201  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Ambitions: What's borked on: 2010 July 04, 06:55:06
What Madame Mim said.

This is the Ultimate Career Bundle.

See also here or here for the Sims3pack.

It's basically EA's reward for buying and registering Ambitions. Among the items included in the pack are two additional sculptable items and two additional inventable items.

Ambitions itself contained references to it that checked for registration. Pescado yanked those checks out of Awesomemod several versions back. It's possible in doing so it inadvertently opened up the possibility of creating those items even if you don't have the required resources.
202  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Factory / Re: The TS3 Store: post your questions, updates, and tech help here on: 2010 July 03, 06:52:37
I used the very latest s3rc/decrapify.exe and the file is still wonky. It installs fine and you'll see it in your launcher, it just won't appear in-game. Decrapifying the single object itself and trying to install it won't do anything since it's already installed, and using it as a decrapified .package won't either because the resource will still be broken. At least it's an easy thing to fix until Pescado has time to look at the decrapifier.

Come to think, weren't there some other fences people mentioned as missing? I fixed them all a while ago myself but figured the decrapifier was working fine for them by now. If they're still broken I can make some more packages.

Like this reply from page 39?

I have a question regarding the fences from the sims store. I have all of the available store items (and other official stuff) and when I decrapify and install them via the launcher, all of them show up in my game without problems. The only exception are some of the fences. Notably, they all belong to either the Hewnsman or the Ultra Lounge set. However, I don`t believe that the correponding .sims3pack files I use are corrupted. I downloaded and tested them from different sources. Additionally, when I install the unmodified files using base game/WA version 1.7/2.2, and copy the .dbc files into the mod folder of my currrent game (1.12/2.7/3.3/4.0) all the fences do show up. Am I the only one experiencing this, or is this a flaw with the current compressor/decrapifyer version (similar like the old issues with the fireplaces or ultra lounge counter, which were fixed)?

No one replied and I haven't checked myself so I'm not sure, but seems possible the decrapified Hewnsman and Ultra Lounge fences are also not showing properly.
203  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Ambitions and AwesomeMod. on: 2010 July 02, 23:11:09
So you just copy the framework DLL to the new expansion's directory? Ah okay. That makes sense. I must admit I completely skipped over the WA/HELS periods so while I did finally grab them when I got Ambitions, this is my first real experience dealing with expansions.

I know it's confusing for the noobs to move the stuff, but since this is supposed to be the officially official EA sanctioned way to do it it should be the last time they ever have to mess with anything to do with mod setup.

In theory. Of course they will find a way to mess things up.  Roll Eyes

And yes, they do need to go over to mod the sims and harass them and not us with their inane posts.

I suppose I will take the approach now that if it works for you, leave it, and if not, go ask somewhere else!
204  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Ambitions and AwesomeMod. on: 2010 July 02, 22:25:04
I have been running all my mods under my documents since Ambitions came out with no problems. It removes the need to have to shove everything over to a new directory every time an expansion or stuff pack comes around. Additionally it removes the need to have that extra framework dll file.

Even if the old way still works now I don't trust EA to not screw up it at some point in the future.

*shrug* I guess either works but seems less hassle to have everything in one consistent place.

I would also think the new method is more noob friendly because you only have to set it up once and you don't have to worry about the framework but judging from all the HAAALLLLPPPPP1111111 posts around here lately apparently that is not the case.  Tongue
205  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Awesomod discussion/questions/helpful tips thread on: 2010 July 02, 18:19:05
gryzon you aren't getting it and reinstalling will not help. Let's look at your reply again:

I have basic Sims 3 ver.1.6.6.... without any additives.

Then Funkilla's:

You need base TS3 1.12 for the public release, and 1.11 to use old AM as indicated in the download thread.

He is not telling you to use an old version, he is saying as it says clearly in the thread where you download awesomemod you must have the base game 1.12 to use the latest awesomemod. If you want to use the old version of awesomemod you need 1.11.

You have 1.6. It is YOU that have an old version of the game.

You need to patch your game or you can't use awesomemod. It's as simple as that.

Also, if you do patch to 1.12 then you need to read up on the new procedure for installing mods. They get placed in a different directory as of base game version 1.12.

207  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Ambitions and AwesomeMod. on: 2010 July 02, 17:59:05
Once Ambitions (or the latest patch for those who don't have Ambitions) is installed there is a new process for mods being installed in a different directory. This goes for all mods including awesomemod. The framework is no longer needed.

I suggest your research that process, setup your directory correctly or find a tool to do it and then try again.
208  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Factory / Re: The TS3 Store: post your questions, updates, and tech help here on: 2010 July 02, 17:55:52
Does anyone have the July store items in Sim3pack format (apart from the wedding stuff)?

Zen Again and Adrenaline Rush have both been posted recently in original untouched form. In fact one is on this very page and the other is on the page prior. Try looking before posting next time.

Does anyone have separate package. of

DrPeppers 10 new objects
Island Villa
It's Game Time!

I tried to make packages by my own but they dont work good Sad , im using Panama Crew's packages and they work just fine  Grin
THANK YOU

Panama Crew has the new Dr. Pepper stuff in package format in his pack he just posted and the others are in a previous pack of his. This isn't an à la carte restaurant. Just get the packs and take out what you need.
209  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Factory / Re: The TS3 Store: post your questions, updates, and tech help here on: 2010 July 01, 21:20:33
Stupido me. I just bought the Zen set, with my carefully guarded 100 initial sim points - and I don't have the friggin launcher on this laptop.

Well I'm sure you probably know you can extract it to package files but just in case there's either Delphy's Multi Pack Installer or Peter Jones' S3SU.

There's also couple of really moldy oldie ones too like JFades 3Viewer and Echo's Extractor, but they haven't been updated in ages and I haven't used them much so I can't really vouch for them. http://www.simprograms.com/the-sims-3-programs/programs-the-sims-3-package-editors/
210  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Awesomod discussion/questions/helpful tips thread on: 2010 July 01, 20:51:09
Awesomemod has been downloading for 24 minutes. It is only at 16%. The download speed is getting slower with each passing minute and the ETA just keeps on going up. This is less than a 5mb file...this is ridiculous. Is this happening to anyone else?

No, it's coded especially for you.

 Cheesy

As I am sure most people have noticed, the site has been slow at times lately (for which I smell some TSR shenanigans). I find that if a download from alpha is going slow then switching to beta usually helps or vice versa.

If that doesn't work you just have to deal and it will pass.

Or nuke TSR's headquarters.
211  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Ambitions Torrent on: 2010 July 01, 20:44:00
Okayyy, so im gonna apologize in advance for the questions im about to ask, but im super lost&a bit confused. So, can i get in trouble from EA or anything from downloading this? &what do you have to do after you download it? Like in an easily understandable way please!

Look, file sharing is not a new thing. It's not a complicated concept either.

If EA is charging to download the expansion from their site and some other site is providing a download of it for free common sense says that EA probably didn't give it to them and tell them to provide it to everyone free of charge. Do the math!

As for getting in trouble with EA? Will they send men in suits to your house to collect you in a black van with dark windows? Probably not. Do they collect 'usage data' by phoning home in the background when you run the game. Yes. Could some of this data potentially provide them indication that someone obtained the game/expansion by less than legitimate means? Possibly. Are there ways around sending usage data to EA? Yes.

You have to weigh the pros and cons for yourself and use some common sense. I'm not sure what you want people to tell you. If you should download it? That's up to you!

213  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Creepy Doll in ur files messin with ur Sims3Packs on: 2010 July 01, 15:50:10
Okay some things about the doll.

I don't believe it to be sabotage. I believe Inge posted some Ingelogical explanation of an incorrect reference or some such. Also Rebecah herself said it was a mistake. It was just half assery object creation.

As stated, TSR regularly deletes unflattering comments. Most likely someone did comment on it. In addition, the Exchange and Mod The Sims were deleting multiple threads where people were talking about it. Gee what happens when you censor people? I don't know, maybe you stir them up more? So at least some of the vitriol surrounding this doll is due to fans being flamed by overzealous moderation. In the case of the exchange they went rather schizo and after multiple thread deletions, one of the Sim Gurus then posted an official warning about it.  Roll Eyes

Simply not downloading from the Exchange or TSR or any one single site will not solve the issue nor will it prevent you from getting the doll. I downloaded items from several smaller sites that contained the doll. Because it embeds itself into uploads when the creator is unaware, it can potentially be in any sim3pack from any site. About the only ones you can consider safe are EA store items.

On the other hand, it's no big thing to just run the sims3pack files you download through Delphy's CUSTARD tool and take a peek at what's inside them. It takes less than a minute. I downloaded several lots from the Exchange last night. Only one had the doll and I was able to remove it in CUSTARD before I installed it. No harm done.

Regarding whether or not the doll actually does any damage and should be removed, some have claimed it caused corruption and/or crashing in their games. It's likely voodoo, however anyone has it should remove it anyhow. Even if someone doesn't intend to ever share any creations they may at some future date. It's best to just get rid of it. If you want the doll there's a fixed replacement at TSR. I would strongly suggest not keeping the broken one. The less people who have it the better.
214  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Factory / Re: The TS3 Store: post your questions, updates, and tech help here on: 2010 July 01, 13:01:36
This isn't completely related to the store but it's about the Dr. Pepper Items....

I'm wondering if anyone has any download links for the dr pepper items? In Particular the ponytail, red tracksuit, lips couch, beach chair, surfing suit, surf board and that yellow top.

I can't stand dr pepper but I like the items :p
SEARCH MOAR.

I have SEARCHED MOAR but I can't find all of them.

I've found some of them (lips couch, retro couch, yellow top)

but the adult female ponytail, surfboard and that surfing suit I still can't find. I looked in all the store update downloads

Uh, they are posted in the last three posts in the main Store downloads thread, so not exactly hidden. Also they are in MistyK's 4Shared directory as 'Dr. Pepper Beach Stuff'.

Note that the actual files are named somewhat differently than their names on the website, so Pepper's Pony Tail is the file afHairHatSTOREPonytailLong.Sims3Pack, etc.

In general the Store Downloads thread, is, as its name implies, just for store downloads. It is moderated to be free of extraneous posts and contains only downloads. For the most recently released store/bonus content, read the replies in reverse order and check the last page first.

The main page works for me, as does the booty but the forum seems to be having loading issues for me at the moment.

I didn't see a TSR redirect though.  Shocked
216  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Sims starving to death on: 2010 June 30, 18:18:44
Well I think the starvation from the cult-like mass swarm at City Hall and the starvation of random seems around the town are two different issues though.

For some reason, they get transfixed on that damned awards ceremony to the point where they won't do anything else, even eat or go to the bathroom.
217  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Sims starving to death on: 2010 June 30, 18:07:34
So then it looks this is an issue caused by Awesome Story Mode. The Twallan Story Mode (and I think EAxis?) have provisions to remove sims from town either by emigration or death should the neighborhood become too full to the point where it taxes the system too much.

I know the idea with population control in Awesome Story is that you do a bunch of manual fiddling and go in and delete a bunch of cribs from houses so they don't reproduce, but that still takes a long time to bring the population down. In the meantime, apparently, sims will starve under such conditions forcing a more immediate decrease in population. Tongue

You said this already. Multiple times. He already told you it works for him and if it doesn't for you you are doing something wrong. No one else is reporting this issue.

Figure it out. Move on. GTFO.
219  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Factory / Re: Pudding Factory is for downloads: put your lame requests & WCIFs here on: 2010 June 28, 20:44:41
Can someone make use any disk to play the game.  Im playing on Laptop and desktop  ofcourse I alway for get the disk.

Thank You!

Awesomemod has a feature built in to remove the CD check. If you don't want to use Awesomemod and just want the NoCD part Twallan has a small mod to do that:

http://www.4shared.com/get/169915565/9d23e1af/NRaas_NoCD.html

Also, if you search around (on the net; not here) you can find NoCD cracks without much trouble, however those will require replacing files that future patches/expansions will need. It's easier to just take the Awesomemod/Twallan approach, then you don't have to worry about replacing any files in the future.
220  Awesomeware / Armoire of Invincibility / Re: decrapify using a Mac? on: 2010 June 28, 00:57:44
I'm kinda sad that I'm using this as my first post... but I still haven't been able to find a way to decrapify using a Mac. Promise I've searched, whether that's believable or not. Am I retarded or is there really no way to do it without pulling my dusty old PC out of the closet?

A quick 2 second search of the words "DOS" and "Mac" on Google shows that there are indeed DOS emulators for Mac.

Presumably you could use one of these. I admit to knowing next to nothing about Macs, however I've used DOS emulators before to play old games and it's not rocket science.
221  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Factory / Re: Pudding Factory is for downloads: put your lame requests & WCIFs here on: 2010 June 27, 16:54:29
I've been getting the "invalid file found" response whenever I attempt to update the "World Adventures" expansion. The patch log indicates it is this file:

C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3 World Adventures\Game\Bin\Sims3EP01GDF.dll

Can someone please upload this file from the original, pre-patch 2.0.86.002001 version of World Adventures?

http://www.4shared.com/file/bKsEruV_/Sims3EP01GDF.html

This is the Sims3Ep01GDF.dll from 2.0.86.002002, which is the international version of the original release of WA (2.0.86.002001 is US). As far as I know though, the dlls are not changed between the different language releases.
222  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Create a Pattern Tool annoyances on: 2010 June 27, 02:02:15
I went into photoshop and cut one of my images into several layers, leaving the background blank for transparency. Then I realized that the Create-A-Pattern tool doesn't allow any images to be used other than .jpeg or .bmp which meant that I couldn't use the transparency features that .gif or .png allows which meant that the tool wasn't as nice as I thought it'd be.

You definitely can import png files with transparency set on them in as stamps. I've done it with those girl shapes I used for the pattern in the image I posted above.
223  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Create a Pattern Tool annoyances on: 2010 June 26, 15:05:45
Has anyone else messed around with the Create a Pattern tool? While I'm glad we finally have an official tool from EA for creating patterns I have some serious gripes about it:

1) You can't change the background color of your pattern in CAST in the game at all. You get 4 other layers for overlays that you can all change separately in CAST but the most important thing, the background layer, you just have to pick one color and are stuck with. If you want the same design on differing background colors you have to make a separate pattern for each background color.

This severely limits the usefulness of this tool and will lead to useless file clutter where people create 8 different versions of their patterns just as there were multiple versions of every damned texture under the sun in multiple colors in TS2. I thought the whole point of the CAST in TS3 was to get away from this?

2) The image compression it uses is lossy. Really lossy. Like artifacts on a solid color lossy. The amount of artifacting you get varies from pattern to pattern but some of them look really bad in the game.

This pattern I made has artifacts on the solid color purple background I gave it in the tool. Those artifacts aren't from the jpeg, they appear that way in the game. It didn't appear that way when I was creating the pattern in the tool so somewhere along the way the image got compressed all to hell and now looks like shit. Actually, I don't think the still picture does it justice. It looks worse when you see those artifacts plastered all over a wall in the game.

3) You have to install them with the launcher. If you extract the sims3pack files the Create a Pattern Tool makes to package they get seriously borked and don't work right in the game. I made 4 patterns that I all extracted to package and put them in one of my mods folders. 3 of the 4 didn't show up and one showed up 3 times with 3 different backgrounds, two of which were not the background color I set. Don't know what that was all about but I deleted the packages and installed the sims3packs via the launcher and they worked just fine after that.
224  Awesomeware / Armoire of Invincibility / Re: TOOL: TS3 Recompressor on: 2010 June 26, 13:02:26
It's kind of slow and a pain in the ass to use the launcher but if you do it in one chunk and just get it over with it's not so bad. I'm sure this helps somewhat by taking extra crap out of the file but the launcher is still the launcher and it's still slow.

As an aside, I've seen a number of people whining lately that they are on a Mac and don't have access to this program, but there must be a DOS emulator for Mac. DOS is an old, text based operating. It doesn't exactly require a high end computer to be able to emulate it.
225  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Creepy Doll in ur files messin with ur Sims3Packs on: 2010 June 25, 00:20:16
I downloaded 1 lot from TSR no others and I'm so fed up of the damn doll, my fault I suppose for using TSR but the doll is not mentioned at all in the downloads folder.  So the only way is to check the dbc files then, as I not that computer savvy I don't want to mess around with them I think I'm just going to have to do it my way.  So I don't have any lots from MTS and just the one from tsr which I deleted do I only need to check all of my downloads or just tsr ?

Creepy doll has left the building, stupidly did'nt check the installed content until I was told so thank you. My stupidity and I will go back to lurking for now.

As I stated twice already, uninstalling the doll from the launcher removes it from the dbc file. You don't have to be computer savvy, just open the launcher, scroll through a long assed list until you get to the doll and then remove it via the launcher.

As also has been noted repeatedly, you need to find the package file of it (0x038a68fe04da61a6aa65f939d77fbc37.package) and also remove that from the DCBackup.

To be on the safe side it's probably a good idea to search the My Documents/Electronic Arts/ directory including all subdirectories for "0x038a68fe04da61a6aa65f939d77fbc37.package" and "doll" and make sure there's not another instance of it hiding somewhere.

Also be aware that it is not just TSR files that can contain that doll and potentially it can be in any sims3pack file from any site. The doll embeds itself in files that people create and upload. It's likely there are people who have it and don't even know, passing it along in their uploads without realizing it.

A safe proceedure to do prior to installing sims3pack files is to open them in Delphy's Custard Tool and scan the contents inside the file being on the lookout for the doll. It will be 0x038a68fe04da61a6aa65f939d77fbc37.package and also bring up a little icon of the doll in CUSTARD when you highlight it.

CUSTARD is a fairly user friendly tool so again you don't need to be computer savvy to use it. If the sims3pack just contains the actual content, thumbnails (they are safe) and the doll you can safely remove the doll. However if it contains the doll and a whole bunch of other crap I wouldn't recommend installing it. It's good practice to verify your files are clean prior to uploading and for lot creators to not include any custom content they used on the lot but instead reference those items with credits and links.
