126  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: The cheesecake thing on: 2006 March 14, 03:09:41
Thanks for sharing that FC. Certainly looks interesting. I wonder what more testing would show. I know absolutely nothing about code but it's beginning to look as though there's more to this than meets the eye. Really odd.

I swear to Christ I could STRANGLE Maxis for putting this 'feature' in! It took MONTHS for all the twins rumors and inane gibber jabber about it all over every god damned sims board to die down and they just went and stirred the shit up all over again.  Angry

You and me both Motoki. I'm beginning to think this is Maxis' sick idea of a joke or revenge and they're having a major laugh at our expense. Perhaps the "forcetwins" cheat was a good idea to shut down all the stupid fake twin cheat threads but the food thing is a major train wreck.

Would any self-pollinated sim (like Brandi) birth a single child of the opposite gender? Now you've got me curious and my Brandi had her son ages ago.
128  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Complaining on a date? on: 2006 March 13, 23:44:35
I closed Jodie & Jason Larson's home florist shop for a sim day so Jodie could marry downtownie Craig Custer. A few of their guests were some of their loyal customers. I was less than pleased when most of the guests left after Jodie & Craig took off in the limo but Checo Ramirez stuck around. He complained to Jason about something, Jason "reassured" him and they gained relationship points. I then had Jason tell Checo goodbye. But if sims who have home businesses get complained at by their visitors when they take a day off I'm going to get quickly annoyed with this ep.

So far Sussi's "Old Fashioned" (the Scarlet O'hara look) and "Gibson Girl" haven't been updated to be correctly binned. Sad I hope they will be updated soon.
130  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: What's your first impression of OFB? on: 2006 March 12, 01:57:48
You could make the Loch Ness monster in the TS1 neighborhood appear by bringing up the cheat box and typing in nessie. I wonder if there's something we can do to make the pig balloon appear.
131  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Guess who. on: 2006 March 12, 01:55:35
I hope you'll share with us where you found the sari Kendal is wearing. It's quite beautiful. Smiley
132  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Guess who. on: 2006 March 12, 01:28:46
Karen Gast? I have a hard time remembering the names of the nannies.
133  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Custom paintings and moving / inventory on: 2006 March 12, 00:57:21
I had four custom paintings of Sims who had died on the lot. Placed the paintings in inventory, moved to a new lot, and they turned into the default yellow & orange sunset painting.  Embarrassed

Does this happen for all custom paintings? Is there any way to get the original paintings back?

This did happen to me back in November. The artist had actually moved out and died on a different lot but when I put the painting in the son's inventory and moved the family to a new house the custom painting of his dad turned into the "sunset painting." I was pretty cheesed off but like you I have no idea of how to get the original painting back.  Cry
134  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Guess who. on: 2006 March 11, 23:49:16
I'm guessing Cassandra, though she could be that sim with the hair and the shoes who lives over by the rock under the bridge. Just make sure you don't download the rock hack or she'll disappear.
135  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Want to buy that crafted item instead of making it? on: 2006 March 10, 17:18:18
The thing I like best about Sims is that it's so open ended. It can be played in a variety of ways to cover all sorts of interests; from those who like to build the homes, those who like making stories and those who like setting themselves certain goals and so on. There's virtually no wrong way to play, just a whole bunch of different ways to play.  Smiley
136  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Want to buy that crafted item instead of making it? on: 2006 March 10, 15:12:35
The one thing I'd like about this hack is that I could have buyable flower bouquets to place on the plots in my community cemeteries. Though I also wish TS2 would cycle through different types of tombstones like it did for TS1. More vairety would make the cemeteries look more realistic to me. For now I have a sim in each neighborhood area who "owns" the cemetery and places flowers on the graves from his or her inventory. I guess they're the friendly neighborhood mortician? Kind of morbid I suppose. But I like it because it adds a sense of realism to my neighborhoods.
137  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: "boolprop" Phobia on: 2006 March 08, 23:15:28
Yeah, you should. And then you could use all your "Nanny-Pictures". Oh, I fondly remember your very first Nanny avatar, way back when, but my favorite was the one with the nanny stomped into the ground. I laughed for days, and not even only when I saw it. Earned me some very suspicious looks, LOL.

TaWanda, I use it for name-changing too. I think I would cry if I had to have 'Goopy' or 4 Toshas, 3 Whatevers, and 5 Whatnots ever again. I have nothing especially against Goopy the townie, really. I usually just ignore the more stupid townies anyway, until my cowplant gets hungry that is, but I dislike the name for some reason.  *My apologies if there are any real Goopys out there,  it's just a personal taste matter Wink

Oh how I miss SimPe, then I can once again change the last names too, sigh.

By the way Cabelle, that's how I learned SimPe. I build a throw-away neighborhood and went to town (no pun intended...really). If I messed up really bad, I just came here. Posie has some good advice for SimPe challenged people too, by the way.
I have read and reread Posie's tutorials and all of the tutorials on the SimPE site and even saved them all to a doc file for constant reference. I'm working up the courage to follow Posie's step by step instructions to fixing Skip Broke's file so his DNA will be passed to his kids (I had Brandi resurrect him and he's happily married to a former Uni student). Sometimes in my case I wonder if I have "SimPE block" like I do with more difficult math. Tongue Probably in large part because I tend to be a perfectionist and get frustrated when I can't understand something the first time I read it.

Rather than boolprop I've been using Merola's mind control mirror and his multi painting to do some "improvements" on the townies. I get tired of the repeating names too, and the frightening looks they've been given. Makes me really glad for OFB, another way for us to improve the looks of those fugly folks. Grin

I do back up all the neighborhoods I care about weekly. Learned my lesson the hard way last May when Pleasantview went sideways on me. So I probably shouldn't be such a scaredy cat. I bet if I give myself some patience I'll be able to figure it out. And if I'm confused it's nice to know that I can ask you guys to help me do it right. Smiley

Short hair is lovely, versatile and, according to my boyfriend's Zombie Survival Guide, those of you with short hair will be safer than the rest of us.  You know, when the zombies come.

Ah, so I guess I'm zombie food. Wink My hair is a little more than halfway down my back. Though I usually wear it pulled back with a clip or in a bun.
139  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: "boolprop" Phobia on: 2006 March 08, 19:08:57
I am a Boolprop Phobic.  I am too lazy to work out how and when to use it - or even locate it.  That's why I visit here, so that those more awesome than me - and way more knowledgable than me - can keep me informed!  When Maxis revealed the Boolprop 'cheat' I can remember thinking...this sounds like "We can't work out how to fix this game so how about we give the consumer the tools and maybe they can solve it for us."    So on principle - at that time -  I didn't give it a second glance.  Also work and family commitments meant that I never had the time to even look at what it was supposed to do, as I barely had time to even play the game.  Since then, I've relied on others to do the thinking and programming for me.  It's much safer - because everyone knows that Boolprop breaks your game.  Cheesy

I am much the same, or at the very least a very cautious boolprop user. I read just about every thread you guys post and sometimes understand it but I don't feel knowledgeable enough to use it except under limited circumstances. I haven't even worked up the courage to do more with SimPE that some minor stuff in a throw-away neighborhood to teach myself how to use it. I don't want to do something stupid and screw up my game. I know it puts me in the position of being pointed and laughed at but I am just not smart when it comes to programming. At least I'm really good at other non-computer stuff though.
140  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Maxis does it again! on: 2006 March 08, 04:48:35
Textures are not maxis. Morague is going to make a little package file so that people with OFB can use the textures and mesh that come with the game.

Awesome! So nice of Morague to make those "hidden" hairstyles available for us. Like Beau's hair for example. I can't wait to download that OFB one, it's very pretty. Smiley
141  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Turn on/off potion since NL on: 2006 March 07, 23:36:21
Rats! There goes my plans for "Don's House of Flaming Poo" franchises. Tongue
142  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: What's your second and third impression of OFB? on: 2006 March 06, 16:56:59
I'm growing rather fond of Gilbert myself. I sold that silly bear statue. Gilbert's quite the handsome sim and a Romance sim too so he will be my "studsim" and help to populate Bluewater Village with his beautiful babies. Tongue He already has one daughter Fleur with his first wife Florence Delarosa, just had twins Gabrielle and Lance with second wife Nancy (previously a townie) and his dangerous liasons with former employee Christa could lead to another child and another divorce if Nancy finds out.

The Prima Guide write this:

(Cheat Section):

"Pregnant sims can have twins if they eat Cheesecake. Unlike the Forsetwins cheat, it isn't sure thing, but the probability significantly increases"

Does it help?

According to Pescado, this is a myth. He says there isn't anything in the code that gives special properties to cheesecake.  Sorry....

Karen

They're both right. There really code is in the game for cheescake to force twins (which I just found tonight), but it's broken due to a bug in the code and will never work. Also, it's coded to be a sure thing (if it worked).

The forcetwins cheat does work, and all it's doing is changing the number of babies and won't screw up your game.

@momtogirls - did you have the business open or closed at the time of birth? Did you try the opposite of the way it was?

Great.  Roll Eyes So Maxis finally makes a food for twins and the chance of it happening from it is broken? Great temples of Mike! Why am I not surprised? Is this broken code something you'd be able to (or even want to) fix? I have to wonder if this is Maxis' revenge for all of those stupid twins threads. They give us a food that doesn't even work properly!

I've used the "forcetwins" cheat and had no problem. The sim I used it on yesterday had her boy-girl twins this evening and everything's fine.
145  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: OFB prices on: 2006 March 05, 17:41:11
I didn't buy online because I found better prices at the stores. I bought mine from Target for $29.99 and received a $5 gift card but that sale ended yesterday. However my Walmart still has OFB for $29.87.
146  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Graphics improvement with OFB on: 2006 March 05, 17:35:37
Yeah same here with me and my 5600/256MB. I'm seeing texture detail that was lost before.

I've got that one also and was happily surprised by the improvements. Sometimes I'll scan over the lots just to ooh and aah over the fine details. "Look at that! I can see the texture on her jeans!" Tongue Silly I know but I like stuff like that.
147  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Anyone want a spare mascot download code? I got extras! on: 2006 March 04, 01:15:31
Yay Bluesoup! Grin Angelyne's right, you're the best!.

And thank you Simsbaby for the recolor. It's hilarious.

Anyone else catch the real 80s songs in Simlish? LOL I was looking at the songs and thinking 'I don't remember putting these mp3s in there.' and then I listened to them.  Grin

Ooh, that will make LK's day.
149  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: What's your first impression of OFB? on: 2006 March 02, 03:42:51
Folks over on the BBS are reporting that this is the "tip" they receive from EA for registering their game-

Looking to add some twins to your family? The medical powers of Cheesecake might
be for you. Have a slice before you 'Try for Baby' and you may be surprised with
the results!

Testing would definitely be in order.
150  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: What's your first impression of OFB? on: 2006 March 02, 03:21:48
Before? How strange. I wonder how long the sim will have to woohoo before the possible "cheesecake effect" could wear off.
