Title: Numenor's Scriptorium
Post by: croiduire on 2006 December 25, 13:21:56
Has anyone here used Numenor's Scriptorium? I've hesitated to try it because to me it seemed to add another layer of "things that can go wrong" to what has always been a pretty straightforward idiot-proof operation (Go to C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\The Sims 2\TSData\Res\Catalog\Scripts, open a text file, copy, paste...?) However, most new stairs uploads use it now. Does it actually work in a game without OfB or Pets?

(Please don't suggest I ask on Mod the Sims. I considered it, but I don't believe I'd get an objective response.)

it's just a Shortcut way to add the relevant scripts to items such as stairs, walls foundations and the like.
it prevents user error when manually editing scripts
I've been using it without any problems (well not that i've noticed anyway)
i am not certain of its perceived awesomeness however
and i think it works without necessarily having any EPs...you'd need to check the blurb from Numenor

The Scriptorum is pretty simple.

It simply creates subdirectories for each type of build mode item (fireplaces, stairs, fences) and adds a line to each script file to include all items from the relevant subdirectory.

If you don't want to use the Scriptorum, you can simply open up the text file provided and copy the provided text, then open the appropriate script file and paste it in.

Just remember to make back ups of the files changed. Remember yuou should probably put the original files/the backups backin before you start to load a new EP. Don't remember which EP it was but changed files caused load problems--easier to be safe than sorry later.

Works well and is very simple - simpler even than all the cutting and pasting. Makes taking stuff out easier too. Everyone's a winner... :)
