Are there any reasons to delete them?
No no. Just wondering if others had been deleting theirs, with it being a static figure and all. But as I checked back into the folder the figure appears not to be static after all. Its now 512,743 (objects) and 509,981 (sims) which is about 1 mb more than before. So it will fluctuate (eventually?) but not much.

My new SV cache files seem to have hit a ceiling of 511,946 kb (objects) and 510,130 (sims). It doesn't fluctuate any more, since about a day ago I think, and I had my first error 12 today in the newer hood, with about 30% of the lots still to go in there, and about 60% of the population still to go back in.

Tizerist, do you get a Sims cache file?
Yep, as soon as I removed the 979mb file, the two Sunset Valley files appeared, and have been getting larger. I am in the middle of moving the sims and lots in my SV to a completely fresh hood. Only 3 lots from 93 remained in that hood, and 0 sims, so quite an overhaul. I'm hoping that the fresh hood, without the 'history' of the EAxis sims and lots will be more stable when the mass imigration is complete. But I must do it slowly, so that I know at which point the errors come back up, if in fact they do.

I have not to date had an error 12 or error 13 in my game. My version of Sunset Valley varies very little from the original; I have left all of the community lots and most of the residential lots as they were
You could be onto something there. just a thought then, if a player bulldozes their town bit by bit, the replacement buildings will mean that the game has to cache the new information for Sunset Valley, but if the cache file is always 979mb, then it could just be a dead - or unreachable - file. The cache information fails to, well, cache and problems are perhaps arising from this. Does anyone get 12's or 13's in Riverview by the way?

Just retested and must admit that error 12 and 13 has some relations also graphics and the number of objects in the game world.
I also suspected this, and still partly do. My very first error 12 came from changing graphics settings and then trying to save. The game tells you not to do that, so I wasn't surprised by that one. The first month or so was error 12 free, then its just been a gradual drip, then a stream of errors. There was one occasion, however, when an semi-empty town also threw an error 12. But on this occasion I merely loaded the empty town from Main Menu after a 12, and did not boot up again from fresh. Can anyone else confirm this? That going from a troublesome error 12 town, to the main menu, then loading a good town still causes the error in the good town? And on a side-note, what a friggin liberty EA know enough about these problems to actually give them numbers, so why can't they at least tell us not what to do?Come on EA, out with it: what's the difference between a 12 and a 13 then? Hmmm? And where are these details in the readme too? They have DETAILS and they're just sitting on them.....WTF?? Anyhow, I may even try moving all my lots from my SV into a new, ultra clean SV. Perhaps those 3 and a half months of straight play has just built up too much memory cloggage. It happened in TS2 with the memories, and we all know what deleting sims from the simbin used to do in TS2. Something so casual that probably three quarters of us did it without giving it a second thought. Darn. Is there an easier way to get around 90 lots into a fresh town without sending them all to lot bin one by one?

Well after getting about one error (any type of error - 12's, CTD etc) roughly every hour, I've decided to move my self-sim to a relatively CC-free Riverview whille my Sunset Valley is on hold until I know how much I can eradicate - or lessen - the problem.
In this Riverview, all that remains are my hacks, skins for sims, and store sets. Anything potentially crashy has been removed to desktop for now. I appeared to have a couple of crash-free hours finally, but its worth noting that my RV is much smaller than my SV (about 40% size wise) so I can't make a direct comparison.
I am hoping that it will be down to hair or clothes more than a certain decorative mesh, as they are much easier to slot back in without all my decorating having gone to hell. Anyway, it will take a couple of days before I will be able to see any sort of pattern, so I will have to report back then.

I used to have black screen syndrome in CAS. I updated my graphics card drivers (so well hidden too!!) and patched the game and it has stopped. I used to have to make a new sim really quickly, select them in play, and then 'editsim' to flesh out the sim. It never happened in editsim. It would always say nkvkdm* has stopped responding, and it is Vista
*or something like that, nvkmddv, or maybe mkvm, no. nkmv..v.. (fade out here)
