Well, here's one of the logs... not quite sure how to read it to find out what's wrong. If anyone can give me a hand, I'd appreciate it.

Tell me about it. Even if the error popup would give me a clue, that'd be a big help. Angry

Ummmm which video card do you have? Which drivers did you put in? Not all work with Sims 2. Even ATI has it glitches with Seasons if I read the read me correctly.

An ATI Diamond Viper Radeon x1600 Pro with the latest drivers. I don't have quite enough RAM to make Sims 2 perfectly happy, but 512 is okay as long as my lots aren't too big and I don't cram them too full of pointless crap.

are you trying to run the game with your fire wall on? sometimes that will cause a problem. I have all EP's and seasons installed and I am not having an issue.also did you shut down unneccesary background tasks. The Sims 2 and Ep's including Seasons use a lot of resources while running. to shut down background tasks ctrl+alt+delete to bring up the task manager window. click user name and it will list all tasks running in the background. under "owner " shut down all task's except for taskmgr.exe and explorer.exe. when the warning bar pops up click ok.each time. this will free up the resources needed to run the game. the game manual that came with seasons gives a few helpful hints for running the game and it's running requirements.

I'm doing everything exactly the same as I have been while playing the game for the last six months or so. But just for the sake of argument, I tried it anyway: no change. I even updated my video drivers. No change. Well, after wrestling with the goddamn things for three hours because my computer didn't want to recognize them. Roll Eyes I updated DirectX, too. I've got plenty of resources, and everything was working fine up until Seasons. I think if it was a resource problem it would actually say something to that effect on the error message instead of giving me a blank one, and would make at least an attempt at loading the game itself.
30 TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Yet Another (More Different!!) Crashing Seasons Problem. on: 2007 March 04, 15:55:34
Yeah, installed Seasons just fine... worked great. Go to open the game, the opening movie shows up, plays through, and when it ends and the load screen pops up I get a blank error message with 'okay' to click. I click, it crashes to desktop. I try again, in both windowed and fullscreen. I uninstall my entire game and all the packs, reinstall just the base game and Seasons. Same thing happens.

Anybody got a clue? This doesn't sound like a driver issue... nothing's loading enough for the drivers to get put to work yet.

I'm pretty sure this is an artifact of corrupted SWAFs

How do I go about de-corruptificating SWAFs?
32 TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: ... I should probably try to fix this, but it's actually pretty damn funny. on: 2006 November 18, 23:19:58
Nah, that's just a generic 'woohoo in bed' want. I'm going to be having him cheat on his lady-friend soon. She's a Fortune Sim, he's a Romance Sim... it can only end in tears. Or cow plants.

Huh. I'm getting an "INF Error: Video driver not found" popup.
35 TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Grah. Drivers. on: 2006 November 17, 02:57:42
Although if the ones it shipped with work, you may want to hold off. Brand new ones usually come out on the 20th of the month.

That would be great... if I could get DirectX to work at *all* without them. X-P Thus the desperate hunt. :-) No DirectX compatibility=no Simsage.
36 TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Grah. Drivers. on: 2006 November 17, 02:26:59
I recently upgraded my computer... and I mean recently as in "I've only gotten it to work in the last 24 hours or so"... and I can't find any drivers for the Diamond Viper x1600 Pro.

I've checked driverguide.com and the company website. Anybody else got any ideas?
37 TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: My glitch, SimPE glitch, or game glitch? Default skins acting wonky. on: 2006 June 12, 04:37:48
As far as I know, you must keep the original skintone in your Downloads, as well as the one generated by SimPE. If you just keep the file generated by SimPE, you get the two-toned glitch. Of course, I've never used that particular option in SimPE, so this is all hearsay.

Yeah, I read up on it and kept all the sets. Though, the thought just occurred to me... I have a seperate folder for skins (default and not)... I wonder if that might be causing the problem....

the only time i had this promblem . was when i had more than one default set in my downloads , it looked as if the head was using one set . and the body anther

Nah, I keep my skin files nicely segregated, and the only new defaults I have are these, an alien, and a vampire. I'm pretty careful about that sort of thing.
38 TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / My glitch, SimPE glitch, or game glitch? Default skins acting wonky. on: 2006 June 09, 19:33:10
I used SimPE in the approved manor with that little engine that makes default skins out of customs for you. Now I'm getting two-tone Sims with neck-lines and invisible lower halves (which is actually kind of amusing when a Sim that's glitching is streaking). Sometimes the skins will behave as they should, other times they won't, and I can't seem to figure out a rhyme or reason to why they decide to act as they do. Is there anything I can check to see what part's screwing up?

(In other words... HELLLLLLLLLLP! Grin)

Is a mini-image different from an .mdf file? Cause I had DTools 3-something and the .mds and .mdf file, *and* the hider, and it still wouldn't work.
40 TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Wooohoooo! *boogies* on: 2006 April 12, 17:01:17
I found out what was causing my stuck grade-bar issue! It was the damn no-cd patch for OFB! As soon as I got rid of that, everything went back to normal!

Now I just have to find a no-cd patch for OFB that *works*.
41 TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: *sigh* Yet another stuck grade bar issue in Uni. on: 2006 March 29, 16:00:13
Hmm, strange. I have testingCheatsEnabled in my startup.cheat file so I can drag away all I like. Maybe it works only if activated on neighborhood view? I mean, activate on neighborhood view, then enter the lot. If all else fails, try randomizing his skills with the college adjuster until the offending skill(s) are below grade requirement, then try and gain the skill manually. If this works, get his skills back up where they were again (I use Merola's multi-painting for this, but I think it can be done with the college adjuster too).

Tried all of the above. :-) I've actually played it for a while now, and it turns out he *is* getting the grades, they're just not showing up. So it seems, at least. He's still gotten B's a couple of times when I *know* he did everything needed for an A+, though.
42 TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: *sigh* Yet another stuck grade bar issue in Uni. on: 2006 March 29, 03:27:25
It never did resolve itself. His bar stayed stuck every single semester. Made me nervous that he would have problems graduating and moving back to the regular neighborhood but there were no problems with that. He and Klara are just fine in the regular neighborhood raising their twin daughters. It did happen one other time back in early October to a Uni townie who moved into one of the sororities but I ended up having to reinstall for other reasons so I never was able to see if I could fix it. It hasn't happened to another sim yet (knocks on wood) but I guess if it does I'll have to live with the guessing again. Though with TwoJeffs college adjuster it's easy to click "set semester grade...A" then "set final exam...2 hours" and the sim will come back from the final with the A and the grant money. I sure wish I knew what causes the glitch though. I hope it's not a sign of an impending EFBVFOS. Shocked

*sigh* You ain't the only one. I've got a horrible suspicion that this is gonna last until my next full reinstall, since I even *created an entirely new neighborhood and sims* to check it out, and it still happened with the new guy. So... yeah. Grr.
43 TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: *sigh* Yet another stuck grade bar issue in Uni. on: 2006 March 29, 00:58:43
I had the stuck grade bar thing with a created student when I moved him and Klara Vonderstein in together. Moving him out and back in didn't do a thing. What was strange was that if I had him do a couple of assignments, his term paper, attend a couple of classes (then move up his final with TJ's college adjuster) he'd come back from the final with a good grade. I was even able to graduate him and move him back to my regular neighborhood without a problem. It was just kind of annoying to have to "guesstimate" where I thought his score was really at before sending him to the final. I'd use TJ's college adjuster to give him the semester grade of an A just to make sure.

Yeah, that's what I'll probably end up doing. Did it ever resolve itself, or are you still stuck guessing where your Sims are at?
44 TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: *sigh* Yet another stuck grade bar issue in Uni. on: 2006 March 29, 00:57:38
No I mean if you turn it on while you are on the lot the bars don't drag up until you leave to go to another lot or reenter the lot (at least since OFB)

Like I said, I tried it. It still didn't work.
45 TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: *sigh* Yet another stuck grade bar issue in Uni. on: 2006 March 29, 00:50:15
Try exiting the lot after using boolprop testingcheats and then reenter then try dragging the bars up.

Yeah, I mentioned trying that in the original post... Either I wasn't doing it right, or it just wasn't working. *shrug* I tried click-drag, ctrl-click-drag, and shift-click-drag. Nada.
46 TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: *sigh* Yet another stuck grade bar issue in Uni. on: 2006 March 28, 23:38:53

Toss them on a newly placed lot (empty - not previously in the hood) and see if that helps. I remember reading someone having a problem like yours and it went away as soon as they moved them onto a uni lot that WASN'T built by Maxis.
[/quote]

*tries it*

Nope. Still stuck the exact same way.
47 TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / *sigh* Yet another stuck grade bar issue in Uni. on: 2006 March 28, 23:27:25
Okay, I have a second-generation Sim that shuffled off to Uni. I merged his household with that cute half-alien chick and moved them into a dorm, where all the trouble started.

My little Sim-Guy has eight points in everything, and is stuck down at the lowest grade-level bubble. Likewise my little alien cutie. I took all my hacks out. He got the full bar, but she stayed stuck. I tried moving them out and back in elsewhere. They were both stuck. I've tried the college adjuster, and it did nothing. I've patched, uninstalled, reinstalled, boolprop force-errored, reloaded and they're *still* stuck. All the lots I've been loading them in have been Maxis-standard lots.

I've even tried boolprop-dragging the grade levels, and I don't know if I'm doing it wrong or what, but they wouldn't drag. These stuck grade bars are really really stuck.

This seems to be a pattern with me. Either everything works smoothly the first time and I never see an problem... or there are HORRIBLE EARTH SHATTERING ISSUES that can't be fixed with a wrench and a blowtorch.

I've done everything I could think of, and a few things I didn't figure would help just because they were *possible*. Nothin'.

Anybody got any ideas?
48 TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: "That doesn't seem physically possible!" on: 2006 March 26, 23:49:30
I'm almost positive the swingers global hack doesn't do the same things as the bed... she mentioned when she posted the bed that she wasn't planning on making a global mod for it, because she was worried about conflicts with other mods. I just really like my Sims woohooing without my intervention. :-) Plus, in a house with several unrelated people, it can definitely cause some interesting interpersonal dynamics.
49 TS2: Burnination / The Podium / "That doesn't seem physically possible!" on: 2006 March 26, 23:39:07
So I've got that absolutely wonderful Autonomous Bed (LizLove's, I believe) that I downloaded from MTS2. And I *know* I'm being picky and unreasonable and all that... but as pretty as that bed is I get sick of using the same one all the time. Is there any way to take the programming attached to the bed and make it a global?

I am a modding neophyte. I can barely handle DatGen's hair-binning... so putting it in the simplest terms possible would be greatly appreciated. Huh
50 TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Getting really sick of typing in the CD key... on: 2006 March 17, 00:18:59
Not an issue. Undecided On advice of the techsupport guy, I tried installing it to my laptop, just to see if it'd work. It won't *run* it, mind, but the install went through... I'll be looking into repairing my Windows installation, or just backing up everything I need to keep and wiping C: to start over.
