101  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Poll: How do you feel about accidental deaths in the Sims 2? on: 2007 March 30, 17:30:40
I remember when I discovered the danger of (pre-Seasons) hottubs. My man was playing his self-sim's son, who got engaged to the Cheerleader in college, before we knew it was a VBT, and at his Wedding Party he starved to death in the hottub (I wouldn't be surprised if it was partially 3-bolt syndrome!). Since he hadn't married the girl yet, there were no residents on the lot to plead for his life. As his first accidental sim death (this was, like, a week after we first got the game and Uni and NL) he ended up quitting without saving. His elder self-sim hadn't even died of old age yet!
102  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Poll: How do you feel about accidental deaths in the Sims 2? on: 2007 March 29, 20:53:19
I voted for increased deaths, but really I'd like what a lot of people seem to prefer, not so much more stupid or bizarre death (although I admit I do have 2J's satellite drop increase hack), but illness should be deadly on occasion (I never treat sims different when they are sick, and they never die on me). Of course, I micro-manage my sims, so whenever they try to do something stupid, I can usually tell them to do something else. I really ought to let more of them electrocute themselves, I guess, but the first time I figured out that was possible I killed Nina (who I had my self-sim wooing, and she's one of my favorite sims), so I ended up not saving it. And now that I have Monique's save game reminder, preventing an accidental death (usually from me neglecting one sim for another) that I don't want is even easier. It also be nice if sims who froze could die from cold rather than having to die from starvation eventually. They could be treated like drowned ghosts for all I care, they leave puddles everywhere because they're "thawing out".
103  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: LTW's on: 2007 March 27, 21:18:19
"LTW's" is appropriate grammar, because LTW is an acronym. You also should type as "TV's" and "VCR's" as other examples. "Life Time Want's" would be incorrect, sure, but acronyms are supposed to always use an apostrophe.
104  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Get Over It, Already! on: 2007 March 25, 00:28:27
He's probably had bodyguards for 30 years, I'd guess you have to get used to them at some point.
105  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Sim inside greenhouse affected by fire outside on: 2007 March 23, 01:23:06
I think the game treats greenhouse walls like fences rather than like actual walls, which is silly since they made the room dividers which are fences treated like walls.
106  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: What makes a nanny good at their job? on: 2007 March 15, 03:59:12
The nanny only tracks one sim's schedule, so if you want to go that way your best option is to have the one that leave later schedule the nanny and have the other one send her home after getting off of work. I don't think the game can track more than one schedule to try and figure out what hours there are no teens or adults around.
107  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Sims freezing in custom CAS on: 2007 March 13, 00:29:07
Doesn't that usually remove all the objects from a lot? If it works fine that way, that's great, if it doesn't the other option would be to make the sim into a custom townie with the teleporter shrub (or something like it).
108  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Dizzy Sitter Hack on: 2007 March 13, 00:18:35
Since the sitter hack stopped working for Pets, what I  have done is use the teleporter shrub to bring a relative, neighbor or family friend to the lot, made them selectable, and afterwards send them payment with JM's money order object. It's more work than the sitter hack was, but it could be useful for story purposes.
109  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Can I delete downloaded sims? on: 2007 March 06, 09:59:55
Deleting just the sim will not delete the custom content. Just to be safe, it'd probably be best to do it from the BS or in game, rather than trying to delete the package straight from your folders.
110  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Seasons: What mods are you already begging for? on: 2007 March 05, 16:09:26
I would like a better bugJarNoDecay. The cheat that is built in, for my game at least, cannot be put into my handy .cheat file -- for me it not only doesn't work, but causes any cheats after it to not be entered as well
I had the same experience, I wondered why I wasn't in debug mode, the lightning bug cheat was the only new addition to my userstartup file. When I removed it, the startup worked fine again.

I was worried that maybe I'd typed the cheat in incorrectly. Nice to know I'm not the only one with this problem, irritated with it like everyone else that wants it. Who wouldn't want free lighting?
111  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Some want slots missing after Seasons install on: 2007 March 05, 15:54:56
Just a note on the original question: I had the same thing with Lucy Burb, but she had all wants and fears completely empty. Rerolling with the Lot Debugger didn't work, but she got one want after school that first day (I always time warp back about 5 minutes so the bus will come), and after sleeping some in the evening before her dinner and homework, she rolled up all want and fear slots except one. I also left the lot and restarted the game when the Debugger didn't work, so I just had to wait for her to make up her mind on her own. Of course, Seasons borks the beginning plots for at least the Goths, the Pleasants and the Dreamers even more so than other expansions did, with wants they should have starting out not being there the very first time they are loaded. (Cassandra didn't have the want to marry Don, Daniel didn't have any woohoo wants at all, for either the maid or his wife, and Darren wasn't so keen on increasing his creativity. It was strange. Didn't check the others out too much except to know that Brandi and Beau looked about right, and Dustin didn't. Don and the Calientes were all moved into the Goth lot by marriage instead of playing their original home lots.)
112  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Ottomas family in Seasons - normal brokenness and more brokenness on: 2007 March 05, 09:52:36
ACR has a morning after pill if it is within the first 24 hours after conception. Also, either ACR or Insim have the miscarriage thing, if the motives get too low in the first 24 hours, there's a chance the sim will miscarry. I had that couple of times because I wasn't watching carefully.

Actually, miscarriage is a function of InTeen.
113  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Are sims supposed to get a memory of being struck by lightning? on: 2007 March 05, 09:39:08
Almost makes me wonder if Maxis used the basic electrocution memory for lightning strikes, but since Knowledge sims want to experience the latter but not the former, I'd think they'd have made a new "positive" memory for lightning.
114  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Weird graphics issue with Seasons on: 2007 March 03, 21:43:15
I don't use any custom items (at the moment anyway) but I did have the back of the cheapest shower sink into a wall after placing it in a Riverblossom Hills home. Didn't occur to me until I saw this thread that it's not supposed to do that (it just looked like the piping was in the wall, actually very realistic as glitches go).
115  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Official Site Downloads included with each expansion - looking for a list on: 2007 March 03, 21:38:39
I don't know if it was ever officially released by EA, but the "lost" racecar bedroom set for kids is in Seasons. So if you have it (Numenor version or otherwise), you can pull it out now. Smiley
116  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Um? (Seasons fire glitching) on: 2007 March 03, 21:29:07
I've had 3 different bed fires.  The beds just burst into flames, or the sims in them do.  The first time it happened, the old couple died, after that I installed sprinklers above all beds so the other 2 times it happened no one died.

Was this post-Seasons? I mean, were they possibly spontaneously combusting from overheating in their own beds?
117  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: For those of you who wish to UNpatch Pets - Body Shop Patch here. on: 2007 March 03, 15:35:46
The link doesn't work anymore, any chance it can be updated just in case someone still needs it? I've heard rumors of people without Pets having BS problems in Seasons. If this isn't the case, nevermind.
118  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Creating Puppies and Kittens for Adoption on: 2007 March 03, 13:54:18
I like the idea of a puppy and kitten to adopt only clean template for the pets loading, and I would certainly be interested in that myself, since they are the only pets I'd be interested in adopting (and after raising the initial ones, I could breed them to make more).

Nice edit Amber! Look a lot like how I wear my hair now, and I like it without the wispy bangs since I have none. Cheesy

Well I tried to place a fence to place the doors, cuz that's what it said they had to be on, but it wouldn't go on a fence either, so I deleted it and just placed the doors, but obviously it's just acting as though they weren't there..

Kinda sounds like you're trying to use regular doors for your greenhouse - that doesn't work. There's a special greenhouse door in your gardening section.

nope, actually I was using the greenhouse doors, and I still can't get them to work in my game. I even started a new greenhouse from scratch. I am a pretty advanced builder, not new to this at all, just so you know.  I went in after this last night and tried again. Every time no matter what I do I get the "Must be placed on a fence" message. In fact, the only way I COULD get a door on my greenhouse was to put up a section of wall and put a different door on it (so yes, that does work by the way) but I really want my greenhouse door Sad It will go down if I place it with move objects on, but then I might as well not even have a green house because it doesn't act like a room.

Sounds to me like maybe something got corrupted after install? You should back up your neighborhoods and downloads and try reinstalling Seasons.
121  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: The Great Hack Hunt on: 2007 March 02, 10:28:20
I'm pretty sure ML stands for Mary Lou, she and Numenor do the extended cabinets. Actually, I think those are window hacks, though. I know that there are windows and doors with those names, but I don't remember what they do (even though I have them too).
122  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Clothing equality mod - adult clothes for elders, buyable maternity and work on: 2007 March 02, 10:12:51
I've left mine in with no problems, but it (obviously) doesn't affect the new clothes in Seasons (yet, hopefully!).

Man, I just repatched yesterday because I couldn't find this! At least what was conflicting on me the first time is not in my system anymore.

If you are having problems with extracting the floor .rar's and don't want to deal with WinRAR, I suggest 7-zip. It's free, easy, and I used it to extract the series so it can do it.  Grin (As a note, I did select them all, right clicked, then used the 7-zip menu to "Extract Here")

I took a look at his Gisele Versace sim. Scary!  Shocked
