Title: Patching The Sims 3 [RG] Catalyst Repack?
Post by: Eurotrash on 2014 March 28, 17:13:52
How does one update a Russian repack of The Sims 3 Complete from 1.63 to 1.67 without the original 1.63 Russian files? Finding those is like finding a needle in a haystack and since this is a repack I never had the original files...

Tried using 1.63 files from other regions, nada. Still looking for the original Russian files but I'm hoping maybe there's a workaround I don't know about...

My advice is that you get a real version instead of some dodgy Russian repack.

Fair enough, but if I install everything myself something somewhere is bound to break. RG's repack was the most stable version I could find.

Probably, I was thinking of registering as self-employed in getting this masterfully coded game to work properly but I haven't gotten around to it yet. I just want to know if and how I can update it in these conditions. I don't really care much about EA's half-assed updates since they fix one thing and break three more, but since *cough* Awesomemod self-destructs when it becomes outdated I basically have to chose between a broken game or no Awesomemod.

I don't think anyone has as much trouble with EA's coding as you.  Perhaps you're just dumb.  Maybe you should just go play something else and quit annoying us.

"Something else" implies I'm currently playing The Sims 3. I'm not, that's what brought me here to begin with.

We don't take kindly to possums around here. Can't you just be dead for real?

Also, AM versions don't self destruct, they are perfectly usable for as long as you like. You just have to be smart enough to... well, I don't want to spoil the fun of finding out for yourself.

Caveat: Using an old version of AM can be bad for your health, and is not recommended.

Therein lies the problem, most of the arseholes, like Eurotrash, simply aren't smart enough to figure those things out, even though it isn't that complicated.

While that is true, retreading old ground would be fruitless at this point. It was 'Domed, so the depths of its stupidity are already roundly known.

Also, isn't that so cute? It thinks it's Lazarus. I didn't know possums read the bible.

I wouldn't have believed it myself, but the evidence is there, right down to having one interacting with this very thread. Granted, it has zero comprehension skills and its communications are rudimentary at best, but I guess even marsupials have to start somewhere.

Also, there is only one creature in this thread that doesn't know how to fix AM to work beyond its expiration date. This hint will be difficult, but I'm sure it will be deciphered in time; it's not the FOJ, jezzer, merlin, or me.

Note: Escaped 'Dome residents are not capable of enough thought to qualify as living creatures, so they are not acknowledged.

Given that I specifically avoid dodgy repack releases and go for clean ones on the grounds that updation will specifically be a problem in dodgy repacks, I would say that the answer is "No". Suck it up and get a real one.

You know, this is like watching a dog fruitlessly beg for table scraps. At some point, I just start to feel bad for it. Not that I feed it, mind you, but I do feel bad.

I am one to feed my dog the scraps. Why not give him the bones from my chicken? Makes for a nice little treat type thing. now if Eurotrash came to my table begging for scraps, I would punch him in the mouth.

Now on a derailing note, I remember this one time when I was living with my father (about a year ago) I went to answer the door and I came back to find my stepmum's shorkie had eaten my food (Mind you it was some chicken strips, cause chicken strips are tasty). Oh gurl, I was pissed.

That's not inability to recognize tone. That's either sockery or imitation. 'delicious tears' is somehow specific. 'ability to not give a flying fuck' is more generic. Help me out people, I recognise patterns not specifics.

Sita, I know you are a sad and unable to be effectively medicated person, but . . . No, that's all I wanted to say about that actually.

Everybody else - yes the Eurotard needs a new symbol and a spelling fix on it's name, but that's all. You are only giving the over-used symbol it has chosen to embrace as it's own more power by making this about anything other than the innate tardiness of the individual. If you spend some time thinking about it you will realise that the very fact it uses this symbol at all means that it knows nothing about it.

Maybe I've erred in thinking it's alive. The lack of critical analysis skills and repetitive nature of its, frankly, weak retorts suggest that the Swastitard is actually an undead opossum and is in the same type of death throes as a decapitated chicken. Or, am I simply engaging in wishful thinking?

Either way, having the betatard in its corner is punishment enough.

Says the formerly 'Domed marsupial that is still relying on the "I know you are, but what am I?" argument.

Says the internet cliche whose only defenses are crying like a little bitch and referring to the other as "it" in the hope than you'll make yourself seem superior. Maybe we should exchange avatars, since mine obviously suits you better, mein führer.

Also what the heck is it with you people and mammals? Why do you keep forcing insults like "possum" and "marsupial"? Seriously I don't get this one. It's like you're desperately trying to deny you're into bestiality or something. Not to mention, coming from you, calling someone a "possum" is like calling them a "Nobel prize winner".

From where I stand, there is no "seem". You are the idiot who can't install TS3 like a normal person.

Explanations are lost on those not intelligent enough to be classified as humans, and thus deserve a direct address or a male/female designation.

If this is the best it can offer, then further sporkings are destined to disappoint.

If using Origin makes you normal then I'd rather be abnormal.

Then again, if you qualify as a "normal person" then I'd rather shoot up a college just for the sake of not being placed in the same classification as you.

Who uses Origin?

"Normal people".

Riiiight. I think I've found our problem. It thinks Origin is 'normal'. With no base reference between our two universes I doubt we'll ever be able to communicate effectively.

Madame Mim just called you a moron, son.

*shakes head and walks away* There are other means besides Origin that are legal. Of course your head is so far up your ass that you can't see that. Even a lurker can figure that one out doofus.

FTFY. Everyone, except the tard trifecta, knows how to install TS3 WITHOUT Origin.

This fucktard seriously doesn't understand that Origin is, and has always been, entirely optional?

Oh I do know how. But you see, unlike you I don't have an entire god-damn day to spare for installing all this crap just to realize at the end that I forgot one patch, or one registry entry or some shit and now everything's gone FUBAR. Maybe you can afford that all camped up in your basement like you are, but I can't. I have other things to do, like having sex with your mom.

Maybe. I don't use Origin so that would make sense :P But since you know so much about it, you must use it regularly, which classifies you as a person with an intelligence quotient situated at or below 50. More commonly known as a moron.

Right, you don't have time for that shit, I forgot. Oh wait, didn't you post this lame thread complaining that you couldn't update your game?

Who's the winner here? jezzer/Skadi/myself, with a fully patched, perfectly functional, and Origin-free game. Or you, with a dumbass game held together with the digital equivalent of scotch tape and super glue, that can't be updated properly?

(HINT: NOT YOU)

Also, if you knew my mom you'd realize that you just insulted yourself. My mom is scary and I pity any man who wants to have sex with her.

Oh, I got so caught up in our little pissing contest I forgot to mention I managed to make the game work. Last Saturday to be more precise, courtesy of a Russian friend who was kind enough to share his original 1.63 Russian files with me (if you don't know what a friend is, and my guess is you don't, look it up in the dictionary, I'm not getting paid to tutor you).

Since you're stuck with a version of the game that takes up almost 40GB of space thus taking decades to load, and you have to waste hours reinstalling every time your computer catches a malware from a bestiality site or whatever else you freaks are into, while I'm enjoying a fully-packed yet compact game (23 GB with all the Store content released up to 1.63, which comes with the Repack) that loads in approximately 35 seconds give-or-take and takes little over 5 minutes to completely install or reinstall, I guess the podium is mine.

If you want it patch correctly go to MTS and download the patcher. It patches all the games up to the last EP.

Already included in the Repack. But that's good advice, pre-Generations expansions stay unpatched for many people despite being the buggiest.
