26  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: This new furious state on: 2005 September 26, 20:13:44
One of the problems is townies and npcs are so darn RUDE. Once Remington the maid was hanging out at the house and he started poking and insulting one of my sims for no reason! This was BEFORE NL, by the way. after a while they became enemites, and I decided to make them fight, since Remington seriously deserved to get his butt kicked (which is what happened, twice). I let the gardener hang out one day too and she started poking and insulting the same sim Remington hated, but I sent her away. Neither sim has been allowed to hang out at the house since.

After getting NL I sent one family to the lot, and a townie sim started poking an insulting THAT SAME SIM (but I couldn't control him as he wasn't in the family I was playing). They eventually got into a fight. My sim won again. He's the most kick-butt elder I have (but I'm not saying it's cause he's black or anything LOL).

What I'm getting at is, townies need to be nicer. I'm sick of them coming up to my sims and acting like jerks and causing problems. I don't mind that sims get mad at each other, it makes the game more interesting. But I would like it if it didn't happen to the extent it's happening now. An occasional fight is fine, but when certain townies go around making enemies with everyone there's a problem.

6. Sims are way too possessive about crushes. Seems to me that sims shouldn't ever get furious at a crush for dating someone else, but they should get furious at the person that sim is dating.

I disagree to some extent. In real life when I had a crush and found out he was dating someone else, I was ticked off at HIM, not his date. But that's just me Smiley

I agree with everything else you said tho.

Something I found weird was when I had an adult swim clean the fish tank (which put a puddle of water on the floor) her father upstairs became FURIOUS with her, while he was woohooing with his wife. I mean, if I was having sex with my husband and mu grown daughter cleaned a fish tank and got some water on the gorund I wouldn't immediately get out and become furious with her. That doesn't make any sense. It's funny if it's siblings, but I think that was a dumb reason to get angry.

Oh,  now you guys are making me want to borrow a toddler from someome.

I agree, I should go out and have a baby with someone so I can show them the sims!

Jk, the sims probably won't even be around by the tome I have kids Sad I'll live vicariously through you people.
28  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Morality & The Sims on: 2005 September 26, 20:02:16
I want my sims to live their dreams. When one of my sims goes into aspirational failure it's depressing. I don't mind making romance sims, I just make them woohoo all the ugly townies that I don't want in my other sims' gene pools. Romance sims are the "janitors" of the neighborhood. They're always the sims that are simply ugly and have bad genetics, or if there are too many sims in that generation I "sacrifice" one so that the others can pass on their genes and have more children.

I don't have my sims cheat, unless they're romance sims. I don't see the point. When I choose a spouse for my sim, I choose it for life. Yeah, it sometimes gets boring when all my sims' dreams come true, but I'm happier that way. Seeing a sim treating a sack of flour like a baby is really depressing to me, it almost makes me want to cry lol.

Today I experimented with giving my sim a bad date, and I found it it wasn't too hard LOL. I had 5 boquets of roses around the house and I didn't know what to do with them all!
29  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Pleasure/Grilled Cheese thought bubbles on: 2005 September 26, 19:51:21
I had a grilled cheese sim, who I changed back to romance. I got this:

My sim feared getting married like a romance sim, but wanted to get married like a grilled cheese sim!

And no matter what I do, her lifetime want is to eat 200 grilled cheeses. Also, she still can eat grilled cheese any time of the day.

I've had the problem with the stuck baby ever since ts1. Especially with twins. Use the cake, it'll save alot of headaches!

Sorry to be a pain and bring this up again but unfortunately the problem came back today. Sad Yesterday Herb Oldie died in platinum (I had reset my neighborhoods to my last backup right before I installed NL). I moved his grave to "Pleasantview Memorial Lawn", and the strangest thing was that his fancy platinum tombstone was now plain grey at the community lot. Perhaps I should have then realized that something was wrong. Today it was Coral Oldie & Olive Spector's time to meet the Grim Reaper. They died, I clicked "move to X" and saved but I then had the same problem with the tombstone would be invisible on the community lot in build/buy mode and visible when a sim goes to the lot. *sigh* Though I'd let you all know. I'll fill out the form at the BBS as soon as I can, right now I have the "icepick-in-my-right-temple" sort of headache.

Bummer, I thought I'd found a way to make the cemetery feature work but the problem with it is above my minimal computer knowledge. I'm going to have to leave it up to Maxis and/or the mods to figure out what's going wrong. So far it's beginning to seem like a nasty new incarnation of the undead/elder bug. Undecided

Maybe it's a bug with Maxis-created sims? My elder sim died in platinum and when I sent him to his family cemetary (custom, made by me) it showed up fine. I honestly winced when it loaded, I was sure something would go wrong!

I also agree that it owns, definetly the best EP I've ever had (though Unleashed is close). It so much fun! It made boring, monotonous sim life be interesting and eventful.
33  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Nightlife bugs on: 2005 September 21, 20:41:23
On the subject of toddlers, there's still no non cheat way to change their hair either. It doesn't seem like it should be too hard to have an adult pick them up and walk over to a mirror while holding the toddler and then have that launch the change appearance tool for the toddler. The functionality for it is in the game because you can do it with Pescado's clothing hack and a couple of hacked mirrors other people have made.

I don't even see why an adult would have to take a toddler over to the mirror. The toddler doesn't care what they look like. Adults are the ones that change their hair anyway. I think you should be able to get the option to change their appearance when they're in their high chair Smiley

So apparently everyone is ignoring my car problem? Aaah I feel invisible!
34  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Matchmaker Madness on: 2005 September 21, 03:01:39
Every time I get a date for my romance smi she is sent a romance date, NO MATTER WHAT I pay. I also get the same townie every time. For one of my other sims, she was sent an elder. I don't really like it that her first kiss ever was with an elder, but whatever.

While the matchmaker may base off of personality, I wish she'd base off of turn offs a little more. Mine never seem to match. Still, it's a good way to meet people.

2. If I assign a car to a particular sim a blank tip/info box appears in the top right hand corner of the screen with a picture of the new owner in it and nowt else. Also, if a teen attempts to use the car to go downtown a blank message box appears in the middle of the screen with the options 'yes', 'no' and 'cancel' in it. So far I've only clicked yes but I have no idea what I'm agreeing to.

I have this weirdness whenever somebody calls for the gypsy.  At first I thought it was assorted cell phone madness because whenever I have a problem with calling a service, it's on one of those darn cell phones.  But regular phones give the same problem.  A picture of the gypsy appears, along with 'Yes' and 'No' buttons, but I have no idea what the question is (I assume it's something like 'would you like me to help you with all your relationship/vampire problems?'), and when I click yes, the little quote box in the corner is blank aside from her picture.

I had that bug too, it was caused by a certain hack, I don't remember which. I think it was the dailygardener hack. If I remember I'll post here.

I like how cars ignore any cars that are blocking them in the driveway. In one household I had 6 adults, with 6 jobs, so I needed 6 cars. When I was trying to get alarms installed in all of them I had a huge strategy plan for getting two cars done at a time so that they wouldn't be blocked by others cars and cause a problem. Then I found out that cars just magically skip past any blocking them. Makes it much easier to navigate Smiley

One weird bug I had was I was playing a family of an elder couple and their daughter and son in law. I had the elder couple kiss, and all of a sudden the elder man because FURIOUS with his daughter. Um, why? All she was doing was feeding the fish! I still don't know why that happened.
37  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Nightlife bugs on: 2005 September 21, 00:52:27
Is Maxis looking into the bug where cars get stuck on community lots? I've been asking everywhere for help and nobody's offering any. Is anyone else having this problem repeatedly like me? I've disabled all hacks until a sure-fire list of hacks that work has been come up with (I keep finding hacks on the current lists that cause game problems).
38  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Nightlife bugs on: 2005 September 18, 16:34:02
I've noticed smoething about the bug where two or more sims can't return by car. When a CAR arrives on a lot it parks by the phone booth. When a TAXI arrives it parks at the end of a lot. However, if I have two or more sims in a car they prk the car at the end of the lot. Apparently, the car thinks it's a taxi. And when they get out, they can't get in.

I've just started taking taxis downtown, the cars are too bugged.

Oh, and two of my sims had boquets of flowers again, and it worked fine. It must have been a bug for that one house.
39  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: University installation advice? on: 2005 September 18, 02:48:04
The only problem I had with installation (though it was a big one) was that it didn't recognize the patch, so every time I inserted disk 4 on ts2 I got an error. Make sure the patch is installed, and that it hasn't been messed with.
40  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Nightlife bugs on: 2005 September 18, 02:44:01
The initial autonomous romantic interaction threw me offguard as it hasn't happened in my game before NL, and I suddenly saw all of my Sims' dates ending in disaster because everyone was in love with everyone else. I apologize for jumping the gun.  Undecided
This happened to me tonight. I have two couples living together (apartments) and one of the wives goosed the other husband! Of course, several family members were around to witness this, and they all had a fit. I am really missing that Romance Mod!

Howabominable, I had your problem tonight, as well. I had a teen go downtown on a date, and had to call a taxi to get home, as the car was unclickable. I used boolProp to delete the car so the taxi wouldn't get stuck. Now I have to buy a new car for this family.

How did you delete it with boolprop? I could find a way to delete it, so I had to exit without saving. At least if I can figure out how to delete the car so the taxi can get by I'll be okay with it (but I"ll be buying my family cheap cars lol).
41  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Flaming sack of poo?? Anyone else gotten this? on: 2005 September 18, 02:41:10
I agree with the turn-on turn-off thing. I hat the matchmaker give one of my sims a date and he didn't match EITHER of the turn-ons, but he DID match the turn-off. I can only assume that my sim was HIS dream date, not the other way around.
42  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Nightlife bugs on: 2005 September 18, 02:38:18
Does anyone have an answer for my bugs, or has encountered them? I'm really desparate to start using my cars again lol, I'm not going to use them until that bug is fixed.
43  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Nightlife bugs on: 2005 September 17, 21:45:39
I am having a really really big problem with cars. Whenever I drive a car to a community lot with two sims or more the car becomes stuck, and my sims can no longer use it. If they try to use a taxi they can't, because the taxi gets stuck behind the unusable car. Theonly way to fix this is for me to exit the game without saving. Does anyone have any input on this? I can't go downtown in a car until this is fixed.

I also have a bug with the boquet of roses. My sim went on a date with her husband (they were living together obviously). The next day when she came home from work she had a boquet of roses. When she tried to place it on the ground, they would sign happily, then the roses would disappear and she'd place a new boquet on the ground, sigh, and it would loop like that over and over. I had to delete the sim to fix the problem.

Note that I didn't have any hacks in-game at the time these two bugs occured. I have heard from other people that have the same problems, but no matter where I post nobody has come up with a solution. I hope Maxoid Tom can help lol, because I really want to send my sims downtown!
