251  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: How to properly "mind the store?" on: 2006 July 13, 13:31:34
Maybe it was p1 that fixed it. I remember reading about it somewhere and the landline was the only known fix for it. I didn't install any patches until about a week before I uninstalled OFB.
252  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Restock Signs on: 2006 July 13, 13:18:09
So far, the only way I have been able to get rid of them (since they are not clickable or selectable in buy/build mode) is to remember which tile they are on and put the stuck object remover there. That kills em...er, burninates them, rather.

Force error, delete.

I vaguely remember trying that (been a couple of months since I had OFB officially in my game) but it never seemed to work for some of the ones that ended up in odd places (like across the street and stacked on the same tile), and they disappeared in buy/build mode.

I have no problems checking from a cellphone....

Did the patch fixed this? I remember it was a bug at first. The progress bar would not go up on cell phones. I stopped using the cellphone to check in on businesses as a result. I never bothered trying again.
254  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: How to properly "mind the store?" on: 2006 July 13, 05:53:07
Mind the store has nothing to do with checking in on a business with a manager. Mind the store simply makes the manager go into tidy mode all the time, reassign employees, ignore customers, and occasionally go back to the register to ring up customers (not entirely sarcasm). Employees always leave when you leave the lot. Closing the store and telling them to go home will not prevent your store from being managed, or disable checking in on it. Just having a manager should enable checking in on a business. Checking in on a cellphone will do no good, you must use a regular phone (landline) in order to do that - in case that is what you are having them use. If that is not working, it must be a bug or something. Try selling the business and then re-hiring if you can't get it to work.

Character files are neighborhood specific, so you can't just copy/paste them. The best way to go about that would be to package the lot with the family the first time you load the lot, and before exporting. Then you can install them and place them in another neighborhood as well. I suppose it is a bit late for that at this point, though.

I couldn't download it either, Blue. No tools used.

For the most part, but sims like the gardener, repairman, etc., I have not messed with. I change their physical looks with Insim and SimPE, though. Someone else here should know about it.

Thanks again, Jordi Smiley

264  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Can a sim be prepared for safe lotbinning? on: 2006 July 07, 08:08:57
If you don't mind swapping sims without the lots, or just packaging the sims and lots separately, there is a way. Open SimPE, open the neighborhood. From there, open sims surgery and find your sim. Select use, then extract. Close sim PE, open Body Shop. Go to create or clone sims. You will see your sim there. Clone this sim without changing anything, then make a clone of the clone. This is the only useable one, so make sure to delete the others after cloning. Then you can package the sim to send to your friend. Smiley
265  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: cleaninstaller 1.5.1.4 - exception errors leading to JIT debugger messages on: 2006 July 07, 01:46:35
Do you have Microsoft.net framework 1.1 installed?

If yes, then try to right-click on the file and select "Open with", then choose the Body Shop installer instead. If you are unsure about the contents of the package (like hacks, etc.) perhaps you can send the file to someone (I will volunteer) to check and see what the problem is.
266  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: How can I save a Sim in a file? on: 2006 July 06, 18:03:02
No, you can't actually (unless there is some special trick that I don't know about). I just tried it to double check. So far the only way I know is to extract the sim from sim surgery in SimPE, clone that in body shop, and then clone the clone you made. Then you can package that one.

Regarding Squinge's version: he pulled it for a reason. I had mentioned adding something like this hack to it to aid in the growing up process while I was testing it, but all in all the whole thing ended up not working. Unless he put it back up and has a new version, I would remove it, personally, Ancient Sim.
268  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Game crashes on accepting a job on: 2006 July 06, 02:53:36
In some games (mine, and at least one other person so far) Post Uni, bodybuilders trying to get a job will crash the game on or just after the 3rd one tries. So far the only workaround is to make them change into normal sim clothes.
269  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Game crashes on accepting a job on: 2006 July 06, 01:02:16
They wouldn't happen to be bodybuilders, would they?

Well, thank you Smiley Yes, I will test it for the long term. I have a good test hood for it, actually. Should be interesting to see the results.

Thanks, Blue Smiley (You are trying to make me blush Tongue!)  I downloaded it. I was going to put it in my other game by itself out of curiosity. I haven't really decided yet. I think I am still recovering from the aging townies thing.
272  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Cars on Community Lots on: 2006 July 05, 01:01:15
It is an OFB thing, unfortunately. They changed the way the cars are viewed for some reason (probably because of the selling/car shelf thing), which is also why they take up more than one square now. Sad, because I loved lining the downtown streets with parking meters, cars, and filling the parking lots. I don't know of any workaround except getting the decorative cars at MTS2, but I don't care for them too much. You can't see them from neighborhood view, which I want.
273  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Stuck Open Doors on: 2006 July 04, 09:11:42
Dorm doors in regular hoods? I have had occasional problems with stuck doors (they are still "in use") if there is only one tile between the door and stairs. It doesn't always happen, but it seems to fix it by creating a 2 tile space if this happens to be the way your door/porch is.
274  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Looking for the mod causing my grief. on: 2006 July 04, 09:06:52
I always disable them in groups of 10 (moving them to a new folder with Clean Installer) until the problem stops, deleting groups.cache and neighborhoodmanager.package each time. Then I reenable and move them back 2 or 3 at a time to isolate it. Good luck Smiley

Here is an error log I got on a residential lot. The only pattern I noticed was it was around the top of the hour most of the time. Other than that, it was pretty erratic.
