Title: New patch rollout - ghosts, pools and careers
Post by: Skadi on 2014 October 01, 21:05:32
EAxis have announced 3 new patches, the first is already live in Origin.
The October patch gives you: playable ghosts, death flower and Star Wars costumes. November's will bring back pools, and December's will include new careers.

At least it's free!

I feel moved to ask which patch will fix the fact that plant splicing is borked?

*laughter at my innocence/ignorance may now commence*

It'll be the same one where they break the pianos.

Now the general masses will only have the lack of toddlers to complain about.

This latest one, apparently. They left it out of the patch notes though.

Whoa, I'm kind of impressed that EA is at least trying. I guess we'll wait and see what we will actually get, and how well it works. Well, maybe impressed is too big of a word - relieved is closer to the truth.

Plant splicing was sneakily fixed with the ghosts patch, they just didn't want to remind anyone that they messed it up :D

That's an error that was already there. I have a potion in one Sims inventory that reads _________'s Essence of Playfulness. Should be Jacinta but it derped when my Sims last moved.

Those fucks at Maxis seem to have learned a thing or two from their complete failure of a game that was Sim City 2013. Add all the shit in that should have been there in the first place and then rape us in the ass with a hundred expansions and DLC.

Why do people think that Maxis is a separate and unique identity from EA?

Title: Re: New patch rollout - ghosts, pools and careers

Maxis is game developer of EA. Ea tells them, "Blah blah, make us rich in this amount of time" and Maxis makes the game with-in those limits or gets raped by a pack of wild boars. Ea is the mother company to Maxis. Like ZeniMax Media is the mother company to Bethesda Game Studios. Maxis fucking all their games up is 90% Maxis 10% EA greedy corporate cocksuckers.

Maxis is game developer of EA.

So why do people keep thinking Maxis is an independent stand alone company?  They were bought out/merged/taken over by EA along time ago, and EA after screwing everything up, reincorporated the old Maxis log into the games in an attempt to make people happy and make them think the old Maxis was back and somehow in control again.

It is so unbelievable the number of people who have bought it, and seem to think Maxis is back as some kind of independent company.  Put simply, Maxis IS EA.

You understand that many companies are owned by other companies but run individually? Yeah, Maxis has to report to EA and get the thumbs up for what they do and get a timeline of when they game should be released, but besides that Maxis is off doing their own thing, along with all the other developers owned by EA. Of course Ea can ask them to add things, or bitch them out for taking too long (SPORE), but still, Maxis logo belongs as much as the EA logo.

Except that EA owns Maxis. Maxis is like Atari; it exists only as a branding logo.

If only there were some way that one could use their computer to find information... (http://lmgtfy.com/?q=Maxis)

Basically EA gutted Maxis, skinned it, and wears its face as a mask for public functions involving the Sims.

That's what they do. Before Origin was a crappy client software that no one wants to use, it was a software company that made Ultima and Wing Commander. Then Richard Garriott sold his soul to the devil EA and the gutting and skinning commenced.

Same with BioWare (Neverwinter Nights, Dragon Age). Company skinned and gutted by EA, staff replaced with EA drones, EA wears mask in public to point the blame on someone other than EA. Wash, rinse, repeat.

You can actually chart the progress of the process with Bioware by looking at the Mass Effect series and how the games evolved from an RPG with shooter elements (and free DLC) to a shooter with RPG elements (and a shitload of pay DLC).

They've released a new patch.  Looks like a lot of miscellaneous bug fixes rather than new functionality.

I guess people like me need to wait until there's a scene release of the patch by RELOADED? How much do they normally take?

The latest patch was released yesterday. Details here:

http://help.ea.com/en/article/the-sims-4-updates/ (http://help.ea.com/en/article/the-sims-4-updates/)

In addition to the two new careers, Business and Athletic, and an assortment of bug fixes, they also made some changes to the user interface.  My first impression is that the changes help, especially what they've done to the Career panel, and breaking up the options on the Phone menu into categories to make them easier to find.

You're not missing anything.  It's broken; e.g., if you were in the middle of an aspiration or promotion, your progress from before the patch doesn't count.

Wonderful. Anyway i just found out there's a "Game Pack" due this month. Probably will only have updated crack after this is released.

This might be stupid but why are you even using a crack version of the game? Its cheap enough now you can just buy it. No offense to anyone I was just wondering.

There's people that don't want Origin, period. Simple as that. Besides, unless there's another place that you know of that I can at least trust enough to get a legitimate CD key for it, ~$40, which is the current Origin price and what I saw on a few other CD key sites, is still too much for me, at least.

There are a couple of reasons, firstly, as posted previously, alot of people don't want Origin installed.  With TS2 and TS3 you could still play the game AND patch without needing to install Origin (or the older EA Downloader).  Secondly, for alot of people even $10 is too much to pay EAxis for how fucked up and broken they are leaving the games.  When you read all the complaints about what is missing with TS4 and how stripped down and fucked up it is, why would you want to actually pay for it, at any price?  Some might even argue that the time spent downloading and installing is too much to pay.

After all, they did leave TS2 and TS3 full of bugs and glitches when they walked away from them, so why expect anything different with TS4.

At least give her credit for being self-aware enough to finally start prefacing her posts with "This might be stupid."

I get your point and its valid reasoning. In my opinion the game is fine I wasn't expecting TS4 to be like any of the previous versions. I guess that why I am still supporting them. I know a lot of other people aren't happy and won't spend any more money with them until they fix the game.
