Title: GUID Registry
Post by: lovemysims on 2006 November 23, 05:23:16
I wanted to make two or three custom careers for my use only- do I still need to register the guid in Simpe. I am very new to this and this is my first career attempt.
Thanks in advance.

The GUID is a sort of unique ID and is needed if you want the object (career, in your case) don't overwrite others. If you make a career without changing its GUID, the new career will substitute the original, in game; if you assign it another, unique, GUID, instead, that new career will not have interference with the others.

So, it's not much about personal use or not, but mainly about if you want your product will be a replacement or an add-on to the game.

If you're not going to share with anyone else, you can just make up your own GUID, but it's easier to just register if you're not familiar with hex.

Registering should also ensure that other people's stuff won't overwrite yours, so if you use other hacks/careers/object/etc. it's probably a good idea.
