Title: Obsolete property states, how do I get rid of them?
Post by: Cyron on 2006 November 12, 00:23:52
Hi,
is there any way to get rid of obsolete property states of certain ground squares?
The following happened: My wife had Numenor's race car set (Maxis lost&found) in her game and made a kids room with those objects. Later she decided to delete the whole set from the game. Now that she is about to place new objects into that room she encountered a weird effect. Whenever she wants to place any object on a certain square, it rotates 45 degrees and the offset moves from the center to the edge. The object is halfway through the wall that way. I assume there's still some obsolete property value with that certain square. How can we get rid of this?

Try Pescado's stuck object remover.

Thanks, I'll try that.  :)

I would delete the room (walls and floors, until I have a free space for build), and build it again the usual way. Don't forget to take off the roof before the deletion, and put it back after the build.

The stuck object remover on the effected tiles is a much simpler, easier and quicker solution, Gali.

Gali likes to do it the hard way. :)

I just think it's strange that someone who likes to cheat so outrageously makes other things so difficult!

The only time the stuck object remover didn't fix my problem was when I used Inge's teleporter shrub to move in a dormie, and her furniture got stuck in "invisible dormie mode" and rendered useless.  Not even the stuck object remover could see them.

Lol, ness - strange enough, but I cheat only in money and moods. I even don't have many awesome hacks JMP made, I like to find a solution in the traditional way. In my download folder I have about 20 hacks, including TJ's and Crammyboy.

I like to observe my sims, their needs, and their way of living. It's very interesting too.

On the contrary - I am very small cheater...:).

Sorry guys the stuck object remover didn't fix the problem. Even placing the remover on the surrounding tiles couldn't fix it. We now try to rebuild the room (including the roof). I'll report back later.
EDIT: Rebuilding the room was useless.   :(
We did some little research:
1. There has been a wall mirror before the set was deleted.
2. Endtables can be placed as usual. All other objects which have a certain side for access (like kitchen counter) are misplaced.

Cyron, what happens if you try to put the objects with "moveobjects on" activated?

When this happens, just force an error on the dorm door to the room. That will reset the room and make the furniture visible again.

Having the dormie unclaim and then reclaim the door also works, which is how I've been dealing with it...  never thought to force an error.

Cyron, I'm wondering if returning the set to the game temporarily may do anything?  I wonder if that would give you the ability to delete the objects as normal, then you can safely remove the objects from the game again.  Otherwise, it looks like the lot may be completely hosed.

Hi ness,
my wife removed the set completely from the harddrive and from any archive. She don't feels like downloading it again because she is rather frustrated after so many trials.   :-X
What the heck, it's not my problem. All I can say is, sorry for your inconvenience.  :)

I tried that actually.  It didn't work.
I'll try forcing error on the door if it happens again.

ah...  even more stuck than that!  Had  that a few times as well, and in that case, the only thing that helped was exiting and reloading the lot.  Forcing errors did nothing, stuck object removers did nothing, but exiting and reloading did.
