Title: BV: Anybody Updating These Abandoned Mods?
Post by: Ambular on 2007 September 06, 21:01:04
ETA3--IMPORTANT, PLEASE READ: If you choose to run the hackdiff tool against your installed mods, please only use that information to report unsupported mods that need updating (by creators who are no longer around) or to check and see whether active modders have already updated their stuff.  Please do not pester Pescado, Syberspunk, TwoJeffs, Dizzy, Jordi, jfade, Inge, Jase, Eric, Paladin, Numenor, Monique or anybody else who is still modding in the Sims community with diff reports. They already have the information, or will get it for themselves in their own good time, and will likely find the spam highly annoying.

---

Well, it seems like this time around we've got several popular modders gone MIA and leaving a bunch of stuff behind that really would be a shame to lose.  I thought maybe it'd be good to have one thread where anybody who's updating them, or knows where they're being updated, can report the fact.

So, is anybody updating hacks by the following creators (or others that are known to have left the building) for Bon Voyage?  If so, please reply with a link!  (I'll add any others to this list if applicable.)

Squinge
Crammyboy <-- Assumed dead until proven alive.
Atavera (the Custom Instrument Hack particularly)
Christianlov
Lizzlove

ETA: Anybody who has been brave enough to try a hack by one of the above creators that was tagged as broken by HackDiff in BV, please report your findings back here; sometimes such a mod will continue to work just fine (particularly if all that comes up is "Name Unsupported,") or will work but will disable some new EP feature that we can choose whether to do without.

Modders who have kindly offered to update: Would it be at all helpful if I compiled a list of which specific borked hacks have had requests?

ETA 2:  If you would like to check your own collection of hacks for possible updates needed, you will need three things:

1.  At least a basic understanding of how to use a command line;
2.  Pescado's hackdiff utility, located here (http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com/smf/index.php/topic,3247.0.html);
3.  The diff report for Bon Voyage, located here (http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com/smf/index.php/topic,9517.0.html).  (Please note that this is the diff from Seasons w/patch 2 to Bon Voyage.  If you don't have Seasons, or if it's unpatched, you will need to run your own check.  Instructions are in the RTFM.)

ETA 4:  I've tried to compile a list of abandoned mods that have been checked for compatibility to date, so please look here before posting:  http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com/smf/index.php/topic,9533.msg263189.html#msg263189 (http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com/smf/index.php/topic,9533.msg263189.html#msg263189)

Well, his last post was July 18.  I don't think he's made a formal announcement, but Pes has discounted his hacks to half-off.  I'm proceeding on the assumption that he's gone unless he appears to say otherwise.

As soon as I can put my hands on BV objects.package, I'll try to check compatibility/update for Squinge's mods (at least the simpler ones). Jordi also said that he will.

Awesome, thank you!  I've got a fair number of his mods (mostly simpler stuff) and a lot of them scanned clean, but several do need possible updates.

ETA: the diff scan for BV is already up, I think in Bowels of Trogdor or the Armory...

I fully plan to do some fixes for Squinge mods, wherever needed. But at the moment I haven't even installed BV yet ;)

Same for my own mods obviously.

Thank you thank you thank you!

I've already removed all of Squinge's mods related to community lots due to my fears of them not working in BV.  Please let me know if you need a beta tester for Squinge's mods, either of you, as he was one of the ones I depended on and has since disappeared.

Any good list of alternative mods for some of these fine creators as well?

(Am going to have to start coming here more often now...)  ;D

I'm wondering about hacks by christianlov

I'd be very thankful if someone could check

Christianlov_GlobalHackEp4_PetBirthWantSatisfy
Christianlov_GlobalHackEp4_PetFoodNoDecreaseDirty
Christianlov_LearnBehaviorCommandTool
Christianlov_PetCollarAtHome

I've got the PetCollarAtHome, PetBirthWantSatisfy, and LearnBehaviorCommandTool, and hackdiff didn't flag any of them, so at least in theory they should work fine.

Thank you so much!

I could live without PetFoodNoDecreaseDirty if it turns out not to work but when I do finally allow some of my sims to have pets again, I must have the LB command tool to get all the furballs trained ASAP  ;)

Ancienthighway checked a bunch of those hacks and has a compatibility list over on Inteen: http://box156.bluehost.com/~aestudi1/forums/inteenimater/viewtopic.php?f=33&t=362&p=1539#p1539

Stupid question:

How is hack EP compatibility checked?  I'd like to run all of the ones I have installed through.

I'd be interested helping to test any updates to Crammyboy's community time thing...I love it and would hate to lose it. However, i'm not a hacker, so I'm only good for testing.

The only crammyboy ones I use are the easelfix and the outdoorbathfix. I'm curious if either of those are safe to keep using.

As for Squinge, the only one I'm especially concerned with is the Preg-Wear-All hack. I can live without it, but I've gotten used to not having to look at Maxis default maternity wear. I also use his Hula & More, but I'm doubting that'll have any problems. It just won't include any new animations.

How about the all-in-one npc and custom skintone? Don't think I'd want to live without those two LOL

Download the hackdiff utility posted in The Bowels of Trogdor (http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com/smf/index.php/topic,3247.0.html). The actual diffs are also posted in TBoT; you can browse the threads to find the particular diff(s) you need. twojeffs posted the Seasons Patch 2 -> BV diff here (http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com/smf/index.php/topic,9517.0.html).

Something to keep in mind when you look at Pescado's diff is that it doesn't really tell you the whole story. For example:

Code:
B ! 0x7F4437F2 0x20B9 CT - Bed - Relax - Read - Stop

Indicates some change, but this is what a real diff would tell you:

Code:
*************** # Group = 0x7F4437F2, Instance = 0x20B9
*** 47396,47399 ****
  #
! # Format = 0x8007, Params = 0, Locals = 0
! # Tree type = 0x0, Header flag = 0x0, Tree version = 0xFFFF8008 (-32760)

--- 52240,52243 ----
  #
! # Format = 0x8009, Params = 0, Locals = 0
! # Tree type = 0x0, Header flag = 0x0, Tree version = 0xFFFF8008 (-32760), Cache flags = 0

In other words, in this case, a few bits of the header changed and nothing else. (They updated a ton of headers, by the way.)

Well, a more complex diff would have run the risk of being unreliable. I was working under the assumption that the DBPF format itself was unlikely to change, but that if I attempted a more in-depth scan of BHAVs to locate specific differences, the program would likely crash when it was unable to read the 800A format BHAVs. Thus, operates data-agnostically and performs a simple md5 comparison, flagging anything that for you to review, rather than exploding in a big fiery ball visible from space when it tries to read something that it might not be able to understand. It's like dealing with the Outer Gods: Don't look too closely, or you'll go insane.

I've come to rely on Hula & More as a major storytelling device and I do hope someone might be willing to continue onward in adding new animations to the old ones. Please? Firstborn male child..? Aright, how about a slightly tarnished soul?

I've been meaning to see if I can't add weather reactions to one or another of my movie hacks, since I need them for a movie I'm making... never managed to complete a hack on my own, but it seems simple enough, so I'll try with Hula and if I manage it, I'll share ^^

PregWearAll seems to be working, but I'm not sure that it will with the new outfits. Anyways, I had a pregnant sim run through all stages and she kept to normal clothes except right when she popped...which is what's always happened with me.

For the record, these are the Squinge mods I have that were tagged as needing updates:

ChildKissAnyChild.package
DanceSoloToddlerEnabled.package
DropGroceries.package
GardenerDoorFix.package
hirefamilymember.package
honeymoon.package
randomalienpregnancy.package
selectablebabies.package
StopInvitingDownTown.package
SwimPoolTalk.package
tuckinanyone.package

Of those, that last one, tuckinanyone, is the one that concerns me most.  Although I'd also adore it if someone would PLEASE update his adult-enabled dollhouse, which never even made it to Seasons status.  ;_;

If I understand correctly, individual custom instruments will still work, but without a functioning Custom Instrument Hack they can't be used to join in with other instruments.

Also note that not everything that gets flagged by Hackdiff actually stops working, so if anybody wants to try out "may need updating" hacks by these creators in BV and report back here, that'd be swell.

Just wanted to say thanks to all of you who are working on or plan to work on updating/figuring out what's borked/replacing with new hacks from those Modders who've disappeared/taken their toys and went home.

I'll be keeping an eye on Decorgal and Aikea. Both of them have some pretty solid animation hacks, though they're not quite as easy to use as Hula & More. Decorgal has the talk paintings, which are very well laid out, but the animations don't loop, so they get tricky to coordinate shots for. The Aikea paintings are a little haphazardly laid out, but they offer more animations than Hula & More. I was able to use their punching bag animations for a fight scene in my latest update, WITHOUT dealing with the automatic change into gym clothes.

Still...I hope someone picks up the torch for Hula & More and runs with it. :)

Aikea just got back from Dragon*Con and just uploaded BV a day or so ago. She's been playing around with it(posted a few screenshots in her LiveJournal), so I imagine she's working on updating her stuff relatively soon.

I put all of Squinge mods I had in a folder (which is about 175 of them), no I am not using them all but thought it could be useful to some if I would run the hack diff on all I have.  Of course, there are many alternate version in there and you have to remember it is based on the one I have which are not necessarely the same version you are using.

I posted it elsewhere but here it is for you guys too.  Enjoy!

You are very welcome, hope it can make it easy for some to decide if they can or will or not update some of them.

If you know some do not need update among that list, it would be really nice if you could post about it.  If you need the original file, all of them (and more) should be found at the sims2graveyard but you can also pm me if you prefer if you want more info about what it does.

The following have merely had header updates (and do not need to change):

Code:
AnyLTWforallaspirations.package: may require possible updates:

    B 0x7F739728 0x1185 CT - Test - Lifetime Want - Woohoo

JumponBedLess.package: may require possible updates:

    B 0x7F4437F2 0x202C Interaction - Jump On Bed - TEST

    B 0x7F4437F2 0x206C Jump on Bed - Set Motives

noautonomouscomputer.package: may require possible updates:

    B 0x7F441294 0x2006 Interaction - Chat - TEST

tuckinanyone.package: may require possible updates:

    B 0x7F4437F2 0x209E Interaction - Tuck In - TEST

Dizzy thank you very much for taking the time to check it.  Any LTW is one I was hoping would not need update.

I knew I was right posting this here.  ;D

Thanks MissDoh for posting the hack diff but 3 mods that I'm really worried about weren't in your list. So if someone could please please please check them for me I'd be very grateful. I'd check them myself but I don't actually have a copy of BV in my possession. I'll upload them in case no one else has a copy themselves. I have a feeling, since these are ones I really want, they will be incompatible...

Edit: Removed hack zip file.

You don't need BV to check them, all you need is hackdiff and the diff report located here:

My personal Squinge wish list update are these:

noautonomousdishes (called noautonomousdodishesaltver)
NoAutonomousInstruments (the alternate EP5 version)
randomalienpregnancy (version male and female)

That is it.  All 3 original files can be found at the sims2graveyard site.

thanks

EDIT:  Adding Noautonousballoonfight to the lits.  Antiprank is not bad but whenever my sims are trying to have the autonomous action my game lags badly, so I would prefer a total no autonomous mod.

The combo hack (Servo and preggo) still works...at least when it comes to maternity wear. I don't have many servos to check them. I have the Seasons version.

I got a third trimester pregnant woman to walk to a community lot...without any such hacks.

Squinge's PregnancyWearAnyOutfit works for me with just the maxis clothes and these pregnancy enabled body meshes (http://www.modthesims2.com/showthread.php?t=237740). Tested it out with Brandi Broke, so she is useful for something. ;)

Those meshes are awsome. I stopped using Squinge's hack when he stopped making it compatable with inteen. If you use those meshes and the wardrobe mode from insim, it works pretty much the same way - except you need to change back into "everday" each trimester. Of course, insim needs to be updated too, now.

Okay, I'm not-awesome but I didn't need the hackdiff tool to tell me that.   :)

I can't figure out how to run a batch scan.  I can scan indiv files by running hackdiff -i SEAp2-BVdiff.txt -f whateverhack.package  but whenever I try to put in the directory for my hacks folder, I get an error message.

Yeah, there's a reason I've been incapable of running that myself... it doesn't even launch on my computer, so at least you're farther than I am.

Life preserver, someone?

1.  Copy hackdiff.exe and SEAp2-BVdiff.txt to whichever Downloads subfolder has your hacks and mods (I recommend not scanning ALL your CC; it takes forever if you have a lot, and it choked the tool when I tried it.)

2.  Open a command line window there.

3.  Type in at the prompt (don't copy and paste) the following command and hit Enter:

dir/s/b *.package > hacks.txt

(This will create a file called hacks.txt with a listing of all the .package files in your hack directory and any subdirectories it may have.)

4.  Now type in the following:

hackdiff -i SEAp2-BVdiff.txt -l hacks.txt > report.txt

(This will cause the tool to check each hack in the report you just created against the diff report to see if contains code that has changed, and save the results to a file called report.txt.)

5.  Remove hackdiff.exe and SEAp2-BVdiff.txt from your hack directory to a secure storage location to keep things tidy, close the command window, and open report.txt in Notepad or your word processor of choice to see which of your hacks are borked.

(Optionally, I find it makes things much easier if I use Edit/Find And Replace to change the first part of the directory paths in report.txt to a blank space.  i.e.:

Find: C:/Documents and Settings/Owner/MyDocuments/EA Games/The Sims 2/Downloads/ (or whatever your specific Downloads path is)

Replace with: [one blank space]

Then hit "Replace All" and you'll then have just the specific paths and files left.  For instance,

Hacks/Squinge/randomalienpregnancy.package

instead of

C:/Documents and Settings/Owner/MyDocuments/EA Games/The Sims 2/Downloads/Hacks/Squinge/randomalienpregnancy.package.)

Thanks Amber, thanks to your instructions I have checked my hacks and I am putting the report here for people to check against their installed hacks if it helps. All of Tj's and Pescados hacks are the latest version.

Oh btw for Vista users-to open a command line you need to shift and right-click. Took me ages to work it out. :P

Heh, sorry about that, I stilll use XP and I think I used a cheat of some kind to get a context menu item to do it...

Thanks for sharing your info.  I wouldn't worry about Pescado's or TJ's hacks, though; of all the modders, they're usually the most on top of things and I know they've both been busy updating since the day BV became available.  jfade, Syberspunk, Inge, Eric and Jase will also be updating as quickly as they can.  This thread is mainly concerned with mods by people who are no longer actively supporting their own work.

Jordi has an inteenimated version of the Squinge pregwearanyoutfit mod in  his section (http://box156.bluehost.com/~aestudi1/forums/inteenimater/viewforum.php?f=15) on the inteen forum. Obviously the kitten killer is not BV compatible yet, but once it's updated I imagine that Jordi will update as well.

Hackdiff is not a Windows utility.  Mousy-clicking it won't do diddly.  You need to invoke it from the command prompt like a DOS command.

Well, I did try it like that first. I used the instructions that you gave earlier in this thread and this is what I got: 'hackdiff' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file. I'm not that familiar with this stuff but I was hoping to learn it. I can't seem to find any sort of walkthrough. It's either you know it or you don't. So I guess I'll just wait around and see what other people come up with on these hacks.

Thanks for all the help though!

Well, I did try it like that first. I used the instructions that you gave earlier in this thread and this is what I got: 'hackdiff' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file.

That usually means you're trying to execute the command from the wrong directory (folder.)  Your command line has to show the path of the same folder that hackdiff.exe is in in order for it to work.

Like so:

(image removed)

If you're in the wrong directory, you can get to the right one by typing:

cd [full path of the desired directory]

For example:

cd C:/Documents and Settings/Owner/MyDocuments/EA Games/The Sims 2/Downloads/Hacks

And as an aside...

AmberDiceless weeps to be living in a time when such things need to be explained.

1) The community time project is by Dizzy, not Crammyboy. Check Peasantry for updates. Nevermind. The Community Time mod is indeed by Crammy, not Dizzy. I don't know what I was thinking (or not thinking), but I was obviously confuzzled. *sigh* How embarrassing.

2) Most hacked objects (as opposed to global mods) will still work with new EPs. The exceptions are things that will obviously use features of the new EP, such as Monique's computers, but for hacked objects that are specific to a certain EP (such as Pets-related objects), it is generally safe to use those even after installing a new EP.

I've come to rely on Hula & More as a major storytelling device and I do hope someone might be willing to continue onward in adding new animations to the old ones. Please? Firstborn male child..? Aright, how about a slightly tarnished soul?

-gets all squishy with Teh Fellow Boolian-

I do have installed some paintings and boxes for movie/story editing animations, but they're terribly confusing to me. If I could have my druthers ALL of the various animations and Overlays would be part of Hula & More and be easily broken down (i.e. the Sub-sub-sub menus Hula has/had so's you had a good idea which section you should click to find the animation you want.
That said, the talk overlay setup spouted some hysterical pictures while Silly (not Big nor Brynne) was posing her sim family for the BP Calendar Comp. She asked me for some posing help and I fumbled around with the talk & overlay items.. Thing is, the Talk icon dropped from the cue so I had no idea the sim was still showing "talk" animations when I had her Pose.

noautonomouscomputer.package: may require possible updates:

For your info, this Squinge mod is indeed broken, it woriks if sims are trying to play games (I did not saw any trying that), but they can go autonomously to  the computer to chat which they were not able to do when I only add Seasons in, been using this one for quite awhile.

Is anybody aware of a noautonomous computer that is working with BV?

The other three parts are all clean.  And I'm a big ole coward about trying it out since it affects the sleep routine.   :-\

    P 0x7F1E0687 0x0080 name unsupported
    P 0x7F96C47B 0x0080 name unsupported

(But somebody said if it said 'name unsupported' that it was still safe to use.)

I've got a little more information about that now.  "Name Unsupported" means a string (plain text) which more often than not has to do with programmer comments, changes having to do with foreign language support, or other noncritical stuff.  But it CAN cause problems in some cases.  Here's what Pescado has to say about it in chat (edited slightly for clarity):

"I look at the instance numbers for those.  [AD: That would be the 0x[whatever number] right before the "name unsupported."]  0x12F, 0x130, if that shows up, bad.  12F is the RTBN list, 130 is the LUA list..So if THOSE change, likely lines were added.

0x12D, or Pie Menu Strings, probably ignore for now.  Pie menu strings, you won't get any SERIOUS errors even if something did change...And the errors will be immediately apparent when you click on the affected object in-game.

Otherwise, it is probably not of any substantive interest that support for Swahili was added in the new strings."

So, if you want to further check your "name unsupported" hacks, go through the report with your word processor's Find function and look for 12F and 130 in the instance numbers (and 12D if you want to be extra vigilant.)

Okay, so the computer sharing thing is probably bad... any idea why I might be having animation skip issues now?  I'm going through and adding/testing all files in game, using only clean hacks, but I'm still seeing some animation jumping on most of the new interactions.

testingcheats does generate errors when I do this, would those help somebody here narrow things down to if its an abandoned hack or current one?

You can go ahead and post the error log; I can't guarantee anybody will look at it or be able to help, but someone might.

Awesome.  I have three more tests to run before my downloads folder is back to how it used to be (minus the bad hacks) so I'll see what I can compile then.  I've removed some of the animation related hacks so hopefully that problem's been solved.

I'm wondering about hacks by christianlov

I'd be very thankful if someone could check

Christianlov_GlobalHackEp4_PetBirthWantSatisfy
Christianlov_GlobalHackEp4_PetFoodNoDecreaseDirty
Christianlov_LearnBehaviorCommandTool
Christianlov_PetCollarAtHome

I've got the PetCollarAtHome, PetBirthWantSatisfy, and LearnBehaviorCommandTool, and hackdiff didn't flag any of them, so at least in theory they should work fine.

How about the all-in-one npc and custom skintone? Don't think I'd want to live without those two LOL

I have all-in-one and I noticed that when I was on vacation if I ordered room service they would say they where going to bring it but the desk clerk would pull it out from under the counter and then it would just dissappear and never get to my room. I took out the all-in-one and the insimenator and the problem was solved but I'm not sure which one it was, I'm assuming the all in one because of the food relation.

Oh yuck.... I'll have to investigate it down the road when I get BV.  all-in-one is the best way for maid/butlers and throwing away those crappy dorm cooks.

Testing the servo buying clothes and whatnot (pregandservowearanything) right now, and it seems to be working as long as it's one of the last things to load.  Servos can't buy jewelry obviously since those objects would have to be enabled for servos to purchase, but the mirrors and plan outfit functions seem to be working just fine on dressers and mirrors, plan outfit functionality will need to be added to the changing booths.

Drat , well I will hold on to allinone as long as it causes no further issues. The hotel food sucks anyway. Best to use boolprop dormspecifictoolsdisabled false , that at the least gives me the buy menu. Plop down a grill and I am set for food needs. Though to be honest, with macrotastics, one can caffinate up and get off the hotel lot much easier than it is to meander to your room and eat (even eating hotdogs).

I have not cleaned out my hack folder, cept for those mentioned to cause serious crashes. I even have obj Insim going. I only use it to change turn on/offs.

Crammyboy's 'Eat More Talk Less' is definitely broken, unless you want your sims to sit in silence while eating :D I was playing in a new dorm and one of my sims was sitting eating when he was joined by a dormie. They both finished their meals in complete silence and I noticed the social bar wasn't moving at all. Checked in the memories and he didn't even 'meet' him. I really hope someone updates this, as without it meals take forever!

I don't suppose anybody's updating Christianlov's Boutique clothes rack to show the new tourists/locals? It already finds at least some of the new NPC's in the NPC menu (I saw three ninjas at least) but there's no menu for tourists (obviously). I love that hack... so convenient for finding a particular sim since their pic is right there... no trying to remember the eight gazillion names of the characters that need makeovers.

This hack is incompatible with "noeatcrap". You cannot use both of them, so if you're using noeatcrap (which already includes this functionality), you don't need Crammy's edition of it. And why would you WANT to unnecessarily meet some random dormie to add rel/mem clog anyway?

I found the locals under "sims."  I really hate it that the locals at Takemizu Village don't look at all Asian and many of the locals at the Island don't look Polynesian, so I've been using Christianlov's clothes rack to fix 'em.  I can't change their eye color, but I can at least eliminate all of the blonde and redheaded Asians and Polynesians.  I'm not sure what Maxis was thinking of to make Asians that looked Scandinavian in the first place.  Make new plants, objects, and wallpaper for local color, but make the people look American?  What drugs are they on?

Anyway, ranting aside, the locals can be found under "sims.

Who is resetting and what EP version are you using? As I stated, I haven't tested with Servos as I don't have many...and the only one playing human is in a 'hood that, if I glance at, I'll be lost in for a week. For prego-wear, I've had two pregnancies and no issues that weren't already a part of the Season's version....reset to maternity or default pj's on belly pop, and reset to default wear when a walk-by or non-playable on community lots.

Christianlov_SimBoutique_ClothingRack (it's worked with each ep, just doesn't have the new clothing options, ie "outdoors")

jaxad0127_NoNPCRevert  (has worked up to seasons, so maybe bv too, but wtf do i know? nuthin'!)

As for the all-in-one not working with room service, it's worse than not working, it actually breaks it.  I was trying to find the culpret, and all-in-one was my first choice to remove, and it didn't fix it-- I then removed every hack one by one till the last hack standing didn't make any sence that it was the bad one--so I ran it CC free and it still didn't work.  I had to go to another unplayed neighborhood to confirm that all-in-one was the hack that I was looking for.  That is pretty risking to allow a function to be broken--especially if you put a lot of time into your neighborhood .  Who knows what else it might be doing.

From what I've seen, they're as useless as employees without BRY, if not worse. I really like the DMA sets, but the service NPCs just didn't do their job or only frequently. Okay, maybe they got improved with Seasons - I had the pre-Seasons version and was so dissatisfied that I never tried them again.

FYI.  It is probably a bad idea to use hacks that report as requiring an update, but appear to still work without any object errors.  The reason is... something might have changed drastically, but might still work if the older version still has valid code.  Valid, meaning that, all the lines in the BHAV can still work in the game and/or doesn't interact with any new stuff.

However, even though it appears like the hack might be ok, because you don't get any object errors, this can be misleading.  There could be code changes that is supposed to handle new stuff that was added, but now will be totally ignored because you are essentially running older versioned code.  Even something as 'simple' as a change in a TTAB/TTAs (Pie Menu and/or Pie Menu Strings) can cause problems.  For example, new options might have been added, but since you are running older code, those options won't show up.  So, unless you have a modder that actually verifies that whatever changes occurred do not actually matter, I would recommend that you not use older hacks that reported to require updating by the paladintool.

I think Pescado's customer selector has an option to allow YAs, so you don't necessarily need Squinge's mod. I'm sure somebody will correct me if I'm wrong about this.

No, you're right -- the customer selector gives control over a whole bunch of sim states, including age.  However, it only works on owned lots. I don't know if Squinge's was for only owned lots, or if it let YAs visit any comm lot in the main hoods.

[/quote] Don't get me started on DMA nannies--I hired one and she showed up--told a couple of jokes--then she left the property and the kids would of gotten taken away but I quit without saving.  The maid also went around socializing and I don't even know if she ever cleaned anything.    I couldn't sleep last night, and I was thinking about the all-in-one--the bellhop produced the food without a prob it was the next command that produced the reset(going through the door).  I did a hack report but only on the loose files-everything that was loose came back clean except the door patch that was made for Pets.  I am loathe to empty out that file since I can't replace it if it gets screwed up but I'll check all the files--maybe it will work if someone fixes the door patch--not that that would be easy since everyone is bogged down fixing their own hacks.     Edit:  I ran a hackdiff on my whole folder and the only thing that wasn't clean was the jaxad Door Globals Hack.  The other Christianlov hacks that came back clean were: Pet transporter--Baby Pet Creator--No Flying Bird--Nursery Fridge Cheap--Pet Collar at home--and the Sim Boutique Clothing rack.

Okay.  The thread has gotten fairly long and drifted off-topic in places, so I went through and compiled as much information on what has and hasn't been checked as I could (also included some info from the hackdiff results on my own collection.)

If it's listed under "Clean/Works," that means it's been hackdiffed by someone and come up clean or with only "name unsupported" in a non-critical instance, OR that some experienced modder has already reported it safe.  If it's under "May need updates," it's been hackdiffed and/or had a possible bug reported and, well, may need updates.  If it's under "Needs updating," it's definitely broken.

A few mods may be on more than one list; these work in some capacity, but will require updates for BV-specific functions (explanations are included.)

I make no guarantees as to accuracy, especially where Squinge's mods are concerned--we've got conflicting hackdiff reports from different people, probably indicating they had different versions installed and didn't say which--but I tried to err on the side of caution, so most of those marked Clean/Works should be okay.  Caveat emptor, always back everything up!  And feel free to post more information or a correction if you see I got one wrong.

1) That´s wounderful of you to make this list! Very very helpful, thanks a lot!

2) Last night we missed the option to order a fotoalbum via computer. It was too late to take a closer look at the issue but I suspect "visitorenabledcomputers" (Squinge) although it comes up fine with hack-diff, as it addresses the pie-menues. I will check on that as soon as I find time and report here if nobody is faster than me.

Btw:  I have updated the following:

moveawayfromregister
gardenerdoorfix

careerguitarep5fix (or whatever it was called).

I haven't tested these out yet.  I just added the changes into the new code.  When I get around to it, I'll post them up in my forum, eventually.

I also have my own personal version of visitorenabledcomputers.  I haven't checked it yet, but I believe it also scanned as being clean. *shrugs* I might post that to, maybe.

FYI when I had AdoptTeen installed and invited sims that I met on vacation over for three days, they never showed up. I do not know if anyone else has had this problem but I wanted to share. When I disabled the package my visitors arrived. Also, it was the only hack I had installed at the time.

k, I'll move that to "May need updates."  Thanks!

I've tried different variables on Squinge's hacks.  Adult shoppers works well.  The only one that I seem to have difficulty with is the children sleepover package. The wants to take a picture are there, but the query isn't , neither is the pose.
Edit:  Alwayswearcasualtowork package also works well.

thanks to all for the personal reports on some of the hacks i listed!

*Emma reluctantly takes out the Squinge pregnancy outfit hack and cries  :'(

ugh, you and me both Emma!  i hope someone will come up with a new hack to replace that one; i think a lot of people can't stand the regular maxis maternity wear and don't want to bother with extra meshes needed to cute up the pregnant sims.

Hey guys, I'm using maternity replacements I got from TSR last year.  I think they were Windkeepers.  They're the same style but nicer colors (small patterns, pastel colors).  They'll work for now until some kind, generous person can fix Squinge's hack.

Yea, I noticed that it works at the parks, etc, but not at campground/hotel lots. I guess those are not actually considered community-type lots. Sucks to have your hungry sim grill food then not get to eat before all the townies grab a plate. That's when watching closely and cancelling that serve action comes in handy...lol

I updated swimpooltalk so that it works with Bon Voyage.  Looking through Squinges code I wasn't sure what exactly he was going for with some of it (that's the problem with moddifying other people's work).  But I've managed to eliminate the jump bug that was occuring and they still talk while in the pool so it seems to work.  Let me know if there's something odd about it.

Also, I don't know why the file was named swinpooltalk but I left the typo there anyway.

Sooo...  I can't quite tell; is Crammyboy's Community time mod okay for BV? If not, will it be made so?

This has got to be the one of the top five mods I really don't want to lose, it makes OFB and dating off-lot worthwhile.

There have been many reports about the room service not working. The bell hop pulls out the food from under the desk and it vanishes into thin air. I have this problem too. It seems to work maybe the first time you arrive in a hotel but then stop working after that. I have used All In One in the past, but I took it out before I installed BV. Room service worked fine at first and now does not and I do not have All in One in my folder. So I am not convinced that All in One is the culprit here. On other boards, that is a lot of discussion about this and I do not believe all of those posters use All in One.

Um, I seem to be having a little problem with the hackdiff which I'm hoping someone can help me with? I got through everything just fine, I thought, but when I went to read the report it was blank. An empty text file. Can someone please tell me what I did wrong? I totally appreciate any help.

Did you follow my directions exactly?  I'd be happy to help you figure it out, but I can't say for sure what you did wrong without knowing what you are doing now...

I had to open the report before closing the command line window the first time, otherwise my report was blank, too.

#1:  Thank you, thank you, thank you for this thread!  I have been spending more times bouncing around from forum to forum looking for incompatilble hacks than I have actually playing BV.  And, it's good to see that there are people out there playing with more hacks than I do.  LOL

#2:  I have had the room service "bug".  I also have a bug that turns a plum bob into an urn and puts it in a female sim's ummm, neither-regions when she showers at Uni.  But, because of this thread, and one over at InSim,  I now know I was playing with a couple of incompatible mods:  Squinge's maternity clothes hack and Jordi's clothes hiders.  So, if I have it again I'll let y'all know.  I wish I would have taken a screen-shot of my sim in the shower with an urn stuck up there, that was pretty funny.

I'm having this problem, although it's intermittent (and I can't seem to nail down the exact steps to recreate it each time).  For the record, I DO NOT have All in One, so I think it's something else as well.  Where, exactly, have you seen this discussed?  I haven't been able to find much (although I admit the BBS scares the crap outta me with all their twaddle, "help me name a pet PLEASE !!ONE11").

Since I could not stand seeing my sims jumping on the piano every free second they add, I put back Squinge's  noautonomousinstruments back in the game.  I did not notice any problem other than it does not work with the new grand piano that has been added in BV.

I also put back Squinge's noautonomousdishes in since I got tired of seeing my sims cleaning up dirty plates on community lot.  I did not try vacation lot yet but I am expecting it will not work there but still will on downtown and business community lots.

Will keep you inform.

ETA:  noautonomouscomputer does work as long as the computer is closed.  If you leave it open then sims can go to it to chat autonomously.  If closed I have not seen any try that on their own.

I'm pretty sure I followed all your instructions to run the tool. I made sure I changed the directory, I typed everything in exactly (at first I typed it wrong because I thought the 1 was an I or lowercase L) but the report came back blank. It created the txt docs and the first listed everything correctly but the report was blank. I redownloaded the file TwoJeffs provided just in case. To make sure I had the instuctions correct, I copied and pasted them onto a wordpad doc then typed everything in exactly. I tried it over and over again with the same results. I am so very much non-awesome.  :(

Actually, that is a lowercase L.  Are you certain you got the spacing right, also?  It should go like so:

hackdiff -i SEAp2-BVdiff.txt -l hacks.txt > report.txt

hackdiff [space] [dash][lowercase I] [space] SEAp2-BVdiff.txt [space] [dash][lowercase L] [space] hacks.txt [space] [right arrow] [space] report.txt

And you're certain that the hackdiff utility, SEAp2-BVdiff.txt, and hacks.txt are all in the same directory?  If you got a valid hacks.txt from the first command, then this should work.

/me puzzles.

If it helps, I've been using the old version over the weekend, just to see what would happen.  As far as I can tell, the CBOY_nudist.package and associated mod work in all base, uni, comm, and BV lots.  It does not seem to cause loss of BV interactions and no errors have been logged in my game so far.  I'm keeping it in for now, pending further tests (i.e. sauna woohoo).

Caveat: Have not tested for hammock or sauna woohoo, but for bed and hot tub woohoo, it seems to work as per spec.

The very first time I installed BV and played I decided to play it on a clean slate. No custom content or hacks. I wanted to see what bugs I'd notice before I played with all the custom stuff. Saying all that, I think the issue with the food disappearing is a bug because I had it happen with a clean game twice. I also had it happen after I put all my CC back in. I read about this problem in another forum also.

I think what bugs me more is when they continually go order food even if they're full. I hope someone makes a fix for that soon.

I've made the BV changes to Cboy's Nudist Mode.

The files are attached below.

I in no way wish to claim credit for this mod. It is Cboy's and if he request's it to be removed then it shall be so.

UPDTAE 25/9/2007: Sims choose if they want to wear the towel or be naked for a massage, based on their naked score/Always naked/Never Naked.

UPDTAE 26/9/2007: Sims choose if they want to wear the towel or be naked for a massage or Sauna. They also choose if they wish to be naked for Tau Chi, Hot Sping or Sunbathing. Note the only thing not implemented yet is the sims being naked after woohoo in a sauna.

UPDATE 29/9/2007: This is the actual working version that I should have released on the 26th. Sorry about that.

I've made the BV changes to Cboy's Nudist Mode.

The files are attached below.

I in no way wish to claim credit for this mod. It is Cboy's and if he request's it to be removed then it shall be so.

Thank you Blackwiddow!  :D

Patience Grasshopper, the Mod Gods work in mysterious ways and I suspect the Community Time mod is pretty complex...someone may get to it, or they may not.

My Sims (and I) thank you very much!  :D

As do all my sims and I as well.  Many thanks.  Clothing optional hilarity continues.  My sims can continue to be shocked by their nude spouses - I especially love the "OMG!  You're naked, which is so much more disturbing than the fact that I haven't worn anything all day!" reaction.

Christianlov's Clothing Boutique shows up as clean in Hackdiff, but has anyone been able to have a new vacation Sim buy clothes successfully?  Two times I have had my Sim select a vacation Sim(while at home) to buy clothes and both times the game crashed.  I think because the vacationers are in the Sim category.  Sims have wardrobes and townies don't.  When they were trying to access the list downtown, it actually crashed without selecting a Sim.

By "vacation sim," do you mean fellow tourists or locals?  I redid all of the locals in the Asian neighborhood using christianlov's clothes rack without any problems at all.  I haven't tried to have fellow tourists buy clothes, though, so I can't report on that.

What about these...

Shaklin
medizinschrank (medicine cabinet) - I'm assuming still works
dj-booth_moremusic

Motoki ?
Buyable Work and NPC Clothes
Maxis adult clothes for A YA & E
Ya_to_A_YA_Clothing_Maxis
 - Since Jordi's toddler clothes hider is not working, I don't know if these clothing mods are.

LycosV

Thanks for updating this mod LycosV.... I've wanted this to work for a long time, since it broke after i installed an EP...
Should this work if i don't have BV installed? I just recently put in Seasons and then i found your fixed version the next day and tried it out... but (there's always a but) when i got a chance to play today.. on 2 different lots with 2 different sims i had the same error come up after the sim dived in a pool.... there were no other sims in the pool... i didn't direct the sims to dive in the pool, but both had the same error and both now have a really bad case of gas.... it's funny... the animation was interrupted when they were diving so they still have a trail of bubbles coming out of their butts... :D  they've changed into everyday and i forced errors on them both but they keep farting big bubbles...

I should've got a picture ...  here's the error log if it helps... I have all ep's and sp's to seasons all patched up..

Can someone please update Squinge's no autonomous reading hack please or at least look at it with the hack diff please? It is in the game, and since BV was installed (We have every exp and stuff packs), it is broken, they read whenever they want, before the whole lot could be filled with bookcases and they never picked up a book, now put one bookcase and all they do is read no matter the motive level bad or good.

Have requested it at InSim but no one has replied to it, okay it has only been 4 days.

Have tried the hackdiff, just not as awesome as you all I guess or maybe it doesn't like Vista, couldn't figure it out.

Do have the hack, because I am the one that requested it from Squinge. Not attaching it though yet until it is needed, not sure if that is allowed unless requested.

Thank You for any replies.

The toddler clothes hider is working fine for me, and as near as I can tell so are all the other clothes-hiding or recategorizing mods I have.  But I haven't tested extensively so it's possible I've missed something.  ETA: Shaklin's medicine cabinet scanned clean but I haven't had a chance to test it in the game yet, anybody else?

Squinge's noRelWarning: Broken.

It doesn't say it on a hack report, but I ran some error tests using the Oldies and whenever you try to learn a gesture or woohoo in the Suana that's what causes the jump bug there.

I've got LizLove's Waterbed of Love and its working fine so far. I haven't tested it extensively as I'm still trying to get all my other CC into the game without it crashing, but I'll be happy to report back later when I've had the chance to do so.

Thanks so much for this thread. I appreciate all the time and effort put in to it.

Motoki ?
Buyable Work and NPC Clothes
Maxis adult clothes for A YA & E
Ya_to_A_YA_Clothing_Maxis

Update: One or more of these are causing my game to crash. Every time I scrolled the clothes in buy mode the game would come to slow crawl and then crash to the desktop; the last time it even caused some weird graphic effects all over the screen. I took out all of the clothes/meshes I downloaded since BV but I was still getting the problem. Then I took Motoki's mods out and all was well. I put back in my BV downloaded clothes and all was well. My guess is since the game would crash once I reached a certain part in the clothes catalog that possibly the Buyable Work and NPC Clothes is the culprit in particular.

Just a question for clarification, Blackwiddow:  2 sims woohoo in a sauna - are they supposed to be naked at some point there?  Mine go in wearing towels and reappear after the steamy encounter still wearing towels.  Is this supposed to be the case? (For comparison, if they woohoo in bed, even if they start in undies, they are naked when they emerge, which kinda makes sense.)

Blackwiddow, first thank you very much for updating the nudist mod for BV.
I have a question (maybe a bug in the hack ?) : I'd like you to look into the "aske to get naked" part of the mod. I never took the time to report the problem I'm having when Crammyboy was still around, I know it's a bit late, and it is not your hack...
In my game, as long as I can remember the "ask to get naked" social seems to only work if the sim is set to always naked. If it is set on "depending on score" the sim always refuse to get naked, even if his score is way beyond the limit.
Is there a bug somewhere in the code, or is there some more requirement for acceptance that I'm not aware of ?
Thanks in advance,
Pioupiou.

This may depend on some situational thing.  I've never set my sims on "always get naked", but let the naked index number dictate.  I have had the "ask to get naked" interaction available for a number of sims.  Generally it seems to have to be when they want to be naked (haven't figured that out yet, but some of my sims seem to want to be naked at times and don't at other times.  They only seem to get the "ask to get naked" option when they feel 'inclined' themselves).  Or is this all in my imagination?

Anyhow, the option is there sometimes even if you don't set to "always get naked" in my game.

Sleepycat I'm actually updating Cboy's thread with a link to this one. When I'm finished I'll post a copy into thst thread as well. As for my own thread I'd have to clear it with Cboy before I even thought about it.

pioupiou I'll have a look at that to see if I can find any problem with that code. I personally haven't had a problem with this but than again I let the sims choose for themselves if they wish to be naked or not.

Where should we post errors?  Here, or in Cboy's thread?  I got an error playing with the latest version, just after my Sims arrived on a vacation lot.  I always play with the controller set to the default settings.  I didn't have any problems with the previous version.

I also have errors on comunity lots with the newest version of the nudist hack. One (Error: Reference to tree tree parameter when no parameter exists.) upon arrival and the others (Error: Object referred to must be a person.) each time a sim goes to enter in the hot spring thing. Cancelling the error seemed to work, but the error happened each and every time a sim went to the hot spring.

Update: One or more of these are causing my game to crash. Every time I scrolled the clothes in buy mode the game would come to slow crawl and then crash to the desktop; the last time it even caused some weird graphic effects all over the screen.

I'm testing these right now.  Somewhere in here is the one that was giving me fits about fried chicken, for some weirdass reason.  Buyable Work and NPC Clothes worked fine, and I'm loading the game again now to test the Maxis adult clothes for A YA & E.

Update: It is the Preg and Servo Change Appearance Pack.  This is what caused the problem about which the FoJ blew me off in OYBI.

I downloaded Squiggee's OFB_Customer Loyalty hack from the discontinued site. It is not listed  in any of the working or non-working hacks here. It is a bright yellow picture-like Star that lets's you adjust the customer loyalty of OFB owned business shoppers...you click on the picture to raise their individual satisfaction scores thus making the business more popular in the community and worth more at the time of sale.

I ran hack scanner and it was fine....but it does show up in the game. This is a hack I really like and hope maybe someone with more experience will give it a look-see or might know of a replacement hack I could use....

Good Simming,
Twink

Well, it's not really a hack/mod, in that it doesn't make global changes to the game; that's where real incompatibilities show up.  It's  a hacked/moded object that makes specific changes to a particular sim.  So long as a new EP/SP doesn't introduce an object with the same GUID, such objects are usually fine in later EPs. I have a couple of Squinge's hacked objects, and they're all still working ok in BV.

AlwaysAcceptInvite.package is Squinge
Therefore, I think it's safe to assume that AlwaysAcceptJoinGroup is as well, but I'll dig some more.

Thank you so much to all have done the work and updates here.  I've found I was missing the feedbaby mod so badly in my game.  Babies left on the floor in the kitchen after pucking on Mom or Dad and all.   :D  I had kept it in with BV at first but it was crashing.  Of course I just removed all of Squinges mods figuring they were all fried.   Now I am going to start putting them in from this list one at a time and see how it goes.  Could have been the version I had.......don't know.   Hoping that the Graveyard version is the one that works.

hmmm  now where was my search result page........LOL   Going to make this kid run away if it kills us both. :o

Oh and yeah!!  Cboys nudist going back in :)

HUGE THANKS EVERYONE

There's a Servo Change Appearance hack at InSIM (http://www.insimenator.net/showthread.php?t=63625) which works for Seasons.  There's still the issue of the appearance reverting upon visiting a community lot, but that happened with Squinge's mod too.

At least there's a chance it might see an update.

Alternatively you could get one of the energiser bunny mods in the same section and turns your Servos into wobowabbits.

Squinge's hack Pregnancy wear anything seems to be conflicting in my game. Does anyone know if there is a better one out there or something along the same lines that works "more awesome" then this one for BV?

There have been many reports about the room service not working. The bell hop pulls out the food from under the desk and it vanishes into thin air. I have this problem too. It seems to work maybe the first time you arrive in a hotel but then stop working after that. I have used All In One in the past, but I took it out before I installed BV. Room service worked fine at first and now does not and I do not have All in One in my folder. So I am not convinced that All in One is the culprit here. On other boards, that is a lot of discussion about this and I do not believe all of those posters use All in One.

Well in my case, now that I have BV, the All-in-1 does seem to cause the bellhop issue.  Hopefully someday someone will figure out why, I'm already missing the maids.  :-[

Edit:

BrainWave!  Got an idea... can you put a chef/waiter/greeter in a hotel?  Then you can go there and order food without dealing with that bellhop issue?

Yes; some of the existing hotels in the vacation hoods have a restaurant on the premises. But they sometimes have their own problem -- the other guests staying in the hotel will steal the food from your sims, sometimes as soon as the waiter puts the plate down, other times when your sim stops eating to talk to someone.  Very annoying.

Yup I see that now... the first and only hotel I've been to is the asian cheap one.

Ugh that stealing food was annoying enough downtown... but at least you can steal the guests food too LOL.

Can i ask a question to the awsome hackmasters? Well, i do. I am overly annoyed that the sims can't have instruments in the house without playing them auto. Grrr. I think i did download a hack here, and now i can't find it in my downloadfolder or here. I have searched, but i can't remember the name.

It is a hack that should stop sims play instruments auto when they had full skills in creativity. Can someone give me a link to that hack please? My sims are playing all the time untill they nearly starve to death or pee on themself.

I suggest putting the instruments in a room and using Authorized Personnel Only to autonomous-lock them so that they cannot be accessed autonomously.

You can find it over on MTS2, by Monique.

I also have a hack for that called "exit-skill-hack" (though it does have the interesting side effect of making some visitors restart raking the leaves rapidly over and over).

Yeah well, I sort of have the grand piano in the living room. It looks rather nice there, so I would like to keep it that way. I'll pop over to Monique's, thanks Joe. I didn't know she had a mod like that.

BTW, I have the same issues as the person who asked originally about this. Strangely enough, the piano (the upright) doesn't seem as inviting to the simmies as the grand piano.

Dizzy, that's an interesting side-effect. If it is constant, that might be great for looking and laughing. Or movie making, which I don't do.

Another side effect is that a sim might start painting and stop painting over and over. That one is a little less amusing.

Talk about realism. A sim with ADD.

I was really surprised that no one has made a decorative non-playable piano over at MTS2.  Well, I suppose as long as you don't download the fix needed to make this piano playable http://www.modthesims2.com/showthread.php?t=181755 it would work as a decoration only.

I'd like to see one that  was maybe originally a bed and only pets can sleep on it.  Or maybe just cats could since seeing a dog sleeping on a piano (or computer keyboard!!) isn't as funny.

My luck, I would forget it was purely decorative and not be able to figure out why future sims couldn't gain skill with it/ couldn't play on it  :D
