Whilst looking for the direct link for this, I made the following humorous observation:
Create-A-World = CAW
Create-A-Pattern = CAP
Create-A-Pet = CAP? Nope. That's already been taken.
EAxis labelled the page "http://www.thesims3.com/game/tools/scrap". I suppose scrap is an acronym for Sims 3 Create-A-Pet, otherwise known as Sims 3 CRAP.

Make sure you backup your game before you install this. There have been a lot of reports on the official TS3 forums that it screws up their game because the demo is connected with the actual install of your game.

Unfortunately I got the memo too late. I should've known better though. All of the store content is gone. As far as I can tell I still have all my CC though. Will experiment some more since now it's all gone to hell anyways.

My store content was gone from the game as well. I just deleted everything in the DCCache and DCBackup folders, reinstalled and it's all back and working fine. But once you go back into create-a-pet, it will be gone again, so I'm just leaving it out while I mess with create-a-pet.

I'm reinstalling everything atm. CRAP isn't exciting enough for me to play without the store items. Besides unlike the store items I can't use the pets in game either way so what's the point really? I already messed around with it and saved a couple of pets for future use when Pets is finally out.

You're right my game won't start at all, it says there is an error please see log for details. I will have to uninstall it all I think. I have uninstalled the demo but makes no difference.

Delurking...just to say:  "Have we learned NOTHING from the two previous incarnations of PETS in Sims games? Am I the only one who remembers how utterly awful and bug-filled the Pets EPs were for both Sims1 and Sims2? And yes, I expect it to be a bug-filled exasperating piece of carp this time around, too. Hence, I've decided to avoid all things pet related until our fearless leader gives the all clear. I think I can live without directing sims to scoop pixelated poop for a really long time.

twallan has a Create-A-Pet Demo Jailbreak which "allows you to see the Test World and place the animals you created in-game".

I was playing with that yesterday. Most of the interactions don't work (and they can cause crazy stretching (http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6171/6184406142_b8af162a42_b.jpg)), but it looks nice seeing pets roam around instead of in CAS.

PEOPLE WHO LOST STORE CONTENT FROM CRAP:

What method did you use to install your cc?  Was it store content you purchased, was it decrapified, converted .packages, etc?

I lost everything installed with the launcher, (decrapified, legal, 3rd party, all of it) but nothing that was in the mods folder.

yes so it seems it does. i had to reinstall my mods (i think thats what fixed them) but if you are using your launcher just go to your downloads section and select all > install to reinstall everything.

According to Snootysims.com EA announced a new CRAP (loving this acronym btw), apparently this one won't "break your game". Did anyone test this yet?

I really don't see the point of trying out the CRAP before getting the game, but then I don't see the point in half the shit EA does.

I think it is like when they released bodyshop months before TS2 came out - a stunt to drive interest.

That's exactly what it is of course, though you also get to mess around with the controls and such. I made a few pets which I can just throw in-game when I get my hands on it. I'm mainly curious because of Twallan's jailbreak. I'm still on the fence whether it's worth the trouble though.
