Title: Windows 7 Patch?
Post by: vlcroman on 2011 September 04, 05:51:35
I just got a new computer with Windows 7, and when I installed The Sims 2, I got a message from the Program Compatiblility Assistant that "This program has known compatibility problems."  When I click the button for "check for solutions online" it opens a new window with a link to download the update, and sends me to the site http://thesims2.ea.com/update/index.php, where I'm told

Oops! This link appears broken.
DNS error occurred. Server cannot be found.

I'm at my wits end and hope someone here can help.

Thanks in advance.

Ignore the message.  Sims 2 should run just fine on Windoze 7.

I've had 7 for the better part of a year, and I run Sims 2 and all EPs/SPs on it just fine, no problems.

Thanks, folks, it does seem to work.  Although the display is stretched out to fit my new wider screen.  Oh, well.

Have you tried setting it to run in compatibility mode?
