26  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Need lesson in CPU on: 2006 February 03, 18:21:53
Actually, the CPU seems to make some difference. I had a AMD Athlon 64 3.0 GHz and upgraded to 3.5, after which almost all the default settings got a little higher. The max number of visitors also went up from 2 to 6 I think. I don't remember for sure since I use the cheat to up them.

There also is less lagging when I stubbornly continue playing large lots with loads of objects and many sims...

As for memory, I later upgraded from 1GB to 2 and didn't notice much difference. Up to 1GB the difference is really big though.

I have Inge's toddlers get out of bed and the baby controller. As far as I have noticed the only thing is that the adults run there to get out the toddlers when they wake up, but when they arrive the toddlers are already skilling... They stand by the crib for a while and go away again.

Sleepycat, this may be a stupid question but did you try right-clicking or ctrl+V? Rigth-clicking don't work at least in hair categorizing but selecting the field and using ctrl+V does (at least for me).

I have deleted all the grey textures except from the black hair, as long as all colours in the group has the same family number the grey hair will show up without duplicates in the bin. I read a thread at MTS2 some time ago: http://www.modthesims2.com/showthread.php?t=55427&page=1&pp=25 and have done as RGiles describes in post 67 (on page 3).

I have seen that some creators seems to make a separate package with only the grey in a family, this works fine too but takes a lot more work unless you are making a new hair. If I ever do recolour any hair I think I would do like that.

As RGiles points out in the thread you loose the grey texture if you delete the colour you kept it in using his method, but I still find it easiest.

Not that I know if this is the reason to your problems, but the Sempron 2600+ is a weaker CPU than P4 3.0.

Sempron is the budget line of AMD's CPUs too. In a gaming computer you would be better of with an Athlon 64, but even changing the Sempron to a 3000+ might help. Of course, if you don't have the 64 bit Sempron it would probably be difficult to find one since the 32 bit Sempron is being replaced by the 64 bit (which uses a different socket and need another motherboard).

This was of course an answer to Jorenne.

I had a problem with graphics breaking up when I had upgraded my computer. It was caused by overheating of the graphic card.

I don't know if it is the same as your problem, for me it would look like the pixels had been moved around. In the end I got coloured stripes all over the monitor. Replacing the fan on the graphic card and adding chassi fans did the trick.

I too had nannies staying after having made them selectable. Once I kept the nanny selectable all day and noticed that now and then the action "Bail autonomy" would pop up in her queue. I kept her selected until the last moment and cancelled that every time it popped up and she left normally.

However, I never tested if she would stay unless I cancelled it. I have never seen that action except then, since then I have always had someone home with the kids.
