Title: Someone's stealin doodads! (invisible/borked glowyspinny overhead thingers)
Post by: Strangel on 2007 May 02, 10:00:03
Okay.. I've had this problem for a while and since the rest of the graphics are running just fine, I'm beginning to wonder where the problem lies.

...some of my doodads are missing.

See, when Chedder got his various badges, the doodad (floatybadge) never appeared over his head. When the wife's character taught her daughter how to walk (different hood) she got the blue bits of a half-transparent pair of booties. No bottoms, no laces. I seem to see a lot of woohoo doodads without eyes, as well. They're either entirely purple, or they're purple with blank whites for the eyes.

doodads are delicious. As are thingamajigs and whatchamacallits.

in other news, sounds like a borked graphical config file somewhere, but I'm not awesome, so don't quote me on that.

It could be as simple as a corrupt objects.package.
A lot of the PNGs are in the objects package.

How long has this been happening? Like, since you installed seasons, or updated a graphics driver, or entirely reinstalled your game removing all documents, anything like that?
Try putting the shaders cheat in your startup file.

It seemed to start up slowly. At first, I only saw an occasional problem, now it's looking more and more borked. lol
I don't remember when I first noticed something was up, but if you lot think fixing the object package will fix it, I'll try that. This was definitely going on pre-seasons and we tried turning on the shaders so I could see the fish, no dice.
