Title: Lag problem with locked doors and APO
Post by: Lord Darcy on 2007 April 28, 16:56:58
Anyone noticed the lag when Sims are attempting to use objects in the locked rooms? This lag happens whenever Sims queue the action and drop it. Thanks to noroutefail Sims don't throw tantrums, but this lag is almost equally annoying. It does not matter whether the room is locked with default OFB door lock or APO. Sims just stand behind the locked door and try to use objects repeatedly, causing the lag over and over. I have tested with only Awesome hacks loaded, but the lag wouldn't go away.

Is there any way to remove this annoying lag?

I haven't noticed any specific causing of lag, but certain configurations of room locking can generate additional load. Try shifclicking on APO and hitting "Set Route Blocks", this may reduce the number of failed attempts to use inaccessible objects.

Thanks for the reply. The lag tends to be more noticeable in large lots. I locked my greenhouse and orchard with APO to keep gardeners off my plants while building gardening skill. When I spotted the gardener standing around outside the greenhouse causing lag, I tried that "Set Route Blocks" menu. The gardener said he finished for the day and left immediately.

My question is, do I need to use this "Set Route Blocks" function everytime someone attempts to pass locked doors?

I'm pretty sure that's a 'set and forget' -- you should only have to set it once.
