Suggest Outfit Hack (v1b) for TS2PETSp0 + OFB
Made by: Flying Fish Systems (Doctor Boris)

Special Thanks To:
Hobbsee the Pencilneck

Congratulations to: Draklixa!

INSTRUCTIONS:
Place in your MYDOCU~1\EAGAME~1\THESIM~1\DOWNLO~1 directory.

FEATURES:
Clumsy hack fixing the inability to suggest outfits to store patrons. After
the first normal plan dialog (necessary to set the token), a second pair
of dialogs similar to the Clothing Tool will appear, where you must re-select
the outfit you want the target to wear, and then choose it again out of the
"wardrobe" dialog to set it (hence Clumsy Hack). He will then wear that outfit
upon checking out as before (possibly earlier, if something causes him to
change or you give him a mutilation as well).

COMPATIBILITY:
Compatible with all FFS Hacks. Tested for TS2PETSp0. Only needed if both OFB
AND Pets are installed. For TS2PETSp0 only (at least until EA doesn't fix it).

SIDE EFFECTS:
May cause computer damage, incontinence, explosion of user's head, coma, death,
and/or halitosis.

Do you want feedback for experimental hacks? or is this strictly "Like it or Leave it"?

Let me know if it doesn't work or blows up your game, obviously. However, you were warned. It's experimental for a reason. It worked when when we tested it, but who knows what could happen in your game?

It did not blow up my game.

But I don't think it is working as you intended. After 3 tries (quick in a row) I was able to buy clothes for Marylena, but after 5 tries (quick in a row) I was still unsucessful in getting Melissa to do more than ooh at how my sim can flourish at the clothes rack.

Also I think it may be interferring with noplayableshoppers as my sales people were helping such customers as Dustin Broke and the Pleasant sisters, plus several others.

Unrelated problem. If all you're doing is flourishing, you're not even getting to what the hack touches. You know you've hit that point when you "Suggest outfit" and get dialog asking what to suggest. If you just flourish, nothing has happened. The code doesn't take effect until the browsing sim fills his buy bar.

As I remember, pre-Pets I simply clicked on the clothes, chose, Suggest outfit for... and picked someone. They obediently walked into the store and bought the clothes I picked for them. But I will allow that it has been a long time since I used that feature. Do we now need to time the "Suggest outfit..." for when the Sim is just about to buy anything in the store?

What I did last night was simply click on the clothes and Suggest outfit for... Marylena. My sim went and got Marylena and showed her the amazing clothes rack. Marylena oohed and clapped. Then I clicked "Suggest outfit" again and received the same response. On the third Suggest outfit I had the opportunity to pick out an outfit for Marylena. After a temporary game freeze I had the opportunity to buy an outfit for her. (Suddenly I do not remember if I had to click on her and suggest an outfit for a 4th time; it seems like I should have. I'll test that again in a little while.) Anyway it was the third try that started things rolling along.

I did the exact same thing for Melissa, but we never got to the clothes buying bit.

So, was Marylena a fluke that should not have happened because she wasn't interested in buying anything right then?

In addition to having playable shoppers there also seems to be an inordinate amount of pranking going on at the businesses. That could be the bad luck of having too many outgoing/playful people around at one time, but I thought I would mention it just in case it is pertinent.

Both Squinge and Monique have hacks to reduce or eliminate that stupid behavior on business lots.

Thanks for the suggestion, jsalemi,  but I already have the awesome noplayableshoppers and antiprank hacks. I don't believe that I need more hacks on this same theme. I mentioned that they seem to not be working with this experimental fix in place only because it is possible that this information may be useful.

It works fine. No Probs like V described seen.
But i have found another prob caused by broken MaxisEA code.
My Business Owner is named Adam got a Townie named Adam also. Made the suggest Outfit while he has a Goophy like at this time. My Owner tried to suggest himsef a Outfit before it vanished. Same for his Wife she could only suggest her Husband not the Townie.

That sounds unrelated. And weird.

I have not meant its related but it is there. Both Sims have the surename Adam suggest Outfit hit on the Owner and no option for the Customer. But i think the Owner should be excluded only the Customer should be visible for suggest.

How do you know he wasn't? They both had the same name, right?

V - Here is how "suggest outfit" usually works.  You chose the action.  Your sim leads the customer to the rack and does the flourish.  After a moment the customer wanders off, or they pop up a buy bar.  After the buy bar fills, the game freezes until the chose an outfit screen appears.

After your sim shows them the clothing rack, customers may wander off because they don't want to buy.  More often, they wander off because another sim is browsing that rack.  It's very common to click on an available rack, then have another customer start browsing it before the "suggest" process can finish.

Yes both have the same name but only one Adam shows in suggest piemenue.
And if i try the name it only gets the Owner not the Townie.
Its an old OFB Bug if i remember right there was an nonawesome fix out for.
Fakt is if you have two Sims with the same name only one name shows up in businessmenues.

There is a little typo in the title of this thread. I think you meant to type "Outfit" and not "Oufit"  ;)

Thanks for the hack, by the way..

It has now been fixed. The title used to say "Suggest Oufit Fix".

You missed the point of my post. The point was to cover up the fact that there had ever been a typo, after I fixed it.

I once employed 2 Andys. When I trie to give them assignments with BRY, I got only 1 Andy, and it wasn't possible to tell which until I assigned them. Stupid bug.

Any news on the Seasonability of this hack? It's not in the Seasons directory, so it's banned from my game at the moment...

Title: Re: Suggest Outfit Fix *EXPERIMENTAL*

If Seasons includes the fix from the Pets patch (or  you installed the Pets patch), you don't need this.  Try doing "Suggest Outfit" without the hack.  If it works, it's not needed.

Indeed. The awsomeness of Pescado is truly remarkable. Now it is not even necessary to install the hack, mere mention of it is enough to fix the problem!  ;)

(Thanks!)
