26  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: BV: Anybody Updating These Abandoned Mods? on: 2007 September 08, 01:42:37
Thanks MissDoh for posting the hack diff but 3 mods that I'm really worried about weren't in your list. So if someone could please please please check them for me I'd be very grateful. I'd check them myself but I don't actually have a copy of BV in my possession. I'll upload them in case no one else has a copy themselves. I have a feeling, since these are ones I really want, they will be incompatible...

You don't need BV to check them, all you need is hackdiff and the diff report located here:

http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com/smf/index.php/topic,9517.0.html

Oh, thanks. Got it working... Only one of the 3 mods came up broken which I pretty much guessed anyway, only I'm not sure how broken it really is. This is what it says...

28  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Adult to Young Adult Outfits on: 2007 September 04, 20:11:20
What I do when I want outfits enabled for YA and A I use the scan folder option in SimPE and scan where the outfits are (usually in a separate folder before I actually put them into my downloads) then I select the outfits I want to change and part way down under the "operations tab" at the bottom you can check boxes for what ages you want it available for, I select YA or A whatever is not ticked off, then you click "set" above the boxes. You can also change the category of outfits this way and its really simple to do.
29  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Sims2Exception on: 2007 September 04, 00:58:07
I invited the crashing sim over to see what she was wearing, it turns out she's wearing one of these tops:http://www.modthesims2.com/showthread.php?t=237871

I'm curious if these shirts are having the same mesh problem then, if thats the case I'll just remove them...
30  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Sims2Exception on: 2007 September 03, 20:48:44
I've removed that mesh from my game, but don't recall even using it... and it's very strange that the sim's icon showed up in the top left hand corner no problem, I'd assume if generating the thumbnail was really the problem it would have crashed when it showed up there, no?

Either way I still haven't received a phone call from that sim to check if its actually still broken or not.
31  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Sims2Exception on: 2007 September 03, 03:18:36
Don't post simexception logs, they are totally useless.

As for crashing, who are you calling, and what version of game are you using? NL based installs have been known to be very buggy, and the old "Dress As Top" meshes are also known to crash in phone-based scenarios where the wearer's thumbnail appears.

Ok, wasn't sure if it was useful at all. I've got all expansions up to Seasons and the thumbnails shows up fight, the game crashes part way into the phone call which makes me wonder if it was one of them "do you want to go downtown" calls or something.
32  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Sims2Exception on: 2007 September 03, 02:48:44
You're absolutely sure it was the phone call that did it?  Sometimes when two or three things are happening at the same time, it's hard to be sure which of those things is responsible.

Oh, and the phone is a standard Maxis phone?  I've had problems with non-standard custom phones, and this has been a problem since Sims 1, but never had the Maxis phone cause a crash.  And the sim at the other end of the phone isn't really there....It's not like the game actually activates that sim.  And sometimes they phone up and walk by at the same time, and even that doesn't seem to cause a crash.

I'm almost positive its the phone call, I made sure the other sim was off the lot and at class before the phone was answered, crashed then too. As far as I know nothing was happening, and if it was someone coming onto the lot it still would have crashed when he didn't pick the phone up.

The phone is a maxis phone, I don't use any custom phones in my game.
33  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Sims2Exception on: 2007 September 03, 02:18:22
Do you know who the sim was who called?

Yes, I'm just not sure why the phone call with her crashed my game. I was playing the family she's part of before I started playing the one that my game crashed on. Yet they've had phone calls from that sim's brother and other members of the family with no problems.
34  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Sims2Exception on: 2007 September 03, 02:01:19
Well I'm not sure what the problem was, but I just made sure the phone call wasn't answered and every other phone call after that worked fine. I've been waiting for the sim that was part of the screwed up call to call back but she hasn't yet. If it happens again when she calls I'll know what the problem is but it hasn't crashed since anyway.
35  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Sims2Exception on: 2007 September 02, 18:18:44
I've tested this twice in my game, the same situation occurs at the exact same moment twice and with the same scenario. I have two brothers living on a lot, ones leaving for college class and the other is answering the phone to talk to another controllable sim on another lot. Both times I've played this log the exact same thing has happened where the game just freezes and I get an application error. The second time I ran the game in testing cheats mode and no errors came up in the game but both times I did get a sims2exception error. I'll upload the second one here if anyone can understand it and help me figure out what seems to be crashing my game.
36  TS2: Burnination / The War Room / Re: Deleted 2: Electric Boogaloo! on: 2007 April 13, 17:11:09
Close and return to Ye Olde SimPE, or try to do this in Newfangled Craptastic, if you can figure that out. I have no idea where that went.
Now kill their files, as circled in blue. DO NOT KILL THE SimDNA (SDNA), as marked in red!

Repeat for all sims you prepped for delete earlier.

This was the only part I didn't understand. How do you get to that screen? Do you open the character file or find it through the neighbourhood file? I couldn't find anything that looked like that in old or new simpe. Forgive me if I'm being stupid and over looked something, I'd really like to know how to get there exactly so I can do this properly.

When the social worker comes to take my kids away I get a stupid error and I'm not sure why or whats causing it... if someone could help I'd really appreciate it.
39  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Seasons: What mods are you already begging for? on: 2007 March 05, 14:14:22
- Limit the amount of times idiot Sims go to the window and think, "Oooh, it's snowing!" and "Aww, it's raining."  They can't run a business if they're constantly looking out the window to see what they just saw five minutes ago.

This mod is already in testing and can be downloaded here: http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com/ffs/seasons/test/

I'm using it and it seems to work probably 90% of the time, I still get some sims looking up at the sky but it doesn't cancel out any interaction they are already doing.
40  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: I'm at a loss.. seasons crash on load on: 2007 March 03, 18:25:50
You could also delete the cigen.package file and see if that improves anything.

That was another thing I tried. I've got it working now, was able to play it for a few hours today. I'm pretty sure the problem ended up being a messed up modularstairs file that I had edited to allow custom stairs. I ended up recreating that file and now the game runs smoothly.
41  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Pre-Seasons clothing enabled as Outerwear | Update 4 on: 2007 March 03, 09:34:57
would it be possible to get the family fun stuff dragon costumes for kids and the teddy bear outfits that came with open for business for toddlers made into outerwear? Maybe I will actually use the outfits if only to keep my sim kiddies warm in the winter time.
42  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: I'm at a loss.. seasons crash on load on: 2007 March 01, 21:07:30
I know, double posting is baaad. I figured I'd post here since I caved and reinstalled EVERYTHING. (damnit) Now things seem to be working fine, still haven't gotten a chance to actually play the damn game. I ran it in 800x600 windowed no sound mode to test after reinstalling everything and worked fine so tomorrow I shall test 1440x900 and non windowed sound mode. Too tired to try it tonight, especially if it decides to crash again.
43  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: I'm at a loss.. seasons crash on load on: 2007 March 01, 18:18:46
Try a different driver. The problem is that there basically isn't a stabe driver for the DX10 cards yet, period. Nvidia was in a rush to get them out and beat ATI, but I think in the end it may hurt them, the drivers are so problematic.

I was using the driver off the cd before I decided to update to new ones today to see if that fixed the problem, so older drivers don't work either. I'm just going to assume this isn't a driver problem and has to be something else since 2 different drivers (stable and unstable) did not work... The drivers off the cd were the only ones I could use for pets, already had the driver issues with that ep...
44  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / I'm at a loss.. seasons crash on load (solved) on: 2007 March 01, 18:00:48
Well I got seasons and haven't even had the chance to play it yet. I installed it and went to play it and it gets about 4/5 of the way through the loading screen and then crashes.

I have no custom content in my game, I'm running on a fresh reinstall (reinstalled from scratch yesterday due to a bug with disappearing uni clothes). I've updated my drivers, using nvidia 8800 gs video card. My system is almost twice as powerful as what they recommend.  I've tried just about everything, reinstalled seasons a couple times, even went so far to run a minimal boot using msconfig to make sure no other apps were screwing up the install process. No such luck.

I'm at a total loss as to what to do aside from reinstalling all expansion packs all over again (god forbid I have to). Anyone else have other suggestions before I cave to that option?
45  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Sim rolled "make a zombie" want for recently deceased pet on: 2007 February 21, 17:40:52
I kind of thought it might be a maxis bug. It's a good thing they fixed all the bugs with the pets patch! {/sarcasm}
46  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Sim rolled "make a zombie" want for recently deceased pet on: 2007 February 21, 15:00:08
Is this even possible? Google search results turned up "pets can be resurrected but not as a zombie" How am I supposed to make the pet a zombie? What price needs to be paid? i tried 1,000 and the dog got resurrected but the want wasn't activated.
47  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Maxis/EA update re nVidia & Pets incompatibility on: 2007 February 02, 09:36:32
I got a Nvidia card before I knew there was such a problem with them. I have the 8800 GTS and when I installed the drivers for it off the website everything was horribly blurry. All my fonts and a lot of smaller graphics were hard to see. I uninstalled the drivers from the website and installed the ones that came on the disc I got with my card and perfect crystal clear images and font. Apparently most problems with Nvidia cards right now are all in the latest drivers that have been released and rolling back your drivers to an older version (before the problems started happening in the September drivers I believe) usually does the trick. Hopefully Nvidia will get their asses in gear and make drivers that actually work from now on...
48  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Moved mailboxes & trashcans on: 2007 February 02, 09:27:15
I've never had any problems at all moving my mailbox. I keep it by the door so if the house is far back from the road my sims don't have to walk very far to pay the bills. I've never noticed anything wonky in doing so...
49  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Pets patch released on: 2007 February 01, 10:26:18
About the roof slope cheat... they didn't explain how to use it very well. I've got it working in the patched version of the game and this is how I had to do it.

Make sure you have placed the roof that you want. Type in the cheat (individualroofslopeangle [#15-75]) then you hold alt and ctrl and click the roof you want to change the angle of. It should work since thats how I got it working in my game.
50  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Testers Wanted: Pets Custom Content Updater Program! on: 2006 November 03, 01:07:10
Known slottage issue, I recall. I think it was corrected in an update.

My thoughts too, but wasn't sure. I'll try updating it again with the new version and see if that fixes it. Thanks
