101  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Factory / Re: New World: Bayborough (Bare Bones) on: 2010 April 13, 18:33:41
One thing I am hoping for is fewer standard rabbitholes in custom hoods.

I do have in mind to do exactly this with my next world attempt, as the theme will call for it. This being my first attempt at new worlding I took some shortcuts.

------

Here are some lot placement shots for you.

I took these with the default grass texture so you could compare it to the one I used. It could be my computer settings but the darker one I used fits the "lush" look I was going for and is a lot less noticeable in it's repetitiveness. Unfortunately, any lighter grass textures I try have the extreme visible tiling or they are too yellow. Perhaps I just haven't found the right texture pack yet.

Here's a bird's eye comparison of the grass:

I'd be happy to upload an alternate version with the lighter grass if you would prefer.

Do not ever install a beta world into your play game! To completely remove all traces and make a final version playable it is necessary to remove the dcdb files created during installation.
To test a world:
1. Remove your play game dcdb files (in My Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3) and place them somewhere safe.
2. Install world.
If Riverview is included in your installed content you will need to remove it via the uninstall world method below. You can then reinstall it in your test game for use with your testing.

To uninstall a world:
1. Use the uninstall option from the game launcher.
2. Delete all caches (including and most definately worldcache).(in My Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3)
3. Delete all dcdb files from your DCCache folder.(in My Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3)
4. Make sure all .world files are removed from your InstalledWorlds folder.(in My Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3)

You can then replace your play game dbdc files and install the final version of your new world for play. I recommend always testing a world before deciding to add it permanently to your game.

FWIW I discovered unchecking the the little option box that enables the store/shop while you play increased my performance by great measures. YMMV

We all keep hoping for that miracle. We all keep hanging onto the hope, with every "fresh new hood and a brand new install" THIS will be the one that doesn't stutter/freeze/chop/blue screen/error code/hang/general borkedness/EIAFBVFS.

In essence: Computer specs really don't seem to make any bit of difference (by perusal of the many different specs listed in the multiples of threads covering these issues). The game runs like crap. It's how it was built.

This forum exists. I brought coffee.

Working in my latest "spankin fresh hood" atm.

107  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: New AwesomeMod Request Thread on: 2009 October 07, 06:34:01
I don't know if this has been said yet, but...

modthesims has a debug enabler that has not been updated for patch 1.4, and the debug enabler has a feature called "money" - you type in money and then a value and it gives the household whatever the value is you typed in.

AM does not have this feature, and it needs it.

AM does in fact have this feature.
108  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Is there a Sims 3 'Insimenator like mod available? on: 2009 October 04, 17:43:51
Funny, I was just thinking that the NRAAS Supercomputer is shaping up nicely as a sort of insiminator type mod... without the crap.
109  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: New AwesomeMod Request Thread on: 2009 October 03, 19:47:17
I wonder if the conflict is with changing the aging rates/brackets.  A YA with 67 days instead of 84?  Did you adjust the age in the options panel to extend it?  That time is way longer than the normal for a YA.

Yes. I adjusted Absimliard's mod with suggested tweaks from Lion found in the mod thread.

I'm thinking maybe it's not so much a "conflict" as it is just some voodoo being applied to the extended ages.

__

So on topic: Possible for a "Go To" or "Visit Household of" from the relationship panel?
110  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: I don't get it.. on: 2009 October 02, 15:42:45
I'm pretty sure it has something to do with the constant loading of cues for inactive sims.

Starting a spanking fresh hood with only 1 sim results (at least for me) in a very smooth game (after the initial NPC generation). It's when the population starts rising that the random few second pauses start occurring, beyond just pausing for sim spawning.
111  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: New AwesomeMod Request Thread on: 2009 October 02, 07:21:58
On the "townie teenager was a toddler 2 days ago" subject:
I have recently noticed randomness with age transitioning. In active householsd, upon birth through birthdays, sims are aging up into a random day within the stage they are aging up to. That is, babies have a life stage of 4 days. I just had twins born. One of them was, immediately upon birth, already at 2 days until aging up. The other was at 3 days until aging up. A newly transitioned YA came into his YA-hood with 67 days left rather than the full length of 84 (I think it's 84. It's 80something). It would make sense if this is what's happening to inactives. They're randomly being assigned an age several days further along in the lifestage and so then aging much faster.

I *do* have Absimiliard's aging mod with Lion's tweaks in and I wonder if the others noticing the odd age transitioning have an aging mod in as well.

112  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: New AwesomeMod Request Thread on: 2009 September 29, 06:40:47
Would it be at all possible to expand the no fast aging of inactive babies to include no fast aging of any inactives?

I always update my awesome mod before I play, so I know I have the newest version.  I have inactive toddlers jumping right to teens (apparently?), and inactive children aging to teens and then aging again to adults all while my playable teen is still a teen.  I don't understand why the game is so broken to begin with, but a fix that forces the entire neighbourhood to actually age in sync would be *greatly* appreciated.

I second this. Here I was thinking my generation kids would be growing up alongside their peers. But nnnooooo. EA says why the heck would anyone want to do that!?
113  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Awesomod discussion/questions/helpful tips thread on: 2009 September 29, 03:24:14
The story announcements are part of AwesomeMod not AwesomeStoryMode.

Is this confusing enought for you yet?  Cheesy
114  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Awesomod discussion/questions/helpful tips thread on: 2009 September 29, 03:15:42

I realize this may not be funny to you, but when I took a look at her "new" lab outfit - I lol'd.

Did you try typing "unlockoutfits on" in the console and then try editing her outfit in CAS? I haven't had an occasion to personally try that but I understand that's supposed to unlock all the career outfits.

Oh I did indeed lol. I still do every time she gets ready for work.
I set the config in-game, turning the edit career outfits on. It added the tab for career outfits to the UI in CAS but clicking on that tab resulted in nothing: no outfits to edit.

What I did find is that I can actually click on the dresser and have her change into the correct career outfit and she'll keep it on when she goes to work. This is seperate from the EditCareerOutfit and I'm not sure if it's default game or AM related. *shrug* It works, though she still tries to dress like she's auditioning for Saturday Night Fever if left to default.

Now I just need to dig up some more info on the NULL KEY lifetime rewards.

----

@Sandman - I don't know if the announcements you are getting are from AM or ISM but AM does have a story announcement. Disabled by default but when enabled it does all those things you are saying you are getting: jobs, moves, marriages, pollinations. I don't recall it announcing births but I don't think I've had any birhts in a good while either.

You *can* use AwesomeMod and IndieStone together. You *can not* use AwesomeStoryMode and IndieStoneMod together.
ASM is (inside) AM, not enabled by default and not exactly the same thing as AM.
115  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Awesomod discussion/questions/helpful tips thread on: 2009 September 28, 23:00:31
(walloftext) I love Awesomod and I feel the IndieStoneMod compliments it. When I read that the guys that created IndieStone wasn't going to be able to keep it going it cross my mind that it would be nice if Pescado would take the IndieStone over and merge it with Awesomod. I almost hate to mention it because I am sure he spends all his waking time working on the Awesomod alone. (walloftext)

Paragraphs please!

You do realize there is an AwesomeStoryMode integrated into AM, yes? Of course you have to turn ISM off and ASM on to use it.
116  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Everything Does Not Belong in EVERY Category! on: 2009 September 28, 22:14:42
I can only think that she is indeed the offending party that set me off. I went on a spree this afternoon having grown bored with the default and store items and unfortunately landed myself in her PMBD folder.
She is not the only offender, however. Several MTS contributors are announcing their crap is listed for every category as well. Like it's a good thing.
117  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Everything Does Not Belong in EVERY Category! on: 2009 September 28, 20:59:51
This is a rant directed at the horror of the current state of too many CC items. It may belong more appropriately in Retardo Land. Whatever. If I had the ability to throw a  brick at 90% of the custom clothing creators making their "goods" available for TS3 players, I most certainly would apply it directly to the forehead.

Lacy underwear and bras DO NOT BELONG IN EVERY CATEGORY!
Use some god damned common sense you lazy fucknuts.
On top of you being too fucking stupid to realize suit tops and skirts do not belong in sleepwear NOR do they belong in swimwear you use the craptastic sim3packs for installation which means if I want to use your design I get to waste MY time extracting your shit to fix it just so it's usable in my game.

No one learned from the nightmare of TS2 binning?

118  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Awesomod discussion/questions/helpful tips thread on: 2009 September 28, 20:46:00
I've been unable to locate any fix to this via searches. Recently I edited the age of one of my sims down from adult to YA. Naturally this borked all her outfits, including her career outfit. I attempted to try the experimental edit career outfit available with AM but was not able to get it to work. Clicking the tab resulted in absolutely nothing. Reset sim did not work either.

Currently my little surgeon is working at the hospital dressed in this:

(it's the female)

Any ideas how one might get her back into her labcoat?
119  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Factory / Re: Absimiliard's Realistic Aging Mod on: 2009 September 10, 01:25:44
Definitely a much better time line. Throwing it in my game immediately.
120  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Awesome Story Driver Beta-Testing reports on: 2009 September 08, 16:15:40
Asking a sim to break up with their partner is not so easily done when all romantic interactions result in +0/-0 because they are already partnered before your sim had a chance to get out of the cab. I haven't yet seen the mean/break up options on a nonromantic relationship. I admit I could be missing it.

I agree that forcing a lesser chance during YA stage would result in some not so ideal family age gaps. It's a great theory but since we're talking about the sims I believe it would end up being as Naples describes. Forcing a "YA must be at least ## days old" won't work because of the differing age cycle options.  Undecided

Still, the speed at which unplayed sims are partnered is annoying and frustrating. Literally minutes to a few short hours after they exist in the world romantic prefs are rolled and they're off to the Mausoleum with someone.

I have witnessed that these partnerings are happening without sims even having met. The game rolls and matches them via some unseen compatibility measure. Maybe if there was someway to force any single existing sims to adhere to the same social standards as played sims? That is: MySimA has to work through a pie menu tree of social interactions in order to build a relationship of any sort. UnplayedSimB should have to jump through the same hoops, being actually and actively social with AvailableSingleSimC rather than simply being rolled into the partnership via the games autopairing.

121  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Awesome Story Driver Beta-Testing reports on: 2009 September 08, 02:29:30
I could make them sacred but that would defeat the purpose of them performing as unplayed townies.
I don't want them to be untouchable, I just think it would be nice to slow the auto-pairing down and maybe force some more detailed compatibility checks. Just a note on my observations and me being curious if it is at all a possibility with ASM.
122  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Awesome Story Driver Beta-Testing reports on: 2009 September 07, 23:39:36
Going back to the topic of romance, could we slow it down a little?

I have been trying to start a new hood lately, a sort of Legacy mash-up where it'll just be one played family throughout how ever many generations I can manage before the whole thing blows up. I create my patriarch and plop him down. Knowing the only sims auto-created with AM running will be work related and not likely any I'll want my sim to procreate with I then make and plop down a few more sims, both male and female to allow for future population of the hood.

So here's the problem:
I don't even get through a full 24 sim hours of play before all romantic prefs are run and the available females are snatched up by the available males as partners. If I do not create males, they are auto-generated for jobs and wham-o, snatch up all the ladies. This way at least allows a little more time to work on the woo-ing.

I did not consider creating premade couples and specific singles because I thought it would be interesting to see the partnering results.
Unfortunately it's leaving my patriarch sim in the cold for a partner.

So I guess my inquiry is: Is there anyway to get the auto-story partnering to slow the hell down? Maybe a 48 - 72 hour wait before any romantic prefs are initialized for non partnered sims?
123  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Long pauses on: 2009 September 07, 03:59:57
As a note, I was having the random hangs in a Sunset Valley hood. I roundaboutly discovered my Riverview was corrupt, pitched and reinstalled it, then did a full reinstall of all my "store" items and am no longer having any hang issues in Sunset Valley.

Perhaps corrupted files or are causing these pause issues?

My game is running smooth as butter (beyond the normal freeze to load objects in a new area) with the most recent build (no library - recipe options enabled).
124  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Awesome Story Driver Beta-Testing reports on: 2009 September 04, 02:23:26
I'm also experiencing a large dose of cheating sims. Large as in everyone who's married is cheating on their spouse with everyone else who's married as well as with available singles.
125  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Factory / Sunset Valley: Cribbed and Lotted on: 2009 September 02, 01:48:41
Save Game: Sunset Valley, empty of all inhabitants, cribbed for pollination and all plots lotted with the exception of 15 Summer Hill Court. As might be deduced, this was sloshed together for a Legacy type hood.
I do not claim any credit beyond plopping down a few lots here but I thought perhaps the lazy might could have a use of it.
I've done my best to lot streets in keeping with the existing architectural style of houses already built on them.
