a creer before they're automatically given a promotion (tenure, if you will)?

I admit that I do have the No Friends for Any Career hack installed, but that shouldn't really affect the skills necessary to advance in one's career, should it?
287  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: How to extract a sim? on: 2007 June 21, 06:52:07
Just out of curiosity, why is that, SleepyCat? I've personally never had a problem with them not showing up in my BodyShop, nor a problem with me packaging them up.  Huh
288  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: How to extract a sim? on: 2007 June 19, 07:35:42
Do you have SimPE and never use it, or do you not have it at all? If you do have it, this is how you extract Sims:

1. Open SimPE.
2. Click on Tools on the menu bar, then select Neighborhood, then Neighborhood Browser. Select the appropriate 'hood.
3. Wait for the 'hood to load completely.
4. Click on Tools, point to Neighborhood and select Sim Surgery. Depending on how many Sims you have in your 'hood, it may take several minutes to load the list, so just wait until the new window pops up.
5. Select the Sim you want to extract, click on the 'use' button next to the Patient Sim thumbnail at the top and then select 'Extract.'
6. Save the Sim in the default destination if you want to package the Sim up in a .package file.
7. Close SimPE and open BodyShop.
8. Once BodyShop has opened, click on 'Build Sim', then 'Package Sim.'
9. Select the appropriate Sim(s) and package them up. You can save these anywhere.

289  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Second Seasons Patch is out.... on: 2007 June 12, 06:35:36
So far the only bug that I can see is that the bunk bed that I got from MTS2 is flashing blue (like it would without the floor mirror installed). I'll try reinstalling said floor mirror to see if that helps.
290  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Second Seasons Patch is out.... on: 2007 June 12, 04:17:30
The most common files responsible for the error are objects.package, graphicsrules mentioned above (usually edited to get around Maxis-imposed resolution/display limits), and a cracked .exe. One patch choked on my empty OFB template.

Here's what you should do. Run the patch and watch the progress. When the error pops up, look at which file the installation had reached. That's the file that the patch is choking on. You need to replace it with the original version (off the CD or mounted image).

Well, that makes a lot of sense. Thanks! It seems it's my TSData/Res/3D/Objects02.package file. How very odd. Oh well, I'll see what I can do. Smiley
291  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Second Seasons Patch is out.... on: 2007 June 12, 04:04:46
Have you edited your graphicrules.sgr file?  If this is like the last patch (and since it does include those fixes, I assume it is) you'll need to back that file up and replace it with the original.

My wha. . . ? Hmm, Never heard of that before. The first patch went in fine, but this one is giving me problems. I'll give that a try. Thanks. Smiley

Primp self-interaction is again available.

I'd wondered what happened to it.

I'd be willing to try this out 'first,' but I get the 'Must uninstall and reinstall Seasons' error message and don't know how to fix it.  Angry Any suggestions? Incidentally, I am using a No-CD crack, but I've tried using the 'normal' file in its place and still get that message.
293  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Easiest way to change skintone genetically? on: 2007 June 10, 21:11:58
SimPE can do this. I'll look for a tutorial for you.

In the meantime, do you happen to know if there's someone in the neighborhood that already has the skintone that you want to use? If so, this is how you do it:

1. Open up SimPE.
2. Click on Tools, then Neighborhood Selector. Choose the relevant 'hood.
3. GO into Sim Browser and select the Sim with the skintone you want to use, click on More and then select SimDNA.
4. Copy the line in the Skintone area (in the Dominant section).
5. Go into Sim Browser and select the Sim you want to change. Click on More and SimDNA.
6. Paste the line you just copied onto both the dominant and recessive lines for their DNA.
7. Click commit, then Save file.

Presto. It's done. However, if all you want to do is give them a Maxis skintone, just open up the SimDNA of the Sim you want to change and alter the Skintone line(s) to these:

Light: 00000001-0000-0000-0000-000000000000
Tan: 00000002-0000-0000-0000-000000000000
Medium: 00000003-0000-0000-0000-000000000000
Dark: 00000004-0000-0000-0000-000000000000

You can alter the Skintone range as you like, but I'm not certain if altering both the Skintone line and the Skintone Range line will give you a different skintone than any of the four preset ones.
294  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Creating a Custom Name List on: 2007 June 10, 21:09:43
Can't you just save it as its own file (entitled, of course, Live.package) and put it into Downloads which will override any other lists already in existence?

What's who?

To avoid confusion, this is what that post was referring to (and her response accordingly):
Is it just me - or does this one look a little like a boob?
It's you.

I agree; it doesn't look much like a boob to me. *shrug*

You know, 'beautiful' is in the eyes of the beholder. I happen to find some Sims beautiful that others would consider quite plain or ordinary, and vice versa.

On a semi-related note, how many careers are available for cats? I've only ever had three show up in the paper (and all in the same order). If they only get three jobs available, however, feel free to mock me openly.  Embarrassed
