Title: Patching v. 1.0.632.00002
Post by: foreign on 2010 July 03, 19:28:18
Yeah, so I have v. 1.0.632.00002, which means it won't patch any higher. It's Razor's, or so I was told. I get the issue where the skuversion.txt says I have 1.0.632.00002 but the launcher says I have 1.0.631.00002 and the patches will run up to 96% until it gives me an invalid file error, which is the skuverson.txt. So I edit that file and it tells me my invalid file is tslhost.dll. I dunno if overriding it with the same file from the iso will help.

If I researched correctly, I need to have 1.0.631 in order to patch.

I just want to know if I reinstall, can I keep the game at v. 1.0.631?

Someone else installed the game for me (he has the files, not me, so I can't so anything now). I heard that there is a crack or something that comes with it that makes it 1.0.632 and that I should patch the game before I crack.
I think he cracked without patching, I dunno.

So how can I keep the game at that version so I can patch to the latest patch?

I also broke it trying to patch and now it asks for me to insert a CD.

Although a quick Google search provided the answer and I thus felt inclined to get all shouty on yo' ass, your proper use of grammar and puctuation had not gone unnoticed, so here.

http://www.lightchan.com/how-to-update-the-sims-3-reloaded-to-patch-12700002/

I especially draw your attention to the following:

Quote
4. Apply patch Sims3 1.0.632.00002 from 1.0.631.00002.exe (this patch changed version 631 to version 632 (unofficial update).

5. Download this file :
http://nezukoshop.googlepages.com/FILESFROMRETAIL631.rar
and copy to \Game\Bin folder, replace all default files so now you have a full Razor version.

It seems you're not "full razor" yet. I checked, the download link does work. Not patching your game is HIGHLY dumb, so don't not patch. Get a new crack when you are done patching to correlate with the version you have after patching, or use Awesome Mod, or use Twallan's NoCd mod, for old cracks don't work on updated files, as you noticed.

Thanks.

I actually did that, and patched from that to the latest patch instead of to 1.2.7 (which may have been dumb) and the game now displays as being properly patched, but when I go to choose a family, the game crashes to desktop while loading.

I moved all my mods elsewhere, so it's not a CC that's causing the crash.

Help?

Before I had replaced the TS3.exe and tslhost.dll to reflect the newest version, the launcher wouldn't launch the game because it checked for CD. I figured I need the nocd hack then? Because now, I've lost the original TS3.exe file... when I replace the .dll file, the launcher won't even start.

The replaced files I got from http://dl.gamecopyworld.com/?d=2009&f=rzr-s327!7z (http://dl.gamecopyworld.com/?d=2009&f=rzr-s327!7z). After I did this, I got the problem I mention in the first sentence of this post.

The razor edition of the game is not the retail edition, basically what you're doing is patching the game (in an unofficial manner) to make it match the retail version. After that it should update fine now and forever, unless you install expansions which don't have the same version.

Yes, the reason I am patching is so I can install the expansions and play with CAW.

But I am still having the trouble I mentioned in post 3, crashing to desktop upon loading a saved game.

You're kinda doing it in a weird roundabout way. THere are Razor-released packs out there specifically for updating to retail. Find one, download it, and reinstall, updating to retail using the Razor update to retail, instead of random files from gamecopyworld.

And don't use a no-cd. A no-cd will interfere with patching, because you'll get invalid file errors.

I did a system restore and got my game back to version 1.0.632.00002.

What kind of file should I look for to properly patch to a proper version that will allow me to install expansions? To what version should I patch?

I really just wanted it updated so I can play with CAW.

Way way way back when I had a similar issue. I found it easier to just uninstall the game and reinstall with the retail version torrent.

It's a pretty easy to find pack. Wherever you got the torrent should have it. It's a razor released pack of everything you need to upgrade to retail.
