Nice new forum (i.e. Playsets and Toys). I'll be downloading this one. Hats off to Nectere-type people, as well.

Wonderful.  The table could look like a bale of hay and I'd still use it.  I am so sick and tired of having to cancel my Sims' action to put the caps on the counter so that they won't whine and cry at me later that they can't make their stupid omlettes because the counter is all full.  I like that it takes asp points, too.  Most of my Sims have way too many of those.

unless they have changed that I am not aware of they look like this and are found in end tables: (except the head in hands has a stone plate under the arms instead of wooden.)

I like the one with the noodlesoother better than the other. Are they interchangeable as to what hat goes on what table?

Title: Re: Hat Stands For Thinking Caps & Noodlesoothers
Post by: J. M. Pescado on 2006 August 23, 00:48:16
Each one is for a specific corresponding hat, to avoid confusing your sims. Especially since there's only one place to put a noodlesoother that makes any sense.

Alright, then. Life goes on.

Incidentally, the hats actually go on the opposite ones, the old Nectere pictures are outdated. The thinking cap goes on the head-hands one, the Noodlesoother on the other.

Oh wow. That's actually kind of funny. Good thing, too. The head-hands one will look a heck of a lot better in my studies.

Oh thx! Just what I've been complaining about! I hate it when they'll trek all the way across a jungle and a river just to put the hats down, just because the tables are occupied by books they've just finished reading. Stupid sims.

I really like these, especially the one for the thinking cap.  I was really getting tired of them always putting them on the kitchen counters so they couldn't prepare food.

Thanks for making these, nectere.  I prefer the thinking cap one (the wooden one with the the head wtih hands) to the one for the noodlesoother, but I don't really use the noodlesoother much anyway.

Post by: Magicmoon on 2006 August 23, 15:10:14
I have to ask. What does the noodlesoother do? I've tried it out a time or 2, but happy sims don't appear to need it, and unhappy ones can't use it.

Title: Re: Hat Stands For Thinking Caps & Noodlesoothers

You put it on your Sims right before they go to work, and it helps them keep that good mood.  Don't let them wear it at home.

My Sims don't seem to use these.

Placement issue perhaps? If I place them according to the arrow, they appear to be placed backwards. What is the trick?

Mm, can I request another type that looks like some of the decorative busts in the game? That'd be kinda cool, and it would look like your sim put it on the statue to be cute. =p

What do you mean? Are they ignoring them in favor of the kitchen counter still?

The arrow seems to face the wall if you want the hat to face forward. That just seems to be how it is.

If I place them according to the arrow, they appear to be placed backwards.
I noticed this too.  I haven't seen any sims use them yet because all the sims in the house currently are maxed out.

Endtables/coffeetables, yes. But I suspect this is due to:

So does this mean I should make them accessible to Sims from the back (arrow facing the wall)? If so, that is likely why they are not using them.

Endtables/coffeetables, yes. But I suspect this is due to:
Well, if the endtables are STILL being chosen, I can try bumping the favoredness-level of the tables even higher, but you might want to try making it face the right direction or something. How far away are the proper hatstands compared to the chosen endtables?

Cap placement is always placed in one direction, in the opposite direction of the arrow and it is backwards, always. So in order to make it appear that the statue is 'wearing' the cap, you need to flip the statue around. I cant control how they set the cap down, so the solution is to turn simply turn the statue around. I tried flipping the mesh, but it didnt matter, its the arrow that matters in regards to the direction the cap is set down.

In my extensive testing of both the unhacked and hacked versions of this I did not find that the sims would not use the statue at all.

In the hacked version they always use it regardless of placement and regardless of how many tables/counters are right next to it. I have had the sim on the other end of the lot and they still place it on the hacked table/statues even with many other available surfaces in between.

Feel free to come up with a better mesh. I simply supplied my bribe as requested, and not just one but two meshy things, for the price of one.  :-*

&eta, the green statue looks best outside, possibly near bushes etc, for the noodlesoother, so that it becomes a part of the landscape and close to the vehicle which is where it is most needed.

So, if he chose your bribe, does that mean you won the contest?

Title: Re: Hat Stands For Thinking Caps & Noodlesoothers
Post by: nectere on 2006 August 23, 18:05:35
no, if you read the rules, it means anyone that places with a high enough score - or possibly simply because - can be called upon to supply the bribe and if the bribe is not supplied as indicated and promised one faces a breach in said contract....

***4. If your entry scores amongst the top winners, you will be required to remit the promised bribe. Failure to do so will result in your entry being penalized in score by the same amount you would have gained for the bribe. This may result in the loss of winning position.

I'll check again.

*I'd put them in my Hacks folder, as I do with most stuff from MATY, so I placed them in the generic downloads instead and lo, they did appear!

Title: Re: Hat Stands For Thinking Caps & Noodlesoothers
Post by: jrd on 2006 August 29, 11:24:10
As for them not being used: cause was user stupidity.
I was placing the (green) thinking cap on the (green) tiki head and the noodlesoother on the table. Correct placement is the other way around. With them on their right places (and thus these places being free while cap is in use) the Sims do place them back regardless of object orientation.

They work for me in a subfolder of Downloads.  I have a subfolder for Hacks and a subfolder under that for each modder.

Well, I don't have any clue either. I just know I have the same files as you, same game edition as you, and they work fine. Perhaps you mangled the file in some way? Try installing clean files.

I already cannot imagine playing without the snazzy-looking hat stands for thinking caps. (Never even tried using noodlesoothers, and the stands for them look like they might scare my sims anyhow.)

I vote for rolling this into the Director's Cut. And increasing the asp price--because we've all got way too many asp points anyway, and because these are so Awesome.

I love these stands....
I am, however, having a slight issue....Every time I cancel the action of putting the thinking cap away (say if I want them to go to work and just drop it on the ground) I get an error message, and I end up having to reset the sim.  Do you have any idea what could be causing this sort of error?
I'd gladly take the errors if I can keep the stands....They will stay in my game for eternity and beyond!
BTW, I have all eps, ffs and glife.

Post by: Magicmoon on 2006 September 30, 13:00:20
I notice that these stands are a little less reliable with sims who are part of a 3 bolt couple.

This is what I mean...Couples who have 3 bolts for each other want to be near their love at all times. So you tell the guy to skillinate. Fine, he puts on the hat, grabs a book, then walks to the far end of the lot where his wife is having a snack so that he can sit by her. Trouble is when he gets done skilling he is almost as likely to put it on a nearby counter as he was before we got the great hat stands, probably because the hat stand is so far away now.

However, sims who read in the same or nearby room as the hatstand usually use it, so all in all, it is still a much better solution than before.

Title: Re: Hat Stands For Thinking Caps & Noodlesoothers
Post by: Kyna on 2006 September 30, 13:16:31
I use extra hatstands to deal with that.  Or move the hatstand to the same room as the skilling sim.

I use extra hatstands to deal with that.

Same here -- after all, most sims have way to many asp points by the time they're adults, so at 1k a pop, you could probably put one in every room in the house. :)

yeah, I'm quoting myself.....  ::)
Can anyone tell me...Am I the only one experiencing this issue?  Sorry to be redundant, but I've been trying to figure out what this is related to... The only time I get errors with this object is when I stop the queue while my sim is putting down his/her thinking cap.
Thanks!

The answer got lost in the board move, I think -- have you updated this?  AFAIK, this problem was fixed in the 9/19 version of the hatstand.

You're welcome.  I believe there was also a note that you may have to delete existing ones and replace them if the jump bug still exists.  I found that just replacing the file fixed them in my game, but YMMV.

Now how about a stand for the sims' magazines they purchase on community lots.
Sims stubbornly insist on practically always dumping magazines on the floor, so there's no help for that. Awkward placements and extended treks are by far the least of your concerns with magazines.

Well, you'd need the interestlosshack available in the Director's Cut for them to even be worth messing with, and worrying about putting them ON anything is a pointless exerise, as sims don't look for a surface to put them on, they toss them on the floor.

Post by: RainbowTigress on 2006 October 10, 01:00:48
Yeah, I spent a long time a while back trying to increase Lilith and Angela's interests with magazines so they would have more than one thing in common to talk about, but it kept messing up their other interests, so I gave up.  >:(

Title: Re: Hat Stands For Thinking Caps & Noodlesoothers
Post by: OpiumGirl on 2006 October 10, 06:26:21
Oh, okay.....Actually, I think I remember that being the case in the sims 1 as well....I think it was with Hot Date?  I'll definitely grab interestlosshack as I don't even bother with magazines as they are. I read magazines and gain new interests quite frequently, and have yet to experience loss of interest in other things....THough, maybe I'm going about it the wrong way.  ::)

Kinda weird.
