Title: Fully furnished Maxis Item Only house
Post by: gethane on 2006 September 03, 15:27:00
Swanson House was created and playtested during the 10 kid challenge on a 3x3 lot. (Maxis site says my lot is 4x2. I thought it was 3x3 but I don't recall for sure). There is room for your career and aspiration rewards (basement for energizers and mechanical looking rewards and left side of the house for obstacle course/punching bag/golf rewards). Tables near skilling items for your thinking caps. Space for 6 in twin beds, space for 2 in cribs, and 1 double bed. All landscaping requiring gardening is accessible and can be completed by the gardener by early afternoon. There is a permanent "birthday cake table" in the dining room near the basment stairs. Kids come home from school and dump their homework in that back area too because the first desk purchased was the one off the dining area. Right side of the house, back near the pond, would make a lovely location for a wedding arch.

I'm downloading anyway.  I'm a sucker for furnished houses, can't be bothered doing my own thing.  Plus it is a nice house.   :P

It's really pretty.

How did you get the driveway to go on the right?

I knew I wanted it on the right side, so I just placed it as far to the right as I could before building the house. The only reason you don't see many on the right is you have to leave several squares of room (I assume for the car to appear, then turn into the driveway).

Thanks for the compliments!

I downloaded this house yesterday. I just looked at it in game. Its really nice. I'll have to put a family in it and see how it plays. I'm one of those set-in-their-ways players who latches onto a specific houseplan and just reuses it over and over. I'm really trying to break that habit. So thanks for giving me another incentive.

Do you have OFB installed?

Yes, I have ofb installed. I'm pretty sure this house requires all three expansions (though none of the stuff packs.)

I see at least one item from each of the expansions in the screenshot, so it definately needs all three.

Thanks. I updated my site to reflect that (took out the probably).

This looks nifty. I may download it tonight if I remember. Not that I need any more houses in my neighborhood. :)

Looks a very well-equipped house for such a small lot and I have downloaded it.  Have to say it was a sheer pleasure to do so after all the stuff I had to wait ages to download from MTS2 earlier.  It was taking forever to just start the downloads and I managed to download this one in about 5 seconds, which is pretty good going for 1.61MB.  Who hosts your site?  I might just take a look at their prices ...

Dreamhost.
http://www.dreamhost.com/

We've been with them for over a year and are pretty happy with them. Very reliable and we're happy with the price (me and dh share an account, two different domains). My dh says they are great except for some database stuff. Everyone once in a while his site is down and its due to some database issues. This is his site: http://webqueue.net/ As you can see, its a lot more robust than my wee pages :). I am very pleased with it for what I do, however, which is serve pictures of my babes and sims pics and files :)

How much does the lot cost? I have a weird rule in my game of only buying lots under 20,000 simoleons [starter level prices]. It gets really tough to stick to that, but I don't like cheating! [at least with the money cheat]

You don't keep a few expensive homes around for the sims who make it big?

I think its around 121K, however, I did have people living in it so that's its depreciated value. It's probably worth closer to 200K.

I also have a bad habit of getting bored with families and starting new ones. haha. I'm trying to get out of that by giving myself challenges.

I had to log in just to compliment you on this house. It's really beautiful, and I especially like that it's on a very small lot, so my poor computer will grump less when I play it.
