As far as I am aware, when you go to set the price of anything, the buy/build mode is opened?
27  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Real Estate Office on: 2006 March 09, 02:07:23
Unless you are being sarcastic, I imagined that they would buy the deed and that would appear in their inventory. Decoration my arse. Whats the point of having the store?? I have been giving Maxis some slack on this EP. Really I have. But now, making bogus shops? Thats just shitty and f*cken annoying!!
28  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: What's your second and third impression of OFB? on: 2006 March 09, 02:04:09
With the cash register, I have started issuing my own badges using the "spawn..." boolprop cheat. I don't issue them straight away but after one sim week, my little sims get a bronze badge in checkout and so on...

Does anyone know the point to this shop in Bluewater?? Lovely little lot. Nice office layout but what do you sell? Books? Office furniture?

I bought two businesses and took the deeds out of my sims inventory, placed them on a shelf and I can't price them. Sims come in and read them. Thats it.

Am I missing a vital clue?

My reporter turned up last night after only 20mins of playing. He has a flat top hair cut, tank top and jeans. Square jaw. Again, I thought that I did everything right, but alas, no report.

I did however get my Prima Guide last night and it says that if get some stars from the reporter but still no report, that just means you didn't get enough. BUT the next time the reporter visits you carry on from the star count from his first visit. I.E. you reach 80% of your stars from the first visit, no report. Next visit you only need 20% to get a positive report.
31  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Reporters not reporting? on: 2006 March 08, 03:05:09
I personally have never had a problem with the Prima Guide before. Not once. And yes, I'm at the point with this game where just some basic tiny tips would make a huge difference to my game play. Hence I never knew about the wholesale price thing when buying your stock. I was just buying stuff from the "buy" screen and just thought it was wholesale.

I found some quirky stuff too in my neighbourhood after installing OFB. Dylan Broke went to view some roses that were left after a date (I don't recall this happening) and I got an error message. Had to delete them. When his date that he was bonking at the time this occurred left, then the flowers turned up as usual.

I have been hassling the Electronic Boutique guys about the Prima guide and 'James' just told me that boxes have arrived, he hasn't had a chance to open them but to call back in 2 hrs. So hopefully in 2 hrs time I'll be in my car driving to the store to get a copy of my guide. I hope it explains all.
34  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: "Be cashier" doesn't? on: 2006 March 07, 23:12:59
Yep, mine take a lifetime to instigate a check-out (register) as well.
35  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Reporters not reporting? on: 2006 March 07, 23:09:16
Yep, pucker buttercup.
36  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Reporters not reporting? on: 2006 March 07, 22:36:36
So what do you have to do to get a good report? I dazzled the reporter sucessfully and talked to him socially. Appreciated him. I made sure he got personal service from my sim at the register (she's a gold medal check out chick) and did everything but kiss his butt.

Please do JMP. Please do.
38  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: A Few OFB Questions ... on: 2006 March 07, 06:00:34
You can also set the price of objects from your cash register. Just click on it and the menu will appear.

As for the time to reach different badges, I am not sure. There is debate about which skills benefit certain tasks and apparently even the Prima Guide is vague.

And simlover, cute avatar. I'm assuming that you're an Ausssie??
39  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Object Crafting: Do we really have the time? on: 2006 March 07, 03:51:20
There's no question that salesmen / cashiers / restockers generate more cash per hour than crafters, but do you get so many customers at level 10 that you can keep 7 employees and your own sim constantly busy?
 - Gus

You can't. I have two businesses at level 10 and still my sim with one other can happily run the store. Thats not including the sale of any craft items however.

Glad someone mentioned this. In my first ever shop in downtown I got the reviewer twice. First time good, second time bad. Next, I open a shop which I build myself in Pleasantview and no reviewer until star 10! A guy comes in writing on his clipboard and I dazzle him etc etc. He leaves happy but no report! Frustrating.

I will try again with my real estate business in Blue Water.
41  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Object Crafting: Do we really have the time? on: 2006 March 07, 01:54:20
I agree. I find crafting time consuming and boring to watch your sim do. I alsways hire someone to craft things in the back of my shop. Thats as far as I go with it. Why have a dog and bark yourself is my philosophy.
42  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Community lot business skilling on: 2006 March 07, 01:51:55
Yes, Gali is saying that you can.

Your business on a COMMUNITY lot is considered part of your home even though it ain't. So all the home rules basically apply, excepting for sleeping as I understand it.

Gynarchy, that is really weird. Creepy almost. I can't think of any other suggestions except to kill this sim. I will be very curious to see if it continues after a cowplant feeding.
44  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Post problems you've noticed, on: 2006 March 07, 00:10:32
I've not had trouble asking sims to leave the lot. I've always had the "say goodbye to", or "ask to leave" options for customers.

Me too. I have noticed that just 'talking sales' with a customer is not a social interaction, hence you can't say goodbye to them. Its like they are in "buy mode". But after a sale is made at the register you can tell them goodbye or after talking to them if the option hasn't come up for a particular sim then the option to say goodbye should appear.

This is just my observation so far.

46  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Why do customers complain? on: 2006 March 06, 04:42:28
I'm 'guideless' but I'll try.

I assumed that the employees face with the X through it just generally meant they they were pissed that nobody helped them. But, of course, they get pissed if you do help them. I just let them go and accept them as is. If you have the right reward level, you can assess the customers mood. Quite often, this type of customer is in a bad mood in which I case, I just delete them with "moveobjects on".

I have tried talking to them, cheering them up some but it doesn't always work. I have offered to buy them coffee but just get slapped in the face so then I delete them. Screw em' is my approach.

Cheers Sandilou. I avoid the BBS like a plague so I would never had known this!

Gus, dude, thats an intense, angry post.
49  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: What's your second and third impression of OFB? on: 2006 March 06, 03:58:51
I'm still learning about real estate but apprently you need to buy as many business as you can then take the deeds out of your inventory and sell them like a normal item I guess. The tip I got was to NOT sell them to your playable sims.

Marie, my tycoon, has about $350,000 simoleons so that should be enough to do it.

I might add too that the design of the real estate office is really nice. I like it heaps. Big change from normal maxis refab stuff. Tasteful colours IMO.

OMG!  I just realized reading through these posts that I got so caught up in building up the capital, building my robot store, etc that I forgot you can't take a car to your community lot!  I had my sim hubby start Wieberbots Robot Store.  Sent him there with Merola's painting to craft bots all night.  I saved there and quit.  Will he be gone in the morning when I restart the game?Huh

C

Whats this about cars and community lots?? Bugger me, thats pretty crappy then. I guess its always worked in NL cause you always had to drive home before exiting the neighbourhood/game. So if I get a taxi to my business, then I'm ok?
