Nephris, that's a really lovely layout you have going. I like the colors you used for the interior too; it's a very warm scheme.

To clarify the special condition... the path CAN be built over partially and, say, be made into a front entry-way, so long as most of it remains, correct? I'm pretty tired right now, so I'm a little befuddled if it would be okay or not.
27  TS2: Burnination / Planet K 20X6 / Re: EAxis house of FAIL: December on: 2009 January 03, 06:42:01
I personally nominate ALL of the starter houses in Veronaville. Nice lots with gardening room and small houses that have very bad, cramped layouts. But that's me.  Grin

I like 1097 as well and tend to agree with chobeegal. I already have some ideas on how to use the diagonal wall as an interior feature.

Allowing people to expand the house forwards three to five squares would give them the option to build anything from an extra bathroom to an extra bedroom. Should they choose to expand upwards after expanding the ground floor, it would give them extra space up top as well.
28  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Did M&G break my build and buy custom content? on: 2008 December 19, 14:41:09
Thank you, Sagana and Skadi.

The custom content was never disabled during installation as it usually is when you install an EP. The custom content dialog came up on starting up my game, as it always has, so, yes, custom has been enabled. I'll double check this anyway, and if that doesn't work, I'll reinstall the CEP.

ETA: Yay! Thank you again, Sagana and Skadi, doing both worked perfectly and I now have my build and buy mode CC back.
29  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Did M&G break my build and buy custom content? on: 2008 December 19, 06:30:25
I don't know if anyone else is having problems like this, but I'm hoping someone can help me.

When I got M&G, I completely removed my downloads folder and then installed after having read that it is treated more like an expansion pack rather than a stuff pack. I put the folder in again after the installation finished and everything seemed perfectly normal,  but it wasn't. I was building a house when I noticed that I was missing phaenoh's Georgian Manor set, which is a set that I use quite frequently. On top of which, I was missing almost everything that I had downloaded for build mode. Only a few custom fences remained and even stranger is the fact that I am not missing any custom floors, paints/wallpapers, or half-walls. I then checked the rest of my game and found that ALL of my buy mode custom content was missing.

However, none of the live mode stuff is missing. I can still use all of my custom skins, hairs, jewelry, clothing, make-up, etc.

I have done a binary search, removed all my hacks, but nothing seems to help. Is this a case of tight pants, outdated hacks, or EAxis ruining all my fun? I'd really appreciate any help that anyone can offer.

ETA: Happy now? It's starlady, by the way.

*dies of shock from the pink ... thing*

Sheesh, if people want to be that... uh... wtf-ish, they need to go download Furcadia and be wtf-ish there.

I agree with Avalikia though -- having a well made skin in game without the warped faces would be fun. I mean, what fantasy neighborhood would be complete without one or two furries running a muck?

I just think that the Sims 2 game engine isn't very conducive to making such things.

Gorgeous art gallery, floppyboo!

Everyone who has posted so far has done such a great job with the lot, and I'd download them all. Unfortunately, my computer would die of shock. It can barely handle the lot that I submitted.  Cry

Maybe I can get an upgrade for Christmas!  Grin

Well, I got surprised last night when my boyfriend handed me a copy of Mansion and Garden Stuff. Yay! So, I went a *little* wild with all the new pretties and added them to my house. I would greatly appreciate any feedback you all have. I'd have to say that so far, this is my favorite revamp of any of the houses of fail that I've remodeled. Please scan this lot again with CleanInstaller. I've scanned it myself, but I'm paranoid when it comes to things like this. Hacks and CC can be sneaky.

I've remodeled 111 Stratford Street into a five bedroom, five bathroom house. I forgot to take pictures of it, but there is a spawn containment area that's equipped for twins. I couldn't take pictures of the bathrooms because they're tiny. The teen room, spawn room, and master bedroom all have their own private bathrooms, and the boy's and girl's room is actually a Jack and Jill suite (meaning they share a bathroom). I believe that the house is fully awesomespec, and there is, of course, room for a driveway.

@Mystik -- RAWR! I'm so jealous! I was trying to do a Morrocan/Mediterranean feel in my house and I haven't gotten my M&G stuff pack yet! I love the windows and the feel of the house in general. *insert jealous emoticon here*
35  TS2: Burnination / Planet K 20X6 / Re: EAxis house of FAIL: December on: 2008 December 03, 04:10:55
I have a question also... it's a technicality, really, but I would still like to know. The rules say that we may not (RE)MOVE original exterior walls, but what about changing them? Say I wanted to replace the very top of the west tower with greenhouse walls, but not make the room bigger or smaller... would it still count as removing the exterior walls or not?
36  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: How to see a ghost? on: 2008 December 01, 14:09:52
@miramis - Really? I just acquired my first ghost ever and he was a dormie (a VERY annoying cow mascot). I killed him off and all he's done so far is wander around and possess lamps.

I will most definitely have to try the bear trick, as he is practically useless as aspiration fodder. All the controllable sims on the lot are much too nice to be able to kick his tombstone.
37  TS2: Burnination / Planet K 20X6 / Re: EAxis House of Fail: November on: 2008 November 21, 07:22:21
@chobeegal: <_<; My boyfriend has the tendency to do the same thing. A good house is a house without windows and doors. I usually feel sorry for them and let them out after awhile.

@honeygirl: Keep going, your house is looking great so far.
38  TS2: Burnination / Planet K 20X6 / Re: More Awful Than You! November: Build Mode Abominations on: 2008 November 21, 07:09:52
@Jesslla - I started to laugh when I clicked the link you posted -- I have that particular build set in my game. In fact, I have a lot of the "Lost in Space" stuff in my game for an alien colony. All of the houses have been built with that set.  Grin
39  TS2: Burnination / Planet K 20X6 / Re: More Awful Than You! November: Build Mode Abominations on: 2008 November 14, 05:34:49
Well, pizza walls would be an excellent way to advertise your wares if you ran a pizza parlor... "Ladies and Gentlemen, this is our finest up close photo of our super-deluxe, all-natural, no preservatives added pepperoni pizza! Gaze upon its grease-laden goodness! And to your left is our cheese pizza... Please line up at the cash register in a single-file line when you are ready to order..."
40  TS2: Burnination / Planet K 20X6 / Re: EAxis House of Fail: November on: 2008 November 09, 03:00:05
Wow, beautiful house jolrei. I suck at doing modern looking houses and I generally dislike most "modern mansions"; they lack warmth, in my opinion. Yours is just the opposite. Very cool, yet inviting, with lots of texture and splashes of color to draw interest. I think I like the conservatory and master bedroom the best. I especially like the mirror behind the bed -- it kind of gives the illusion that there's more to the room behind the bed!
41  TS2: Burnination / Planet K 20X6 / Re: EAxis House of Fail: November on: 2008 November 07, 21:26:05
Oops... I broke the rules too and removed the second level of the back decking. I used the floorelevation cheat to bring the foundation back down to its normal height. It would've looked awfully funny with floating stairs, you know...  Tongue

Thanks, photo! I couldn't figure out why there were TWO of every picture, since I only took one. You must be right -- I have somehow uploaded the thumbnails instead of the actual pictures as I did use the in game camera. Would taking them in windowed mode do that to them as well? Forgive the stupid question.
44  TS2: Burnination / Planet K 20X6 / Re: EAxis House of Fail: November on: 2008 November 06, 20:36:25
Well... here it goes. I'm submitting my house. I will ask that any of you who actually download my house scan it *again* with CleanInstaller. I followed their steps exactly and it appears that I have packaged no CC/hacks with my house. But to be safe, please, please, please scan it again, even though I scanned it twice. I have all EPs/SPs.

I completely gutted the interiors and kept it the same size. It has two bedrooms and two baths, a rec room, a large living area, small kitchen and attached dining room. No lockable pantry, but it does have a lockable stairwell and full perimeter fencing. I did enlarge the back deck and give it a little pier and pond for fishing. There is also a garden with orchard trees, for those of your simmies who, uh, are addicted to gardening.

There's a driveway, of course, but I didn't really feel like messing with an attached garage. I have a tendency to do too many attached garages when I build.

And, here's the link for download. Sorry there's so many pictures... and that they're kinda crappy. I would appreciate feedback on the house, though...

Here is my contribution: http://nene.modthesims2.com/download.php?t=292486

Not as horrible as Ella's entry, but still pretty bad. I can't decide which one's worse for this particular set, though...  the black or the gray. I think that the top part would've looked nice on its own.
46  TS2: Burnination / Planet K 20X6 / Re: EAxis House of Fail: September on: 2008 September 23, 18:33:49
All these houses are beautiful, really! Salix, I'm not a fan of Pink Floyd, and I don't know most of the songs, but I did get the themes to each room, which was pretty awesome way to do the house in my opinion.

I'd upload mine... but... well, it's not done yet. Between my computer crashing every ten minutes or doing Very Bad Things with the graphics in the game, I haven't wanted to work on the lot. I may upload it, if I feel like wrestling with the game to finish it, but I can tell you that my version of the house has an attached garage!  Grin My very first, I might add. If I do, I'll have to get ahold of the clean installer and figure out how to scan my packaged lot. Yes, I am a newb at most of this stuff (mainly just working with the build cheats and the clean installer), even though I've been playing the Sims for about 3 years.

So, I decided to go check out Renegade Sims, because the link was listed here. I found more Peggy stuff that looks great when advertised... and sucks when in the game. Credits for the pics from Renegade Sims. XD

Semi-confirmation on that one, Karen; When I click save on any lot, it takes it about 5 seconds before the actual "saving" dialog pops up. I know for sure that it doesn't do that on my boyfriend's computer, and that the dialog appears directly after I hit the save button.
49  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Apartment Life Borkiness, or how i ended the world in 1 hour. on: 2008 September 05, 22:57:25
I finally have my game, and I haven't seen any of the major listed borkinations here in my game. The game has crashed a couple of times for me (but that's pretty much normal on this computer, it's old. My boyfriend has AL installed on his computer too so that I can play on his pc when he's not around... no crashes there, no borkinations, either).

There are a few, though, I think. There's 22 pages here, so I can't remember all that I've read.

I have noticed that the landlord will come every day and give me the message that, "Everything is in working order, there's nothing for me to do here. I will be back tomorrow." Someone mentioned this earlier, and I'm not sure if it's the same message they're getting, but to me it seems that him showing up each day is a "feature" rather than a bork. He hangs around from about 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. and, if nothing's broken or there's no gardening to be done, he leaves. (Another feature... "weekend apartment gatherings" ... how often does that happen?)

I don't know if it's a good thing or a bad thing to be unable to see anything that the inhabitants in the other apartments are doing... it would be rather nice to know what they're up to.

Both Samantha and Kimberly Cordial have one-bolt attractions to their respective witch friends in my game and have more than once acted upon it in free will... not that the good or evil witches minded much (if they goose their witch friends one more time... I'm going to scream). I have also noticed that it is much more difficult for Kimberly to gain evilness. Samantha maxed out her goodness level in about two days of constant studying/making reagents/etc. while Kimberly, who was subjected to the same treatment, is still simply "evil."

There should at least be some sort of option as to whether you would like to send them to school on the bus or have them walk, as you do in real life (if they're close enough to walk, that is). That would make a most awesome hack, in my opinion.
