Title: Another Dumb Question
Post by: Jelenedra on 2007 February 04, 13:07:45
There is a cheat to change a lot type from community to residental and then back again isn't there?

I made a community lot for a music video I made, then realized I should've had it residental to make the filming easier.

changeLotZoning [residential | community | greek | dorm | secretsociety]: changes the zoning type of the lot. Before rezoning a lot using this cheat, make sure there are no Sims currently living in the lot. To use this cheat, enter the lot that you would like to rezone, and then enter the cheat, choosing one of these zoning options.

So when I want to switch it back to a community lot, I need to move all the sims out first?

Sweet. I can manage that.  8)

You'll need something like Carrigon's collection of weird stuff - think that's the one - so as to be able to put a letterbox and trashcan in a residential lot, vice versa if you're shifting the lot TO community you'll need a community phone, don't think the wastebasket is required.

My collections of stuff like that no longer work with Pets.  Weird stuff, buyable career rewards, aspiration rewards, mailbox/dustbin collection.  I have not yet worked out why.

Well, they changed the way collections work, so anything that's not normally buyable will no longer work in a collection like that.

I'm told though, even though I haven't verified it myself, (and it may have changed with the patch) if you go into build mode first, then click the collections thing, it'll let you buy the non-buyable stuff, so you may want to try that.

I have the new odd-stuff collections and they only work in build-mode/collections.

Yeah, okay it must be the lack of mailbox/trashcan then that caused my problem:

Did the cheat, was able to move the sims in, but loading the lot just brought up the buy/build modes.

With OFB I should just be able to have the sims purchase the lot and start a business, right?

I want to be able to access buy/build mode while controlling my sims.

If you want to access Build/Buy mode while visiting community lots, get the hack (on MTS2) that enables this. It's great and I have been using it since its original release. It's by cathair2005.

I use that hack too - it makes life much simpler.

Well, that's odd because I thought that's what I did (following the same advice from elsewhere).  Maybe I'll try it again.  THe things in those collections are not things I use all that often.
