Try going to Tools > Folder Options > View > Uncheck the box next to "Hide protected operating system files", and check the box next to "Show hidden files or folders", then do another search for the file.
If this fails, create a new subfolder in the Downloads folder called CA183YZ9 and see if that fixes it.

TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: The Sims 2: Holiday Edition and Happy Holiday Stuff

The Holiday pack is the most confusing SP of them all, as there have been four versions of it released:
Holiday/Christmas Party Pack (2005), Holiday/Christmas Edition (2005), Happy Holiday Stuff/Festive HS (2006), Holiday Edition (2006)
The 2005 Holiday Edition includes the Holiday/Christmas Party Pack and the base game, while the 2006 Holiday Edition contains HHS/FHS and the base game. HHS/FHS has all the HPP/CPP content as well as some extra outfits, so if you have HPP/CPP than outfits meant to work with HHS/FHS may not work depending on which mesh they are based on.

Mine is in C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\The Sims 2 Seasons\TSData\Res\Overrides
It contains something I've never seen before:
HolidayNewYearsPartyPhoneCall_Override.package
EA borked all (or most, not sure) phone plugins in Pets, including their own "Throw Party...\New Year's Party" phone plugin, so they include that file to fix the problem in every version of the game post-Pets, regardless of if you have the Holiday Pack or not. Of course, the fix is also slightly broken (but only if your language is set to something other than En-US, due to what I assume to be MSWord checking of the pie-menu strings).

I have other mods that do little simple things that I want, such as refresh my employee's motives so that there's no need to take a break, and a sign that automatically calls in and sends home employees when I want them to, and so on. The only thing I want is to auto assign an employee a task when they arrive on the lot. I need to download all of this:
businessrunsyou.zip autosoc.zip autoyak.zip bathroomusesyou.zip macrotastics.zip skillinator.zip
Just to do that? I'm aware that sims are stupid...but is that all really necessary?
To put in context: it has probably taken you more time to whine about this than it would have taken to download the relevant hacks.

OK MissBree, let's go through all the errors in your post in detail. Dear Mens Mortuus,
I have read your post about how annoying you find the fact that flirting is regarded as having an affair when a sim is engaged or joined. I partially agree with you. Nevertheless there are ways to cope with it.
First of all, you could cause a rollover to your sim. This ways he would probably have amnesia when he recovers, so he would have forgotten that he had an affair, an that memory would accordingly be erased from his head. This has also some disadvantages, though. Your sim might even be killed. Moreover, you are able to cause a rollover only if you own E5, known as "nightlife", in order to buy your sim a car. I do not know if it's possible with a taxi-cab, but this would probably cause damage to the taxi-driver too, something that would be too bad, especially if the taxi-diver was cute or had children to raise. His children would need their father in order to grow up properly. What is more, if he has many children, his wife will probably not be able to raise them, so a social worker would take them away from her. This may also have some negative effects. The couple that will adopt them might be rude, mean, bad, evil, damnable, mischievous, ruthless, unsympathetic, bloody, hard, guilty, selfish, egoist, egocentric, egomaniac, egotist, narcissist, brash, violent, or generally unable to raise the taxi-driver's children properly. On the other hand, the couple could be nice, polite, good, kind, pleasant, gentle, superlative and perfect parents, be I advise you not to risk. The taxi-driver's children' future is very important. Sims can not be run over by any vehicle. Nightlife is EP3. If you can get the taxi-driver to have kids, something is bugged in your game, or you are a puppy killer. You appear to have a malfunction in your thesaurus. Another way to deal with your problem is have your sim brainwashed, an easy, anodyne, painless, quick and fast way to erase his memory. You should be careful, though, not to erase some other memory. If, for example, you erased his memory of him burning the mac and cheese, next time he would burn it again coz he would not remember it and would not be careful in order not to burn the food again. As a consequence, the next time he would cook mac and cheese he would burn it again. As it will be not bad enough, he might also burn the oven and (-why not?) the whole kitchen. He might also be burned. And this is why sims need a fire-alarm. It does not cost much, so stop being selfish and buy one! If I were you I would put one in every room. Try downloading different colours in order to decorate your sim's house nice house nice. This way your sim's visitors would like to come again and the sim will be popular, have more friends and be promoted. While this would work (assuming you mean doing it in SimPE), you would have to erase the memory from both Sims, or you end up with more screwed memories than your average Maxis pre-built family. Sims cannot learn from their mistakes. Whether they burn food or not is dependent on cooking skill, and cannot be influenced by memory. Sims cannot differentiate between recolours of an object, so different colours of fire alarms would have no effect on room score. Finally, you could use the following code: moveobjects on, and delete your sim's memory. This has no disadvantages, so it's the best. DO IT!
You can't delete memories via moveobjects on. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to express my views on this super-interesting topic. I hope I have been of some priceless help to you and your poor sims.
Yours sincerely, MissBree
Given that all the advice in your post is wrong, with the exception of brainwashing in SimPE, I doubt that you have been of priceless (or any) help to Mens Mortuus. Don't sign your posts.

This post is so inaccurate that there's no point in me even trying to nitpick it. Better to just delete it before the OP tries to take your advice. EDIT: For those of us who seem to need cat macros for everything, what I'm trying to say is: For the curious: Dear Mens Mortuus,

TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Request, nay Demand! for a new FAQ
|

Good work, ERD, but but most of my issue with DC FAQ's is that it can be a hassle to find the one you want when the hack itself doesn't have a thread to itself. If JM or some other kind soul feels obliging, it would probably be trivial to gather all the RTFM's individually, zip them all, and include them in the main directory near the hacks. Otherwise the sort of person who's prone to looking through a list will just look up the standard RTFM, while the sort of person who won't will just come here to bug us again.
Ths has been here since October. Granted, it doesn't include DC-exclusives, and is nowhere near the main directory. I doubt anyone will find this useful for the new FAQ, but it's from the unfinished Oops, You Broke It "Fix It Yourself Before Bothering Us" thread: Welcome to the Oops, You Broke It "Fix It Yourself Before Bothering Us" thread, version 1.
First things first: is your problem caused by hacks? Remove your downloads folder, and start the game. Does the problem persist even with no downloads? >If yes, search Oops, You Broke It for a thread regarding your problem. If you find one, and it isn't necromancy, post in that. Otherwise, post a new thread in Oops, You Broke It, describing your problem in detail, preferably with an error log if appropriate. >If no, put your downloads folder back in, and go to post 2.
Post 2: If you have the InTeenimater in your downloads folder, remove it. Did this fix the problem? >If yes, recheck the InTeen documentation. If the problem is not listed as a feature/known bug, then post about it at the InTeen site, NOT HERE. >If no (or you never had it in anyway), go to post 3.
Post 3: Remove all non-Awesome hacks (hacks which are not from MATY). Has this fixed the problem? >If yes, do a binary search of your non-awesome hacks. When you find the culprint, yell at the original creator about it. >If no, do a binary search of your Awesome hacks. When you find the culprint, go to post 4.
Post 4: Does the awesome hack have its own thread? >If yes, post in that, including an error log if appropriate. Disregard all complaints of necromancy. >If no, post a new thread in OYBI, describing your problem in detail, including an error log if appropriate.

For Sims 1, I recommend putting it on an external hard drive/a new hard drive partition. That way, everyone has read/write acccess. That's what I did, and it works fine.

Wearing 'her' flower necklace? In sims 2 Death is a male
Well, you would assume so, but I seem to remember someone extracting Death out of the objects.package, and finding out that simDeath was actually female. It might not have actually been extracted, so it could have been one of those effects that only happened with a sociable Grim Reaper mod installed (possibly the WooHoo cutscene, it's been a long time since I saw a screenshot of it).

I think that Syberspunk is referring to this hack. And I think these sort of hacks only break patches if the patch needs to modify that file (which is why some patches barf if you just edit Graphics Rules.sgr, it isn't the file the patch expected, but non-patched files aren't read).

Why don't you just go to the C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\The Sims 2 (or the folder which contains all the EP/SP data in subfolders) directory, do a search for "*" (minus quotes), then sort by date modified? That should tell you exactly what you need to replace.
I don't think any of the objects.package files are the problem though. Isn't the bone structure for the face stored in one of the Sims3D packages?
