sometimes simpe doesn't update names and pictures, but that may or may not be what's happening to you here. did you just look at the neighborhood or did you actually open the sim browser. i've noticed that if i am missing a sim in the neighborhood section they are marked as unknown until i click on them in the browser. but the duplicate message popup sounds like what i had when i didn't update simpe for pets, 'cause ima dork.

toy wants for pleasure sims are normal. i usually buy a teddy bear and stick it under some table.
28  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Pleasantview and Strangetown, genetic facelifts. on: 2008 September 01, 10:25:22
Pleasantview and Strangetown have just had a facelift.

We all know how borked the DNA for the premade sims are and this is just another fix for what ails them, with a twist.

What I did:
Updated thumbnails for all relevant dead breeders.
Fixed memories and family ties for Nervous, Singles/Curious family, and Skip.
Updated facial structures and DNA for affected sims.
  Choice of more green sims.
  Fixed a couple names.

I tried to produce sims that were as similar to the original as possible by using the founders pictures to recreate each family. After getting their faces as near as possible I would fiddle with their DNA and clothing until they looked right. For the most part I believe I was pretty successful but there are a few that just wouldn't cooperate. I did not use plastic surgery to accomplish this, it is all natural straight from the clown car. Except for PT#9. He either crashed into Strangetown and crushed his face or shrunk his nose in order to be a Pollination Technician, not quite certian which. (Originals on left, new on right.)

The dead already have new pictures in place but you will have to change appearence or grow up for the changes to be visible on others. Updating the skin color is a bit trickier. Changing appearence only fixes the face, leaving the body untouched. I fixed this in my game using Christianlov's painting and/or The Blender. It will also change for sunburn/tan/frostbite. I would have already fixed that myself but couldn't figure out how to do it in just the base game.

The aliens have landed. As I don't play Pleasantview I didn't know Nina and Dina had green genes. I've seen where some people play them alien and others avoid them like the plague. There are multiple versions so you can play them either way. I also always fix Jill and Johnny, multiple versions of them too.
I did not resurrect anybody. All I did was erase the extra Skip/Nervous/Darleen and make sure the memories showed the correct pictures. Brandi will still have a boy. Bella is still missing. I did at least try for Skip, but I screwed up and scratched that part off my project. I can't remember/find who originally fixed the names for the Singles and Dina, and the familial relationships for the Singles girls; but they are also changed.

These go in My Docs> EA> Sims2> Neighborhood> N00?> Characters. Please read included notes before placing in any folders for further information. Use at your own risk, not responsible for 'sploding computers or anybodies meltdown. Back up your neighborhood before use. Only use in a fresh unplayed neighborhood.

Many thanks to J.M. for the Batman box, TJ for The Blender, InTeen for instant baby deliveries, and Christianlov for the painting and cloner.

(psst...Kyna, you forgot to mention the grammar. Tell people to speak properly or risk being stoned.)

now is stoning just for grammar or for all violations? i believe i have only seen poking and the occasional food toss from the peanut gallery.

actually, i was going to ask you to offer him up if you made one. but i got here late today.  Tongue i saw cemetary man with an ex and loved it.
31  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Rename radio stations on: 2008 August 13, 21:30:26
if you try to just rename the files you get duplicate content in files with the original names. i think the game regenerates them when you play the radio.

and they learn by getting out there and doing it. it really doesn't take long.
32  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Allow strays on community lots on: 2008 July 23, 22:08:01
yes. vc is a per lot type thing. but beware; the gypsy, garden club, and crumplebottom are automatically banned from every lot.
33  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: [Work in progress] Polygamy or marriage of convenience on: 2008 July 16, 04:58:46
the options are:
(1) last name of sim in picture
(2) last name of sim NOT pictured
(3) and no change.

so if john doe is pictured and jane smith isn't it would be as follows.
(1) john and jane doe
(2) john and jane smith
(3) john doe and jane smith

the last name change has nothing to do with who is currently selected when the dialog pops up.
34  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: [Work in progress] Polygamy or marriage of convenience on: 2008 July 16, 00:15:49
i'm pretty sure that the sim in the picture on the name box is the sim that gets called to the arch, not directed to it.
35  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: What's on YOUR Wish List? on: 2008 June 20, 00:44:26
unfortunately mahris's mod conflicts with something, i think, in freetime. when everybody has finally managed to drop what they're doing and join the intended at the alter, they just pop out.  it's easier to use the blender to just make them married, but you don't get a memory.
36  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Allow strays on community lots on: 2008 June 12, 02:02:46
really? i always figured someone would point and laugh so i never asked. thanks.  Cheesy
37  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Allow strays on community lots on: 2008 June 11, 22:19:36
is there any way to expand this to allowing "owned" pets to visit lots unaccompanied by playables? ya know, they jump the fence and run across the street to the strip mall to beg for treats.
38  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Water "half tile" flowers fix & Water inaccessible flowers fix on: 2008 June 11, 22:12:17
*dances around* you mean i don't have to pick a full sized flower tile, rotate it and snap to grid, with moveobjects just to create a diagonal flowerbed with a decorative border? yay.  Cheesy so much less work to do now.
39  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: What's on YOUR Wish List? on: 2008 June 07, 17:40:41
i wish you could move a family from the sim bin into an empty house with out having to actually enter the lot. much like when you're just moving a sim in with an existing household. also, that plant babies are actually planted in the garden for the requisit three days. no plant springs forth from the earth almost fully grown.
40  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Townies and downtownies not dying properly on cue on: 2008 May 24, 17:57:41
I smote his ass about 12 times.

tried to kill my nanny of like that, twice. she left right away the first time. but instead of leaving the second time, even though pascal is home, she tries for force feed the offspring. i finally had to kill her with the death creator. now she haunts one of the upperstories that has no stairs to get down.  Tongue

you will be able to tell if they can do anything autonomously by clicking on one of them to see if "casual" appears in their pie menu. if it does, they might. if it doesn't they are considered off limits.
42  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Why walk when you can swim? on: 2008 April 02, 23:33:02
I had that issue with a Strangehood house with just the base game.
I am thinking it may be related to the routing problem where a sim will leave the house to walk completely around it, enter into the back door just to get to the room immediately adjacent to the one he was in.  I still get that sometimes as well.

thats the super fun curious house. they can't even go into the closest door, they have to walk all the way to the front door or go up the stairs to the second floor then back down the inside stairs to get to the adjacent room. the pool thing, i had that just once. pretty cute, but if it happened often i would have to tear all my hair out. Tongue
43  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: This is why EAxis sims should never breed on: 2008 March 23, 21:53:30
Tongue
another BAD combination is nervous subject and loki beaker.  (yeah, i know that in real life two guys would never have genetic spawn with each other, but i'm twisted that way).

oh, give me hope. circe and nervous are both pregnant from loki. i guess it was rather unfortunate for me that nervous and loki had better chemistry than circe and loki. oh well, gives them character.  Cheesy

Didn't Monique move over to Insiminator?  That's where I get all her stuff.

What section would she be in and under what name?  I was poking around there looking for her and there doesn't seem to be a Monique...

she doesn't have her own section, it's a sticky at the top of the page. drove me nuts looking for it a while back. http://www.insimenator.net/showthread.php?t=45926

46  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: FreeTime questions on: 2008 March 03, 17:22:04
...and if you're not outside, they are supposed to let themselves in without being greeted. I've yet to see these last two things happen.

are you serious?  Angry  is it with the door locked or unlocked? i had to lock all my doors for family use because my sims will just walk into any given house to raid the fridge and play pool/watch tv/stop up the toilet. then they wonder to a floor i don't use often and get stuck and die.
47  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Doors stuck "in use" on: 2007 September 22, 19:43:52
the front door to the grunt household never closes seeing as the very first thing buzz does is go out it to terrorize ripp. now logically i know this poses no real problem, but since seasons came out i keep hearing him bitching about the air conditioner. it sends me into fits of giggles when he races out the still open door to gripe at someone.
48  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: sims will not age on: 2007 September 08, 15:10:32
that is exactly why i started keeping a die by my moniter. upon birth i write their destinies in my little sims book. i roll to see if they can do major things, like get married or bear offspring. and minor stupid things that i wouldn't normally have them do, like wear face paint. i thought about rolling for college but then changed my mind. i wanted them all to sleep around a lot get a good education.
49  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Deleting Maxis Items. on: 2007 September 05, 00:50:41
phaenoh has been doing quite a bit of default clothing items too. they look pretty darn good.
50  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: sims will not age on: 2007 September 05, 00:39:41
it's just that all my sims are exactly the same because i can't bring myself to intentionally holding them back from college or the top of the career ladder or the perfect mate. i was just using it for the spice of not knowing who was going to knock who up. then i was going to stick them together, for better or worse. my young adult are sluts, i wanted some of them to pay for it.
i would never use it for my teens, no fail birth control flavor pak. i got it mainly to see what the big deal was about, but will keep it until i upgrade my hard drive then ask myself if it really was what i was looking for. i may keep it for the same reason i use harder grades, harder jobs, deadlier disease among others. to make things harder for me. i use the acr, couldn't play without it. that and the downloadable crystal ball are how i pick life partners. wow, i don't sound defensive at all do i?
unfortunately i am a perfectionist. i can't control my own so i control theirs so much so that it becomes boring and predictable. take it out of my hands and it relieves my anal ocd tendencies and i'm having fun.

anyway, i don't believe for a second that it kills kittens. proof? 13 fuzzy black walking allergens roam my halls, popping out from behind doors to hang from a pant/bare leg. chasing the dogs. climbing the wall of the fireplace. bringing in birds and mice to scare/captivate the children.

eta- invisigoth- it was the original maxis families that had junk townie syndrome. i made all my own townies this time around.
