How many of you remove all your hacks when patching? I normally only do this with an EP. Serves no purpose to specifically remove them just to patch: Hacks are files that never existed, and are installed into a directory that never existed in the first place, making it impossible for the patch program to be aware of their existence. Yeah sorry, I was referring to potentially unwanted weirdness occuring if playing with the pre-patch mods still in there? Worth removing them for this patch?

So thats the official answer... The fact that they have left it two months to comment on a gamebreaking bug/feature makes it smell like damage limitation. If they couldn't even find out that a crucial game setting was non-existant before launch, let alone patch the problem on launch day, then what faith are we supposed to have in these answers? Population balance? Simply put in a neighbourhood population cap then. You're game designers. People spend hours making sims in CAS, and then they disappear? And thats supposed to be part of the game??I actually had hopes of creating a thriving town. Doesn't sound safe to even go above 50 sims at the moment, and that is a sorry reflection on the way the game was designed, and for whats supposed to be a groundbreaking simulation.

Just for information, tizerist, I dropped your save into my game and managed to play it in several different families and save nine times with no error. I've been playing vanilla (except for some store stuff) and have yet to encounter the error 12 in my game at all.
Same here. I can't reproduce it today, which is a good thing I guess

Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Using Aging Off/Story Mode Off - game takes 18 minutes to save
|

I've had three crashes while saving today. Had to go back to the .backup every time. My save times are not particularly bad, about two minutes.
Aging off. Story off. Save is 62.1 mb.
Good idea to create a series of saves, such as "save 1", "save 2", "save 3", and use them over and over. That way you should never need to use the .backup, as you are never overwriting the current save. I do this in every game I play. One save file is asking for trouble. I have a slightly different foldering method, which involves weekly and daily folders, so I'll never lose more than a day whatever happens. Found a savegame from May yesterday! Loaded it up, how naive I was....not even rotating driveways onto roads. Tch tch.

As I said in the other thread, my sim kept appearing round the back of the bistro rather than working. This happened right after I got promoted to Vegetable Slicer without a text balloon. I transferred his career to the Burger Bar, and he attended work there. At career level 8, I had him transfer back to the Bistro, same problem.
The new Awesome contained a work related fix. I don't know if its the same one.

Well I didn't know about it. Thanks Actually a thread dedicated to those 'hidden commands' and such would be good. The inventory > fridge thing had me stumped for a while and has cost me about half an hour of my life.

Yeah I do. It's one of those 'lucky' problems though isn't it, where its going to look good regardless. I can't replace anything in my hood now. Everything looks good, and different areas have their own little flavour.
I know which buildings are going to be shops, nightclubs and hotels already. I just have to do a shedload of interior decorating before that christmas EP now, and the ball will start rolling.

You no longer need to equip the house with a full skillinatorium and whatnot, as the "open neighborhood" means that these can be located on community lots. In fact, the game will punish you for building in this way. It's not TS2 anymore.
How does it punish you?

Thanks, I think this is a good mod, but there's a balance to be struck here. Could it possibly be based on friendship? I mean, theres a big difference between a friend repairing your TV, and a work aquaintance deciding that they're gonna help themselves to your sushi. I think somewhere inbetween this and the EA default would be correct, but how far inbetween I'm not sure.

If you got *bleep* over by Reloaded like I did, you need to download a patch that will replace the FullBuild0.package file. The correct file size should be 1,023,864,748 bytes. If you don't know how to get it, you do not deserve to play this game.
Okay, google found nothing on this other patch. I could aquire it from downloading the 5gb razor version I suppose, but other than that, where is it please? If you mean the reloaded > razor update, I done that a while back. EDIT: I just re-did the HelpPages thing, and it appears to have worked. The download had 2 HelpPages from the same country, only one worked.
