The menu options to move stuff around between your inventory and the bowl are incredible.  Beats hell out of using the dialog.

There are options to "make juice" and "serve juice" but all that happens is that the Sim removes the necessary ingredients from the bowl and places them in his inventory.   Is this intentional, or was the Sim intended to either magically produce juice without the juicer, or go to the juicer automatically and work from there?

At the risk of getting my lips ripped off, what are we supposed to look for?  Is this a new object in buy mode or is this just added functionality to the existing juicer?  Or am I missing this completely?  :)  I hate that dialog, too!

Look from the fruitbowl in misc. misc. Should cost about a 1?

Found it.  It's in Misc - All (infinity sign).

Just a couple observations:

I chose Store Everything..Then I checked my Sims inventory and he still has produce.  Looks like there's a max of 500 (and I've maxed it out to 500).  Could that be because I have JFade's juicer hack that allows for more stock?  Should it be infinite?

Also, it doesn't add any boots.  My Sim has 8 boots and it shows that 0 were stocked in the fruitbowl and they're still in his inventory.

Just an idea:

It would also be cool if someone could make an Igloo cooler/ice chest that you could store your fish in.  Same concept as the fruitbowl one, but for fish.

JFade's juicer only allows 300 items.  And if you have more than 500 items in your inventory, only the first 500 will be stored.  I've seen boots stored without problems.

Nah, my hack is a global one, this is a standalone object.

And as far as the igloo thing, I'm working on a pantry that will do that. Should be done soon.  :)

DOH!  Sorry, that was a brain fart on my part.  :)  I guess I didn't have enough coffee in me when I wrote that.

Ooh, I've heard about some pantry object that was part of Sims 1.  I've been wanting something like that for Sims 2.  It was on my own personal request list.  I can't wait to try it out, Jfade!  (An unlimited inventory-type object for both fish and produce is what I've been looking for.)

JFade's juicer only allows 300 items.  And if you have more than 500 items in your inventory, only the first 500 will be stored.  I've seen boots stored without problems.

I guess I'll buy another fruitbowl and stock it again with everything.  I wonder why it didn't take any boots when it took some from each type of produce.

You can also buy the bowl under the garden plot section in build mode.

Am I being thick?  I can't seem to get it to satisfy my weird Nessly urges of being able to sell all produce from the plant.

500 is the max. Increasing the limit beyond that risks overflow issues. Eggplants are $33, which means if you stored 1000 eggplants, the value of the bowl would be $33K, which would exceed the maximum integer size of the game, causing it to wrap around and go negative. Bad.

Also, it doesn't add any boots.  My Sim has 8 boots and it shows that 0 were stocked in the fruitbowl and they're still in his inventory.
Boots will store, you just maxed out.

I am also wondering why the bowl has menu options to make and serve juice, but all it does it put the produce back into inventory.

If this object is supposed to reduce clicking, why doesn't it actually make the juice?

Title: Re: Fruitbowl of Awesomeness: Death To All Nesses Edition
Post by: J. M. Pescado on 2007 April 22, 11:57:26
Because it is not a juicer. The "Serve Juice" option dispenses the necessary ingredients into your inventory. You can then dispense multiple times to have multiple servings in your inventory, which could then, say, store in another bowl with "Store All" and then tag it for sale and sell fruits in juice-shaped servings, or you could actually put in the juicer and make juice, or whatever.

I didn't know this was an option. I didn't see it in the RTFM. Now I have to have this mod. It drives me crazy filling the juicer one click at a time! Combined with Jfade's juicer, I should be a happier person.  I've become a juice-a-holic. Is there a 12 step for that?

Title: Re: Fruitbowl of Awesomeness: Death To All Nesses Edition
Post by: J. M. Pescado on 2007 April 22, 16:29:08
I'm not sure that's the sort of thing you seek, but it will speed up stocking the juicer in that it takes the guesswork and measurement out of filling it.

Title: Re: Fruitbowl of Awesomeness: Death To All Nesses Edition
Post by: purplehaze on 2007 April 22, 16:47:48
Yes, that is exactly what I seek.  ;)  Between the two mods, it should make my life a lot easier. Thanks again. Baaaaaah.
ETA: this does exactly what I want it to do. I can use the make juice option to prepackage the doses and then stock  the juicer. No more guesswork. I also adore the inventory feature. I now have 3 of these little babies on a lot. Filled to the brim. I am putting one of them in my teen's inventory to take to Uni. Just another benefit I will probably frequently use.

Dunno why this happened or how to help, but I had a lot of trouble with this thing.

I put this on my tester sim's lot. (tiny 1x2 lot with a one-room house, a car, kitchen items and Monique's hacked computer. Nothing else.) Nothing changed. Then I used the computer's "buy online" options to cheat and get me some produce for testing. Bought 10 of each kind of produce. The lot suddenly played very slowly. I clicked "store all" on the fruit basket, and when the sim got the the game froze for roughly 30-40 seconds, then the "putting stuff in the basket" animation went off and everything was fine, even the slowdown from before was gone. Went to retrieve my produce, same lockdown for about half a minute, then the slowdown returned. Deleted the produce in inventory and no slowdown. Bought more produce (only 30, 10 each of 3 kinds), and there was slowdown but not as bad. Deleted the fruit bowl and the slowdown was gone.

I really would like to use this but as it is I can't. :(

I'd be happy to recreate the problem, but I've never made an error log, so someone would have to give me the "for dummies" steps to doing so.

I'd say, it's not the fruitbowl causing you trouble, but the combination of fruitbowl + computer. Have you tried without the computer already?

Yes, the bowl poofs if you sell all.

I think I may have pulled a Ness.  When sim A goes to take out lets say all oranges from the fruitbowl and already has oranges in her inventory her inventory is not updated and the oranges that were in the bowl have magically disapeared.  I dunno if this is because I was too quick on checking inventory after the pulling out of stocks or it's a bug/conflict.

Title: Re: Fruitbowl of Awesomeness: Death To All Nesses Edition

Close SimPE before starting your game, or else the inventory will always fail to change.

..but I don't use SimPe I am too unawesome to use the program and each time I do I ensure a BFBOMP (big fiery ball of massive proportions)  Shall i reproduce the event and try getting a log?  I dunno if it will do anything as it doesn't seem to cause an error or a jump in my sim but certainly worth a shot if you are willing to take a look at it.

Unable to reproduce issue. Verify that you are using the current version, that the fruitbowl is not illegally placed on a shelf or with move_objects, and is accessible in the manner of a juicer.

Death to all Nesses.

I know this is over thirty days old, and I'm risking death and/or dismemberment, but I cannot figure out the fruitbowl to save my life.

I click on it and get one option, store.  I store a bunch of produce.  I click again.  I get one option, store.  I try left clicking and holding down shift.    I get one option, store.  I try right clicking.   I get one option, store.

So, figuring I must need to go to a deeper menu, I click on store.

I have a choice of all the different produce items, everything, and dialog.  I try dialog, my Sim has a bubble with a cooler above her head.  That fades, and no other options, she walks away.

Has my produce disappeared to the great farm in the sky?

BTW, I did try my juicer and it showed me the four oranges and two lemons I already had in there.

Awesomeness :) Only thing i can think of to make it better is the make/serve options direct the sim to go to the nearest juicer and auto-stock/make the juice.... I hate the juicer's horrid non-awesome laggy and clunky dialog >.< JFade's mod at least makes checking what is stocked in it more tolerable....

Maybe a mod for the juicer to allow similar nice stocking functions? :) (assuming you don't want to mess with this one for the auto juicing... if you do you could always change the current option to 'get enough for...' or something... just an idea :))

just verifying that this is a feature:

I can't seem to set my fruitbowls for sale, but when I tried it had nothing in it. I had to go do something else before I finished testing, but am I only allowed to set fruitbowls with fruit in them for OFB sale? Or am I being retarded with my for-sale clicking?

Selling the fruitbowls empty kinda gives them an assessed value of $0, so you can't really sell that.

I'm having problems selling all of the contents of my fruit bowl. It generates an error message as attached. I have tried with both large amounts of veggies and just a small amount but I can't sell either way.

I have the latest version dated 29 Jun 2007 (uploaded 30 Jun 2007)

So I am having issues with this since installing FT its giving no options what so ever. Please help. Thank You

Three possibilities:

1) Old version
2) Conflicting non-awesomeware
3) Neither is anything stored in the fruitbowl nor do your sims have anything in their inventory that can be stored -> no option available

My fruitbowl works as intended with FT.

Also, are you certain you're clicking the CC fruitbowl? I was about to place a Fruitbowl of Awesomeness the other day when I realized I hadn't redownloaded it, but had found the statue from which it was cloned XD

yes I am positive that I have the right fruit bowl and I have all the same hacks that I did before FT and even before I put any other non awesome hacks in it didn't work. Also I re-downloaded all awesome hacks fresh to put into FT.

Did you remember that the fruitbowl is in the objects directory (http://moreawesomethanyou.com/ffs/index.php?dir=ft%2Fobjects%2F), not the hacks directory (http://moreawesomethanyou.com/ffs/index.php?dir=ft%2Fhacks%2F)?  It's not part of the DC either.

Title: Re: Fruitbowl of Awesomeness: Death To All Nesses Edition
Post by: sloppyhousewife on 2008 March 15, 08:19:01
Right, that's the 4th possibility - check if you really do have the fruitbowl. Reminds me of when I had TJ's picture based visitor controller and forgot to put it back into the game after a new EP came out. The pictures were still on the lot, of course, but all I could do with them was "View" because they converted back to the Lady in Red.

Post by: jsalemi on 2008 March 15, 21:53:02
DC = Director's Cut, aka the moreawesomethanyou.zip.  There are a couple of hacks that don't appear in there because they're EP-specific, or modify your game in a way you may not want (i.e., zombieapoc).  None of the objects go in there either.  So if you just d/l the DC, you won't have everything.

Title: Re: Fruitbowl of Awesomeness: Death To All Nesses Edition
Post by: Kyna on 2008 March 16, 00:07:53
Fallenangel what I meant was:

If you just downloaded the director's cut or just downloaded hacks from the hacks directory, then you may not have the fruitbowl hack in your game.  It is an object, and won't be found in the director's cut or the hacks directory on this site.  It can be found in the objects directory on this site - see the link in my previous post.

When you updated your hacks for Free Time, did you check the objects directory on this site for the Pescado hacks you use that are object-based?

Sorry for resurrecting this thread but I've got a question/request for this object.
I really hate that annoying dialog for storing produce in the Juicer cause it's so much micro-managed.
Just wanted to know/request three things:
1. Would it be possible for an object (like the fruit bowl) to manipulate the way another object (like the juicer) works at in-game-time when placed in game (for example: in the same room/lot) - so that if the fruit bowl is not placed the juicer would behave as always?
2. Would it be possible to let the juicer handle produce like the fridge handles fish - making a fish meal with fish in inventory as ingredient - making juice with produce in inventory as ingredient? That would get rid of the need of that damn dialog
3. If the above two were possible - would it be possible to combine them and bring out a new version of the so awesome fruit bowl?

I would find out and do it myself but - speaking for me - modding Sims 2 (understanding the code showed by Sim PE) is much harder then modding Oblivion/FO3.

I'm curiously looking forward to any reply.

Ah yes - sorry for my bad English - if it's hard to understand I would be pleased to try and explain again.

This is POSSIBLE, but without very specific details of what you wanted EXACTLY, it is unclear as to how implementation would proceed. Since apparently you're the only one who knows what exactly you want, it seems that doing this is up to you.

Title: Re: Fruitbowl of Awesomeness: Death To All Nesses Edition
Post by: spammer on 2009 January 30, 03:37:25
Well actually I wanted to ask you if you could add this feature to your awesome fruitbowl (or maybe a new/optional object - for those who are not interested in the new feature?)

Example:
You place that awesome fruitbowl somewhere in the kitchen and at runtime the fruitbowl will modify/manipulate all available juicers in the kitchen (or specific area?)
to additionally use fruits/veggies/boots from the inventory of the active sim (possibly business owner also?) to make juice.

I hope this explanation is better. If not I'll give it another try.

Now that I think about it... wouldn't it be less work to create just a global hack which does the job...?

Looking forward to your reply.

One question about selling fruits in bulk: Say, I want to sell differents kinds of packages (I intend to offer eggplants and apples as well as veggie juice packages). What about restocking? Will the restockers be able to tell them apart?

Should. It's been awhile, but I believe that contingency is covered and the fruitbowls will actually restock themselves even from loose fruit or superbowls.
