26  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Why are my rugs looking like crap!? on: 2007 February 15, 16:14:59
I just went and looked and all of mine do the same.  All of the rugs end up lying at the same level as the flooring instead of on top.  Weird.  I do not have the patch installed.

27  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Game Locking up with no error report on: 2007 February 15, 09:53:35
Well, I spent the evening in SimPE changing all my sims careers over to maxis ones and then deleted all of the custom careers.  I also went through my hacks and just deleted any that I really didn't need/want anymore.

I played the game for an hour and it didn't lock up.  I also for some weird reason did not get the flashing blue streaks, but that is intermittent so that doesn't mean anything.  I'll play the game some more tonight and hope it goes ok.  I hadn't thought about it, but the houses I was playing had sims with custom careers.  When I was in SimPE I looked at the last sims I had been playing when it locked up and they had unknown for their career.  I don't know which custom career they had, so I just deleted them all.

The funny thing in all this is in two weeks I'll be clearing out all of my hacks for next EP.   Tongue

Hegelian, I hear you on the mortgage, utilities, insurance, groceries and gas.  I wouldn't have been able to get this PC built if we hadn't done a refi on our house at the end of last year.

Thanks again for the help, I do appreciate it.

I'm sorry if you took what I said personal.  It wasn't meant to be.  I am not a novice when it comes to troubleshooting and repair.  I did it for over 9 years as my job.  I understand about BIOS settings and driver issues and the like.  I've been building PC's for over 13 years so I have a very good understanding of hardware and software.

If I can run Doom3, with the settings cranked, with no issues then I have serious doubt that it is a motherboard, memory or hardware issue.  Doom 3 is way more resource and hardware intensive than The Sims.  I can also run and work out of Adobe Photoshop without incidence.  I can even open up Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Photoshop, Firefox, SimPE, Bodyshop all at once and still not have any issues.

The blue artifacts are not the flashing dark blue missing meshes of objects.  I know what those are.  The flashes I see are baby blue in color and streak and flash across the whole screen.  It hard to describe, but it is not the missing mesh flash.  It happens on an empty lot.

Thanks for the help, I'll figure it out one way or the other.

I don't have Jordi's hiders.  I am still going through my millions of sims changing any custom careers to Maxis ones.  Tongue  I'll be here all night doing that.  Cheesy

Hegelian, my PC is brand new.  I spec'd out what I wanted and built it. I can't get that much more bleeding edge without going broke.  Cheesy   If it were hardware/driver issues my other games like Doom 3 and Oblivion would crash or lock up also.  I have a temperature gage on the hard drive and motherboard and they are ok.  The video card I have monitors the temperature and it's in the green, even when I am running Doom 3.  I have the most current drivers for everything and the current bios update which I did last week.

No other programs are having this issue which leads me to believe it is specific to The Sims and a hack or CC I downloaded causing the conflict.  I'll bet the custom careers are the culprit.  I am in the middle of going through all of my peeps in my neighborhoods and changing their career to Maxis ones before deleting them.   I backed up my neighborhoods prior to doing this because I can just see a great fiery explosion happening.

I am also getting flashes of blue artifacts recently. They are the color of the sky.   I am wondering if they stem from the shiny floor overlay done by, I cannot remember who, but I get the artifacts even on lots that I am not using them.  They do not harm anything, they are just annoying.  My game runs like a top and is very fast and smooth until it just hard locks.

Here are my specs.

Thanks, I'll give that a try and see what happens.

I have been having issues with my game locking up at random intervals.  It hard locks and I have to push the reset switch on my PC.  I have everything up to Pets installed, but not the patch.  I did have the patch but it caused so many issues I reloaded Pets and didn't patch it again.

I have removed everything out of my downloads folder and it will run fine, so I know it has to be a hack or object.  Unfortunately I have assloads of CC installed and really would go "crazier" than I already am if I have to go through it all.

I did run a scan using the Sims 2 Hack Conflict Detection Utility, but I don't know if all of the conflicts are true.  I've attached the scan file and if anyone can see any obvious reasons for the lock ups I'd be very grateful.

I've also attached my config file.

Has anybody noticed anything weird going on with their townies' hair post-patch? I had a Bluewater townie drop into one of my sims' stores yesterday with some sort of bizarre scalp disease or something.

SimPE says she's genetically blonde/blonde, but she's always walking around with brown hair. I could've sworn she used to have brown eyebrows, too, but I may just be remembering wrong--anyway, she has blonde ones now. And a blonde...scalp?

I do use default replacement skintones (obviously) and bin all my custom hairs, but I don't think they're causing the problem here, as all my other sims are fine. I also have playables with this same haircut that don't have this problem.

I have had this issue for quite some time, way before patching Pets.  I also use different default skintones, but was using them before without this happening.  I have my game loaded on another computer and it doesn't seem to do this and I haven't found what is causing it.  It does drive me nuts though.

Yeah, it just seems that it is taking more time to try and figure out a work around than to just reinstall.
35  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: No SP content showing up on: 2007 January 24, 14:24:42
I thought the game writes entries into the registry?  I may be wrong, but I thought it did.  I don't think you can do this with out reinstalling, but I am not 100% sure.

We are currently at $1050. That buys us about 2-3 months at monthly rates. Given that this server is going down faster than the Titanic, current opinion is that I commit now and try to scrounge the rest of the funds by the end of the month.

Who would you be getting this server and hosting from?
37  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Puppy chow: the REAL thing on: 2007 January 11, 03:20:49
The only time dogs look cute are when they're on fire!

I wish pets could burn. I always wanted to reinact cartmans cat catching on fire and zipping around.

Does retardation run in your family or are you just plain moronic?

I'm all for lighting you on fire and watching you dance around.

Rainbow, I would just like to take this opportunity to point out that your new name SUCKS and you should go back to being Rainbow.

Well, it's a good thing that your opinion matters for squat.  Quit your whining.   Tongue

39  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: unable to place doors and windows on: 2006 December 24, 03:05:36
Thanks for the answers, all i found in userStartup.cheat is

intProp SeeThem 231
boolProp testingCheatsEnabled true
boolProp allow45DegreeAngleOfRotation true

by the way what is wrong with insim and inteen? All I really have been able to find in terms of these types of mods is those big ones (finding free mods is pretty hard with the sims!) and SeeThem2 to remove the censor, but im more then happy to look at alternatives to these types of mods if anyone has them.

I'll try the moving out the Awesome mods next.

It's intProp SeeThem 231.  That is Shaklin's hack that runs to allow things like 45 degree, turn off blur and move objects off the grid.  The grid function works but prevents you from placing doors and windows.  I found this out when I first tried using it.

You need to find the file SeeThem2.exe and double click on it and click on the plants in the upper right corner to make the red X appear.  This will turn off the move objects out of grid, but will allow you to use the other functions of the hack.

I use Macrotastics, don't get me wrong.  I just don't use it all the time every time.  It varies how I play and I like having variety.   Besides, sometimes I load the game up, play for five minutes and then pause and walk away totally forgetting about it.  I get bored easily as well.  Tongue
41  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Stop all that infernal hugging on: 2006 December 11, 07:21:06
I have used them and it's boring.  You miss a lot of stuff going on by doing this.  Why play if you are just going set macros and then sit there with your arms crossed watching them do the macros?

While there may be a few annoyances the funny things they do out weighs the stupid stuff they do.
42  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Stop all that infernal hugging on: 2006 December 11, 06:25:53
Turn free will off, dammit!  Let the only socialising that takes place be under the direction of macros...  no more problems!

Not just no, but hell no.  I'm not into micro manging sims, especially when I have a full lot.  I'm not that much of a control freak, thanks.
43  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Stop all that infernal hugging on: 2006 December 11, 03:47:29
They have done this from the get go, prior to installing any hacks.  The only behavior hacks I use are yours and TJ's.  If they are not hugging they are congratulating one another.  It's sickening.
44  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Stop all that infernal hugging on: 2006 December 11, 01:54:26
Since I have been playing Pets I have found my sims are constantly hugging each other.  It's to the point of where they will all stand grouped together and take turns hugging each other incessantly.

Does anyone know of a hack that would help with this problem?   Huh  I have looked but have not found anything.
45  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Problem's I've been having with Pets on: 2006 December 09, 15:58:11
Buying a new PC is a bit extreme, well actually very extreme.  If updating the video drivers does not work I'd look into upgrading to a newer video card.  What you have is ok, but you could do a lot better.

Hell, if you can afford a new PC why not just upgrade to a BFG GeForce 8800 GTS 640MB GDDR3 PCI Express Graphics Card and a BFG 800-Watt ATX CPU Power Supply because you need this power supply to handle it.  It's what I have and well, let's say I'm more than happy with it.

It all depends on how much you want to spend.
46  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Sims reset every time I click on them on: 2006 November 16, 18:20:03
Well, I'm not very savvy with SimPE so I do not know how to properly do that...obviously.  Cheesy  I tried to correct what I thought was putting them into their properly family and then my game went cattywampus.  I am not sure how to safely do that and now I'm leery about messing with the character files.
47  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Sims reset every time I click on them on: 2006 November 16, 15:50:09
I tried the simlogical shrub, but he was not listed anywhere.  I also tried the summon part of Insim and he was not listed there either.  Huh I thought since he was set as default that he would show up with the other default sims, but I guess I was wrong.

I had not thought of the adoption thing, thanks. I may try the adoption to see if I can get the two babies back.  What is bad is that she still has all of her flags set with the husband and when I was unable to undo the marriage flag using insim.  I've used that before on other sims and it's worked fine.

It's not that big of a deal.  I'll just have her find another love and try to set marriage tags for them.

Maybe I'll back up the neighborhood again and try to uncheck her marriage flag.   Shocked

48  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Sims reset every time I click on them on: 2006 November 16, 15:13:19
I had forgotten that I messed with character files.  I caused the fiery explosion by messing with character files in SimPE. I had tried to move out two teens and their three babies and in the process lost the save function.  I re-enabled save and stupid me actually saved even though the move out was not successful.  The two teens and a baby moved out, but the other two were left behind.  When I went back into the lot one teen was still there with two of the babies.  The other teen and baby had disappeared and was not in the bin.

So my stupid ass went into SimPE and saw that they had been set to default sims and tried to change their info and well, I guess I caused the error with the move in function which then caused the error on every sim I clicked on.

Lesson learned and I will not mess with character settings any more.  Luckily I did a backup prior to making these changes.  I guess the husband and other two babies will have to be MIA.

Thanks for the replies.

I have EP's up to OFB and today I started getting an error every time I clicked on a teen sim.

Error: gosub tree number.

Attached is the error log.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
