Title: Juicer Tweaks - Recipe Book, Stocked Produce Count, and More! - Updated
Post by: jfade on 2007 March 13, 03:07:36
All the debate about the recipes for juice and everything was driving me nuts, so I finally decided to end it all by looking at the game code and figuring out the REAL recipes along with some other little features for the juicer. Now you can simply click the juicer and choose Check Recipe For.../[Juice Name] and you will be given an accurate recipe for the juice along with what it does. You can also choose Check Current Stock and you will get a detailed report of all the amounts of various produce you have stored in your juicer. And last, but not least, the juicer now holds up to 300 items instead of the Maxian default of 50.

Enjoy! :)

NOTE: All recipe values are from a single glass. To calculate the recipes for serving the juice, multiply the value of each ingredient by six.

UPDATE: Recipe for pepper punch now shows up.

Handy? This is brilliant. Especially the larger storage, so you can make any recipe at any time. Thanks jfade!

ROFL, I love the tube kitten picture. I actually have that saved in a folder on my desktop along with about 50 other cat pictures that I've been waiting for the right time to use, but anyhow I digress. :P

Thanks for the thank yous! :)

Huzzah!!!  This is just too good!  Anything that assists the memory and doesn't require post-its on the monitor!!!  I applaud your on going interest in the game and your genuinely clever additions that help make things easier and more fun.  You are a credit to this gaming community.

Much obliged.

Fantastic!  I have them all written down, but it's difficult to see in the early hours when the light is off, plus I have to figure out my 'writing' so this is going to be really useful. I love the idea of more room too!

Is there any possible chance the juicer can be made to hold extremely large amounts safely?   Since we don't have a 'storage device' I was wondering if someone could make the juicer into one instead, it does have the option to 'remove' produce after all.

Hey. The Cat Macro is an ancient and honorable MATY tradition!

Now that is cute and funny at the same time

Thanks Jfade
While Cat Macros are an ancient and honorable tradition, please do not quote the cat macros.

Also one of the maxiods gave out the proper recipies as well.  Apparently they changed it after prima went to press.

When have I ever removed images from someone's post (apart from when the image has been quoted)? I'm actually curious, I can't remember a single time when I've removed an image from the base post.

Anyway,

Sorry, Venusy! I wrote that because I see you as one of the diligent-type people around here. I was trying to acknowledge that it's a big ass jpeg, and I have never seen you zip out an image. Now that I know what the protocol is, I promise not to abuse it.  ;D

Well, you could, in theory, set the limit to whatever the heck you wanted (within reason of course) but I wouldn't recommend it on the off chance that the juicer mysteriously errors and must be reset at some point, because that MAY (not saying it will :P ) empty the juicer out. I'd have to try that to verify though. In the event that you do wish to change this though, open the hack in SimPE and change the value of the first item in the BCON.

Well, I'm not positive if the juice made always works no matter what or if the juice only has the effect if it's made with "mouthwatering" produce. The juicer does, however, store the amount of each level of each type of produce in attributes (semi-attributes IIRC), so I could adjust the dialog to show how much of each type you have as well. Not sure if I should bother though if it doesn't make a difference. I'll do some research/testing. :)

Very useful!

Baah very much.  :-*

Could you make something similar for the fridge, ie how much stock in it?

Title: Re: Juicer Tweaks - Recipe Book, Stocked Produce Count, and More!
Post by: J. M. Pescado on 2007 March 14, 10:20:30
Fridges already display this value when a sim checks it. Stocking a fridge with food is not a reversible process and you cannot retrieve your items afterwards.

Well, I just used the Lot Debugger to Force Errors on all after putting a boot in the juicer,  (The option to make Pureed Boot came up with only one in there?) checked the stock after and the boot was still there.  Then I tried manually forcing an error on the juicer twice, and though the graphics show it as empty, the boot is in fact still in there according to the stock.

So I might actually be mad enough to try that SimPe monster again.  What's the worst that can happen?  A reinstall right?  I must be off my head!  ;D

**Edit** I think I did it, that's my first ever thing done with SimPe, last time I borked everything up heh.  It says it will hold 10,000 items now, so all I need to to is play with it a bit and see what happens I suppose.  Thanks so much Jfade!

This is a very useful tool, but when I tried it out in-game, I noticed 'Pepper Punch' was missing from the recipe list.  ??? Is this because Pepper Punch doesn't have any effects?

I noticed that Pepper Punch is missing too - I THINK it gives an energy boost?

jfade? is it time for  v 1.2?

Pepper punch does give an energy boost - much bigger than espresso when I tried it.  I love having the recipes in-game and more storage. Thanks Jfade.

I remember adding pepper punch to the STR#, but maybe I didn't let the test tree loop far enough to pick it up if it's the last one in the list. I'll check into it and fix it when I can. :)

EDIT: All fixed, new shiny version in first post. :)

Ummmm... Well:

1) Necromancy is bad, mkay?
2) That hack is not compatible with this hack. Basically, we both modify the exact same things and one is going to override the other. Not to mention that mine is better than that other one for several reasons, including, but not limited to:

  • I have a recipe book, they don't.
  • My limit is actually sane, anything over a couple hundred items is going to cause MASSIVE lag and so having a limit of 20,000 (AKA infinity, apparently) is just not a good idea.
  • My "Check Juicer Content" report is more detailed.

If you have both hacks installed the functions from my hack here are actually working, then that means that mine is overriding theirs and you haven't noticed because mine is clearly better and no one sane will accumulate that many items in one juicer. :P

I can't find your policy anywhere, so I apologize in advance if you are against your work being edited. I've posted a juicer enabled for children mod over on MTS, but I imagine a lot of people will be using your version which conflicts with mine.

I've edited your version, because it's what I personally use and what I imagine a lot of people use. However, it felt very wrong to share it on MTS so I'll add a link here instead
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/93024711/djsjuicertweaksGummiluttEditChildrenEnabled.zip

If you don't approve of your work being edited, let me know and I'll remove it right away. (I don't read MATY-forums, so I'd highly recommend PMing me on MTS, user gummilutt)
