Thank you!  I've been waiting anxiously for this one, I hate it when my sims stand around like idiots because they want to give the (clean) baby a bath...and can't because someone is already bathing her, she's skillinating or otherwise occupied.

Many thanks to the awesome one! ;D

Fancy meeting you here, HF   :P

As for the updated correction for a grossly irritating EA-created problem, I bow and scrape with obsequious gratitude.

Are you using the right one for your game? I seem to remember the Uni version creating major problems in NL, so that might be your problem... or vice versa...

This is going to be so helpful to me.  I'm so tired of the nannys & parents going and waking my infants up, holding them, then putting them down on the FLOOR, arg, all just because in about 10 sim hours they are going to be hungry or need a diaper changing or for whatever other reasons they do it.

Thank you muches.  Will report back if I have any problems. :)

Just downloading this again when I realised I didn't have it in.  I realised this because Brandi Broke fed her new baby three times in a row and was about to go for the fourth until I stopped her.  It was either that or she starved to death (the baby, of course, was never hungry in the first place).

Not totally off the subject but -
Have you thought of using FBA?  When I start up a family on eof the first things I do 5with Testing CheatEnabled on° I enable FBA.  I understand tht there are two versions, FBA 1 and FBA 2, but I only know how to put FBA 1 on.  In any case FBA (Find Best Action)  stops nutso and destructo actions like burning food, taking a baby up to the third floor of the house to use the potty when there's a potty two Sim feet away, feeding the kids repeatedly or (for the Nanny) playing video games while the child starves to death.

I don't recall ever hearing about a FBA cheat  ???

Shift-click on a sim while in debug mode. It should be one of the options there. (I think...)

JM you are a total lifesaver.   I have been pulling my hair out trying to play superlarge multifamily households with multiple babies with every adult in the house wanting to hold them and refusing to tend their own needs.  Or I would have pulled my hair out if I could have let go the mouse and keyboard long enough.   Thank you,  thank you,  thank you,  for making my game enjoyable again.   ((((((((((((((hugs)))))))))))))

I agree. Now its safe to have lots of babies, and have fewer worries. He has also made my game better, and less stressful. I can play AND have fun now.

Thanks JM. Can't wait for the next hack.

This is a wonderful mod and lets me control how I want sims to raise the baby.  The only time these harass the infant though is when their own hunger meter is a little low and that makes them want to feed the baby.  I usually just teleport them far away and make them eat.

I think that would be the Uni- version, for Uni and below.

This is awesome. Thank you!!

Would it be possible to make it so that infants could only be put in a crib or playpen when they are put down. It drives me nuts when my Sims drop their infants on the floor!!!

Thanks!

It may not be a separate hack, but in the director's cut there's a hack called 'nodroptiredbaby' that keeps the parents holding a tired baby. And the automated baby controller (found in the previous forum) also makes sure the parent  puts the baby back in the crib most of the time, even when it's not tire. I have both in my gme, and my experience with them is that the parents rarely if ever put the baby on the floor -- usually only if they have some other pressing need and the crib is too far away (or they're told to by me :)). And with the baby controller, if one parent puts the baby down, usually the other or a teen in the house comes along and picks it up to put it in the crib.

I noticed recently that my sim parents will keep wanting to pick up the baby and feed it even when it's just been fed.  I do have this hack, and I thought it was supposed to stop this type of behavior.  I think it's just been since NL and I put in the updated NL version of this hack that I've noticed this.  I don't remember it happening with the Uni version.

Title: Re: No Baby Harassment
Post by: gethane on 2006 February 25, 17:52:30
i did not have this hack currently. But I ususally didn't have too much nonsense going on.

Then I installed the new NL patch last night.

And went to play a family that had a toddler, and then a surprise set of twins (that damn risky woohoo. does it take aspiration into account? twice in a row they woohood and twice in a row got pregnant).

And oh my god. The parents and the nanny wouldn't leave the damn kids in the bed! They were passing out practically from exhaustion (parents and toddler) and wouldn't leave them alone! I had to turn freewill off for awhile to get things under control.

Disclaimer: I did have 2 custom cribs and a custom toddler bed. And when I really noticed it getting crazy I had just bought a custom tub (though I don't know why that would matter).

I can't help but wonder if it was that damn patch I installed though.

Title: Re: No Baby Harassment
Post by: BlueSoup on 2006 February 25, 17:53:15
Pescado has said it will not work on custom cribs.

Title: Re: No Baby Harassment
Post by: jsalemi on 2006 February 25, 18:56:50
Right, it does have problems with the simlogical reservable cribs.  However, it does seem to work fine with Inge's "cribgetoutall" mod that works with the standard cribs.

Title: Re: No Baby Harassment
Post by: RainbowTigress on 2006 February 25, 22:03:08
I don't have any custom cribs though.

Post by: jsalemi on 2006 February 26, 00:05:12
Are you also using the baby controller?  I use both, and it seems to keep things under control.  Maybe I'll not use the baby controller next time and see what happens with just the no harassment hack.

Title: Re: No Baby Harassment
Post by: RainbowTigress on 2006 February 26, 00:12:15
Yes, I'm using the Baby Controller.  I've used it since before NL came out.

Title: Re: No Baby Harassment
Post by: Sleepycat on 2006 May 20, 23:16:43
I was trying to download the Uni- version of this hack (since I assume it will work in the base game) but the file seems to be missing. I was just wondering if it was still available. I can't stand them constantly going for the babies when they're not hungry whatsoever.

I checked the Hack Directory but couldn't find it for you there, so I looked on my computer and found two copys of this hack that are Uni compatiable, I'll attach the newer of the two

edit - I'm so glad I kept my Uni and NL hack folders!

Yes, it is. If you look in the OFB hack directory (linked to in the sticky post up near the top of the forum) you will see that it is there.

I looked and could not find any No Baby Harrassment there. The only thing I found was a baby controller which doesn't really work that good. I have a household of 2 adult women and 1 teen who are constantly waking the baby up to put it in the crib whether it's in the crib or on a sleeping mat. It's driving me nuts! They will drop what they're doing and go wake up the toddler or baby! I used to use this w/NL, but not sure if it's compatible w/OFB or not. I suppose I can try it, lol. Thanks!

nobabyharassment is indeed there.  http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com/ffs/ofb/hacks/  About halfway down the page.

As for the baby controller, it works fine - most people forget to configure it if they've never used it.  Make sure you go through the options and choose to manage the baby/toddler.

Title: Re: No Baby Harassment
Post by: jsalemi on 2006 June 05, 19:59:53
Also, as I've found out the hard way and JMP confirmed in chat, the baby controller doesn't work quite as well (or sometimes doesn't work at all) with custom cribs. The caregivers will eventually figure out there's a crib in the room and put the baby in it, but not nearly as well or as fast as with the Maxis cribs. If there's one baby, it's not too bad, but if there's twins or more, you should stick with the Maxis cribs to make sure everything works as it should.

Pity, because there's some really nice custom cribs, bassinets, etc out there.

I know, I have all sorts of nice cribs, but I don't even know why I download them when I prefer to go macrotastically...

Title: Re: No Baby Harassment
Post by: RainbowTigress on 2006 June 05, 21:09:13
The baby controller works fine with OFB.  I did wonder why they weren't putting the baby in the crib or taking the toddler to the potty like they usually do when I was testing in my test neighborhood, until I remembered I had plopped the Eye in the nursery, but forgot to tell it to manage babies and toddlers, LOL.  After that, it ran perfectly.  I use the sleeping blanket from MTS2, and it works fine with the baby controller.  In fact, a lot of the time, my toddlers sleep there most of the time and the parents only put them in the crib if they happen to not be busy when the toddler starts fussing, and the controller sends them to put them in the crib.  If everyone is busy, though, the toddlers just go over and curl up on the mat and go to sleep.

Title: Re: No Baby Harassment
Post by: jsalemi on 2006 June 05, 21:36:46
Yea, the baby mat works fine, but that's because I think the author just cloned it from the crib so it still sees it as one. I recall in a recent chat JMP talking about primary and secondary GUIDs, and his hacks looking for one or the other when they relate to objects. Cloned objects will still have the same secondary GUIDs as the original. The other cribs and stuff out there probably aren't clones, so they don't have the same secondary GUID.

Title: Re: No Baby Harassment
Post by: RainbowTigress on 2006 June 05, 22:19:06
Yes, I saw this to be the case when I was troubleshooting once and removed all my downloads.  The baby mat appeared as a crib that was sunk halfway through the floor with the actual bed part on the same level with the floor.  I never save the game when I'm troubleshooting like this, but it's interesting to see the actual object things were cloned from.  The toddler was unable to use it in that state, of course, because he wasn't able to get past the sides of the crib.  I noticed that shaklin's love bed is cloned not from a bed, but one of the loveseats (which explains why it's actually only two tiles.)

The only thing I've found the baby controller not to work with is Squinge's nursing hack (and the only reason I was using it was for three-story houses where the fridge was too damn far away from the crib - but now I just put a hacked mini-fridge up on the third floor and make a little wet-bar).

Title: Re: No Baby Harassment

Non-Awesome (tm) hacks do not tend to work with the Baby Controller.

Remember:
Quote from: RTFM
SIDE EFFECTS:
May cause computer damage, incontinence, explosion of user's head, coma, death, and/or halitosis.

WARNING:
Do not open, crush, dispose of in fire, put in backwards, short-circuit, or mix with non-awesome hacks - may explode, leak, or catch fire, resulting in injury and/or death.

I use Inge's bottomless bottle.  The baby controller doesn't recognize it, but I can direct my sims to use it manually, and toddlers will use it when they are hungry.

Yep, that's why I kept it awesome (after trying out the un-awesomeness).

Title: Re: No Baby Harassment
Post by: Ancient Sim on 2006 July 04, 00:44:50
I have a problem with this (don't think I've reported it before).  When it's used in conjunction with the Baby Controller, it works perfectly except it only seems to recognise the parents of the baby.  For instance, if a household consists of married couple with alien child, the wife is not instructed to see to the baby, even when the father is at work, unless I get her to go hold it, then the controller will kick-in and instruct her to change its nappy.  Similarly, a house with 2 couples - if both parents are at work, the controller won't ask one of the other adults unless I get them to hold the baby.  If I remove this mod, it will automatically seek the nearest adult.

I've had parents stopped from getting into their cars to go to work, dragged out of bed when they've only just got in, all sorts, when there's been a perfectly suitable adult nearby who has had nothing to do, which does seem rather silly.  Could it perhaps be modified so it looks for the nearest unoccupied adult/teen, rather than the nearest parent?

Title: Re: No Baby Harassment
Post by: RainbowTigress on 2006 July 04, 01:03:09
Well, I seem to still be having a problem with parents wanting to feed the baby constantly when they, the adult, is hungry, instead of going and eating themselves with free will on.  If the baby isn't hungry, the Baby Controller will make them put the baby back instead, but I thought this mod was supposed to stomp this behavior.  I get tired of telling them every little thing to do when I turn off free will.

I just had series of errors, from what I can see it's something to do with baby controllers.

I have the latest version of the baby controller as per this thread.
I had taken out nobabyharassment because I was trying TwoJeffs' NoBabyToddlerSwarming.package

These are some of the errors I'm getting.

ETA: Actually it's not your hacks at all, when I took out 2J's baby hack, yours worked fine. I'm going to point 2J over this way and see if he can maybe pick something up from the error logs.
