Title: Ambitions Torrent
Post by: Erry on 2010 June 01, 10:48:36
I'm not sure if this is the correct section but here's the torrent:

Enjoy.

There really isn't a specific section for this, because it's not really an issue regarding the game and we don't really need to cover it at length.

Ugh, this is terrible. ETA: 2 years.

I'm almost tempted to spend money on this. Almost. I'm too cheap to ever actually do it though.

Same. My ETA keeps jumping from 2 years to 1 week and back. I would buy the game if I had the money. I usually do, but until I can afford it, I'm stuck with torrents. Still, by the time it actually downloads, I may have the money to buy a copy.

Give it time to get more seeders and stuff. It's been out for less than a day.

Post by: Claeric on 2010 June 01, 15:56:25
I'm waiting a bit anyway, but question:

Is the Vitality release usually "compatible" with Reloaded? I own the base game, but I do not have the money to go out and buy WA or Ambitions yet (though I am obsessed with having boxes and manuals for games, so soon enough). I got the Reloaded WA...but it was SKU2 when my legit Sims 3 was SKU1. So I had to download the reloaded Sims 3, too.

Will the Vitality one be SKU2 or SKU1? Is it Multi language and therefore whatever, or is it the US version or whatever? <_<

I dont want to waste the space and bandwidth.

Title: Re: Ambitions Torrent
Post by: IAmTheRad on 2010 June 01, 16:00:27
Why wouldn't the release be compatible with the Reloaded release? It's just gamefiles.

I assume the Vitality release is SKU1, since the game won't be out in Europe until Friday.

All you need to do if it doesn't install is edit the registry to 'fake' your region. Worked fine for my legit Sims 3 and downloaded WA/HELS, will see in about 15mins how it works here.

Title: Re: Ambitions Torrent
Post by: Alwayswatching on 2010 June 01, 16:05:21
Editing the game region is super easy.

Did anyone know that Ambitions adds the ability to edit, add and remove lots or town items to your neighborhoods from the edit town menu? (Finally.)

Title: Re: Ambitions Torrent
Post by: Claeric on 2010 June 01, 16:07:19
Well, I initially faked my WA download into thinking it was SKU 1, but even then, only the SKU 2 patches worked for it.

So I was using SKU 1 patches (ending in .1) for The Sims 3, but SKU 2 patches (ending in .2) for WA, and I had to manually download every patch because of it, and eventually I broke it and got sick of it. Maybe it would be easier with just editing ambitions. Actually, I'm not even sure what SKU the ones I have are listed as.

If it is "just game files" then it might work. Gotta wait for the awesomemod update anyway. Definitely not reinstalling.

Title: Re: Ambitions Torrent
Post by: Alwayswatching on 2010 June 01, 16:09:08
Huh? I have WA and the Base Game on two different regions too, but I just changed the WA region to the same as the base game (USA I think) and never changed it back. USA patches work on both of them. I've never had to change the region to install a patch.

Did anyone know that Ambitions adds the ability to edit, add and remove lots or town items to your neighborhoods from the edit town menu? (Finally.)

Remember, you need to buy Ambitions to use this new feature that should have been in the game at release!

Title: Re: Ambitions Torrent
Post by: Claeric on 2010 June 01, 16:13:03
I must've done something wrong then.

Also, uh, I think Town Editing will be in the next major patch. Quite a few big features of Ambitions, just like WA, will be patched.

Title: Re: Ambitions Torrent
Post by: ShortyBoo on 2010 June 01, 16:15:03
Well, mine said ETA was 14 hours just 20 minutes ago, but now it's saying around 8 hours, and it seems to be staying at a consistent speed now. I guess it doesn't really matter anyway since I'm not planning on installing it until AM is compatible.

Claeric, the region SKU can be changed easily. I bought the base game, so it's region 1, but both WA and HELS are the RELOADED releases and they're region 2. All I had to do to install them is modify the SKU for the base game from 1 to 2. I changed it back afterwards. I now get region 1 patches for the base game and region 2 patches for WA. It all works fine for me.

Title: Re: Ambitions Torrent
Post by: Claeric on 2010 June 01, 16:21:33
Well, that's the thing, I don't want to have to get the patches manually. I loooooove the convenience of just using the launcher. I guess I'll just wait for the Reloaded version (though I dont know a thing about how these "releases" work, so I dunno how long that'll be). Not like downloading will be an issue of speed, that is where private sites come in. :3 Blackcats ftmfw.

Title: Re: Ambitions Torrent
Post by: Alwayswatching on 2010 June 01, 16:24:49
Speaking of which, would pirated expansions still work with the launcher and online features?

I have legit base and WA.

Title: Re: Ambitions Torrent
Post by: IAmTheRad on 2010 June 01, 16:24:55
There will not be a reloaded release of Ambitions. Vitality got to it first.

Seems like EA finally decided to make a standard disk for Sims 3: Ambitions. I'm installing it now (I got the ISO off Usenet).

I just have The Sims 3 legit, and I can use online features.

Title: Re: Ambitions Torrent
Post by: Claeric on 2010 June 01, 16:27:09
I've seen Reloaded and vitality of things, but is that really how they work? The first one to do it is the only one and the other goes "oh well"?

I am not familiar with this stuff.

Title: Re: Ambitions Torrent
Post by: J. M. Pescado on 2010 June 01, 16:30:31
The Scene tends to be about who gets it and cracks correctly it first. It's sort of a race. The losers are "nuked", meaning their releases are pulled from official circulation, although if the releases are close, nuked releases may hang around for a bit, particularly if it turns out that the first rusher cracked it wrong and the second one is therefore "Proper". This part doesn't really concern us since cracking TS3 is unnecessary, though.

Title: Re: Ambitions Torrent
Post by: IAmTheRad on 2010 June 01, 16:31:04
The first group to do a release on the scene is the only release, unless the release is nuked (it has issues) then another group can snatch it up.

Ambitions is SKU region 1, btw. skuregion.txt reads

GameVersion = 4.0.87.006001
Code:0.RL-2.0.104
Asset:1.ep2-0.rl.5
Thumbnails:1.Thumbnailep2.dl.127
TCC:1.TCC.ep02.137
CiderVersion#003828

Title: Re: Ambitions Torrent
Post by: Claeric on 2010 June 01, 16:32:57
But someone just said it was an all-in-one disc, like a multi release, doesn't that mean the SKU will be whatever SKU your existing installation is?

AGH I am so confused. Whatever. My ETA is 4 hours, 5 min. That's all I know.

RELOADED won't proper ViTALiTY's release since it does not have any reason to nuke it from the scene.
You can expect a proper when a initial release don't work properly as it should.

About Regions.
The installer automatically updates it to your current region.
It's included inside the ISO at Support\Updates or Support\UpdatesMAC.

The "real" size of this expansion is only 2.5 Gb, add 2.12 Gb of updates and you have this release.

MAC Updates are wayyy big.

2 days ago I found this shelved at my local hick-town Target store.  They refused my purchase at the register, now they lose a sale.  Anyone else finding this marketing strategy not making sense?

Title: Re: Ambitions Torrent
Post by: Claeric on 2010 June 01, 16:39:10
Alright, THAT'S what I needed to know- the installer will auto-detect my installed SKU and fix it for me. Then everything is good once AM is updated. Huzzah! Can't wait to add lots to Sunset Valley. Anyone know if we can remove/change existing lots?

My ETA dropped down to infinity though. ;-; Pretty rare for a Blackcats download.

Speaking of which, would pirated expansions still work with the launcher and online features?

I have legit base and WA.
I think they do. If you want to update that way you just have to replace the cracked .exe/tslhost.dll with the original copies and then find a no-CD patch for the new version.

I pulled this off a private tracker this morning and the new features seem pretty neat. I was disappointed with the dearth of new clothes (more varieties of emo hair though  ::) ), but the build mode stuff makes up for it. Also, it seems deadset on installing the EA Download Manager ... it tried forcing itself on my computer (along with Adobe AIR) when I first installed Ambitions, tried to get me to install it again after the installation, and now every time I open the launcher I get an error message. Game still works, so whatever.

I've had problems with torrents in the past, mostly with TS2. I have the base game, WA and HELS all purchased and legal on my computer, so I'm hoping I won't run into problems with this torrent.

Title: Re: Ambitions Torrent
Post by: Erry on 2010 June 01, 16:56:38
Instead of torrenting, you guys can download through links, if you'd prefer.

Just a simple Google search of 'The Sims 3 Ambitions Megaupload' should work, it'll give you lots of links, none containing megaupload, ironically.

Title: Re: Ambitions Torrent
Post by: BriarRosethorn on 2010 June 01, 16:58:38
I remember getting that error message when I tried to install a cracked copy of WA. I ended up just buying a legal copy, anyway, but I believe you just need to update your base game to the most recent patch and then try installing the expansion.

Title: Re: Ambitions Torrent
Post by: Claeric on 2010 June 01, 17:01:14
Oh, hahaha.

Open the launcher from the Sims 3 folder. In my experience, the launchers in each folder DO function differently, and the base game one may prompt you to patch. That same error happened to me, and I remember opening the base launcher and it worked.

Was your game fully patched before installing? You're supposed to do that to begin with, anyway. If the disc had every patch on it it would be significantly larger than it already is.

Title: Re: Ambitions Torrent
Post by: IAmTheRad on 2010 June 01, 17:03:34
I had to download the patch after uninstalling Ambitions, and got the patch through EADM. The Patch on the disk image didn't properly patch the game.

Title: Re: Ambitions Torrent
Post by: Claeric on 2010 June 01, 17:12:28
So is this a general ambitions discussion now? For just one post at least I'm gonna make it one.

This is oddly the ONLY shot I've seen of world editing. The lots are preset sizes which is actually not too much of a bad thing, since it makes it easier to plop down the right size, but at the same time...longer lots would be nice.

Title: Re: Ambitions Torrent
Post by: BriarRosethorn on 2010 June 01, 17:16:08
Mm, longer lots would be nice, though the fact that Ambitions adds new lots at all is fantastic. I always thought it was stupid that you had to learn how to use CAW to add lots to a world. It's just grossly overcomplicated when it'd be simple to plop them down in-game like we could in TS2.

Title: Re: Ambitions Torrent
Post by: Claeric on 2010 June 01, 17:18:14
I had been working on a Sunset Valley to suit my needs, but in reality I pretty much only added a couple roads(but a ton of lots).

And it is way too much effort, as you have to replace all the scenery and lots and spawners, too.

I'm sure modders will figure out new lots sizes soon enough.

Title: Re: Ambitions Torrent
Post by: brownlustgirl on 2010 June 01, 17:24:29
Yeah, I am still waiting on that world, Claeric. I love the amount of lots you placed in it.

Is the lot editor from the Ambitions torrent or the patch. Have you tried placing lots with it and is it successful?

Title: Re: Ambitions Torrent
Post by: IAmTheRad on 2010 June 01, 17:25:49
You can place the lots wherever you want, as long as there's clearance on both sides and it's level enough for it.

They added that feature in edit town so you can add the new lot types (the old neighbourhoods are not updated with Ambitions lots). As long as you change the lot type from residential to whatever you want, that is.

Title: Re: Ambitions Torrent
Post by: BriarRosethorn on 2010 June 01, 17:26:16
I fiddled with CAW for a bit to try and create an Apocalypse neighbourhood for the Apocalypse Challenge I rewrote for TS3, and gave up. I didn't have enough patience to create anything of good quality.

I suppose I'll return the topic to the subject of the torrent. My new ETA flip-flops between 1 day and 6 days now, so that's an improvement. It doesn't help that I have a connection speed that is only marginally faster than dial-up.

Title: Re: Ambitions Torrent
Post by: Claeric on 2010 June 01, 17:27:23
"Level enough"?

Oh no, I hope that doesnt mean ti has to be relatively level, and instead that it can't be excessively steep...

Also, I don't htink I'll finish my updated Sunset Valley. It has too much tearing and too many visible lot edges. I don't want to bother.

Title: Re: Ambitions Torrent
Post by: IAmTheRad on 2010 June 01, 17:36:47
Level enough as in relatively level. Like you can't build on a steep hill.

Title: Re: Ambitions Torrent
Post by: Claeric on 2010 June 01, 17:40:04
I'm getting the base game error myself, now. From using the launcher to patch, not even installing the game. The launcher, judging from the icons on the bottom, seems to think I installed ambitions. Great. I need to reinstall I think...:\

Title: Re: Ambitions Torrent
Post by: BriarRosethorn on 2010 June 01, 17:46:39
I'm still downloading the patch. I don't even have Ambitions on my computer at all, as it's still torrenting, so we'll see if I get an error message as well.

Title: Re: Ambitions Torrent
Post by: Claeric on 2010 June 01, 17:56:27
I guess I may as well just reinstall anyway. I've already backed up my documents sims 3 folder...Rather than getting everything installed and trying the patch again, I'll wait until ambitions finishes and install it all at once, I guess. :\ Assuming the patch breaks it for you, too.

Enjoy.
Thanks for the link.

I was able to play this game without using the cracks.  I am using PowerISO to mount the iso file and am using Windows Vista.

I figured I'd let you guys know since playing it without cracks is better than fussing with cracks which will make it so you can't update the game and whatnot.  Not sure which other programs besides PowerISO let you get past whatever CD checks they have in the game.

I erm... don't use AM. Just doesn't have what I want that I can't get from other mods, personally.

They are incredibly irritating. I have a pretty craptastic Internet connection and sometimes, it quits on me and stops seeding my torrents, but I at least try to keep it seeding as long as possible for other people. It's just basic torrent etiquette.

Title: Re: Ambitions Torrent

Mine's consistent and claims to have 2.5 hours.

Is it pathetic that I'm almost mostly excited for CASTable cielings, floor edges (oh god castable floor edges oh god), and light spreading off lot edges?

No longer will I have to finagle lights to be just so positioned and brightened that they don't create a lot edge seam...<3

With how often I build lots, even lots just for myself, that alone is a godsend. I would PAY five dollars for that one and only that one fix.

Plus the patch apparently adds custom content icons to downloads put in the new documents mods folder. Freaking yesssssssss

So the broken lighting is fixed? I know they probably won't get rid of the bloom (although I wish they would) but the messed up lighting really bothered me.

I still have close to 2 hours before my download finishes. I'm at 64% right now and I'm getting 600+ KB/s which is faster than most things I've downloaded in the past.

All we have to do is move the items in the mod/packages folder to the new folder? With CASt floor edges, I guess I should remove the HP default recolor .package. Sounds exciting, just wish the lights work as they did before WA.

Title: Re: Ambitions Torrent
Post by: Claeric on 2010 June 01, 21:14:36
CASTable floor edges and cielings adds an entire new level of building to the game, for me. There are lots of things I'd avoid simply because I didn't want the horrible cieling or the edges of floor tiles (like balconies. I never build balconies because they look like shit.).

So excite.

So this torrent is pretty much everywhere now. That's the fastest 4.5GB's I've ever downloaded (TorrentSeed). I wonder if I should start fiddling with this install now, or wait til I have a bit more patience. I don't know how ALT + TAB'ing became so important to me, but I was pissed when it started crashing the game (HELS fixed it). I'm just hoping it's not broken anymore.

You'll need to make a new resource.cfg to go into the Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Mods folder. Not one outside.

All it does is point towards the \Package folder. Not sure if you can just put mods in the mods folder itself. I'd rather keep my stuff organized via the Packages folder personally

Torrenting sucks balls. Which is why some amazing bastard has supplied everyone with a direct download. No parts, no file hosts, just a straight link. Works in any download accelerator, though I managed to only get ~300kb/s, but it's better than 0.3 kb/s. It's the Vitality .iso as well, and I can confirm that it works perfectly. Only catch is you have to unrar a few times.

You can also replace the one you're torrenting with the finished file and seed it.

This pleases me greatly. It started off a little slow, but now I'm getting over 2.2MB/s with that link, and it's definitely going to beat the torrent I started downloading 6.5 hours ago which is only averaging ~170kB/s. So, if anyone's torrent is still not near completion, this is a great alternative.

The download's ETA is 1 day and the torrent's ETA is 3 days for me right now.

Neither of which really makes me happy, but I guess I just need to wait it out and see which one finishes, first. I just keep telling myself I will have Ambitions soon enough. I will just need to wait a bit longer than others. It is torture reading about other people playing it and looking at their screenshots, yet I cannot look away.

EDIT: The download just died on me and I had to start it over. It was running at 20 kB/s before it crapped out on me. If I don't have this downloaded by tomorrow, I'm just going to suck it up and cough up the forty bucks to buy it.

That's what happened to me as well. It appeared to be finished downloading, but the file was broken and I couldn't extract it. The file's supposed to be 4.2 gigabytes, I believe, but when I checked the filesize of the download on my computer, it was only 1.5 gigabytes, which makes me think it only partially downloaded, then quit on me. This happened twice to me.

After it was finished downloading, I unzipped it with 7-zip. When the unzipping was done, an error message popped up telling me the file was broken. I still got a full sized ISO,  and it still seemed to work normally. However halfway through installation I got some cryptic error message and it stopped.

I've already set it to allocate a high amount of bandwidth, but is there anything else I can try to help the speed along a bit? Perhaps changing some kind of setting in BitTorrent?

I used the FTP link someone posted in this forum and it took about 2.5 hours from start to finish.

For those considering torrrents, here are some tips:

-It's the first days the game is released so it's quite normal that the seeder/ leecher ratio is coocoo. Because it's such a huge file, many people with limited bandwith are gonna hit and run, it sucks but that's just the way public trackers work. You can use a private tracker for better seeder/leecher ratios.
-There is a good FAQ on the uttorent website for setting up a client to maximize speeds. Things like port-forwarding, firewall settings and router setup can have a huge impact on your speeds. If you force encryption, allow incoming legacy connections to be uncrypted on slow torrents.
I just skimmed through this article which is updated from march of this year:
http://www.bootstrike.com/Articles/BitTorrentGuide/ (http://www.bootstrike.com/Articles/BitTorrentGuide/)
If you are a noob and/or you are running the application's default settings for torrents, chances are they can be improved by following those steps.
***
If all else fails and you realize your internet speed just plain sucks, you can look into calling your ISP and requesting a temporary on demand increase in speed.

For a few bucks I can increase my speed significantly for 24hours by calling customer service and just get billed for it later. I'm not in the US though but it may be worth a try for some of you.

On a precautions note, VPN trials are great to cover your tracks when downloading such a popular file. Many companies offer trials for their pay service but you may also choose to use OpenVPN (free but slows down the connection for many).

I think my connection just plain sucks. As of right now, I'm living with my parents (yeah, I'm so cool) so I have no control over any of the Internet settings and don't know too much about it, since I've never had any control over it.

I'm okay with computers in general, but I am a n00b when it comes to this sort of thing, though I have used torrents in the past. I suppose if the speed continues to be unbearable, I will poke my computer whiz friend tonight and see if she is able to help improve the speed. She's usually the person who solves any and all problems I'm having with my Internet connection and/or computer.

I haven't ventured into patching or EP2 waters yet. I'm reading, watching and asking questions to be prepared when the time comes.
When WA was released I jumped the gun and was very sorry that I did because all my game saves were unplayable. My current town is wonderful and stuffed with beauty and CC which makes it important for me to be cautious about how to proceed with updates.

If you need a disc-check bypass I think it's in the test file.

http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com/ts3/test/ (http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com/ts3/test/)

Problems have been reported about the game refuting AM's compatibility with the current patch. Pescado is working on it.
You're welcome to try it and give feedback. ( I would only attempt to try it on a new game until the kinks are ironed out)

@Sablesasha: I use Poweriso on Vista and XP and virtually mount the disc to save my drive from wear and tear.
  • Just install and restart the computer. Left click the .iso and set the number of drives to 1 or more from the context menu ---consequently the option to Mount to drive: x  (a letter will now be assigned) will appear in the same menu. The drive and the virtually mounted disc will now appear under the "my computer" interface alongside your regular DVD or CD drive.
You can also browse and retrieve your game disc files this way, for example when trying to find the original .ini or .exe files to restore installed game files to original state before patching.

Title: Re: Ambitions Torrent
Post by: Sexual Innuendo on 2010 June 03, 00:20:40
Downloaded the .rar, extracted it like I should. I go to install the game, and it tells me I need to update before I can proceed with the install.
After a few seconds of trying to update, the installer tells me that "Update of The Sims 3(tm) failed, Setup is unable to continue".

I have all EPs and SPs, pirated, and the original game legally.

Anyone know what the issue is?

(Also, my friend is having the exact same issue as I am.)

Nevermind, I didn't realize that the original game needed to be patched AGAIN.

@grillcheesesammich, I just rearranged my Mods folder with the resource.cfg directions at MTS, but despite adding the file you listed it's still rejecting me. This was also a strange annoyance when I just had the base game. I'd enable the disc bypass in the config, but it would still ask for a disc. I had a legal copy so it wasn't a big deal, and everything else in AM worked as planned, it was just the disc issue.

Title: Re: Ambitions Torrent
Post by: morriganrant on 2010 June 03, 00:46:25
Ahh, thanks very much. It installed like a dream! How are you two accessing it without the disc?

On the disc is a Vitality folder, inside that is a Ambitions folder, inside it is a cracked .exe and .dll. I changed the name of the original .dll and .exe for backup purposes, and am using the cracked .exe. I have no idea what a Mac user would do, the few times I have gone about finding cracked .app files, I have come up mostly empty handed.

AM appears to not be working correctly right now, so it's no-cd feature is pretty worthless until we can figure out what the issue is.

Aw thanks! I just followed the XML hack by pet_peeve, I think, that let me bypass the launcher. I've known about people bypassing it but I never felt the need, until now. I was all eager because it was finally working after I put it in, but of course, I then got to the saved-game screen and it asked for me to put in my valid CD. Death.

Hopefully with the release of the updated AM this will all be resolved.

Title: Re: Ambitions Torrent
Post by: Orlando on 2010 June 03, 02:16:11
@Sparkles: Oh I see, you use the launcher to start the game. Pescado taught me not to do so from the posts on this forum, hence I use the .exe file from the game (TS3EP02.exe for example-- is that the correct name? I am sitting at a different computer) and pin it to my start menu for easy access. I edit those types of .exe files to get my computer to alot them more than 2GB of memory, a technique I learned from posts on this forum. You can also use 3Booter from here: http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com/smf/index.php/topic,15585.0.html (http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com/smf/index.php/topic,15585.0.html) but I'm not aware if it's working with Ambitions at this time.

Also I found an interesting post on demonoid which I am going to paste to you in msg as a reference.
It has typos and statements I don't agree with so I am not going to post in the threads.

Fill free to poke me with sticks for asking, but I did search (though most of it was in circles; I'm not that extensive of a pirate cat, sorry...) but has anyone find any good torrents for the Ambitions Prima Guide? Preferably a direct link that doesn't make you sign up to get to it and hasn't been taken down because of "copyright..." blah blah blah?

I know Sims Prima Guides are next to worthless, but I don't get paid until halfway through the month and frankly, I'm curious what to expect. Besides CTD's and all of that.

I'll download the gameplay.package someone put up earlier, but coding doesn't include many "shiny" photographs of the game/new stuffs. Or, you can just call me a brat for asking for too much and be patient. It's whatever.

So glad you're off to Uni and all, but if you're not yet 18, please just fuck off. Actually, why don't you just fuck off anyway, the noise to signal ratio is overwhelming.

Oh God, witch, I just noticed your signature line.  I had forgotten all about Alphatard's "wur is degrees!?!" thing.  Is our children learning?

My torrent finally finished just now. I'm installing it.

I noticed when I read the installation instructions that the last step is "Die like the rest." Creepy much?  :-\

EDIT: I'm 19, actually. Though for some reason, my forum profile says I'm 18, even though my birth year is 1990.

Die like the rest is their motto, I believe they are alluding to being top dog in regards to releases and cracks, and that any others will go down due to being slow and inferior.

And as for the 19-18 issue. Read the FAQs.

Okay, some of you retards are obviously noobs, but no one gives a FLYING FUCK how long your torrent is taking. Go do your homework while you wait, or something. Seriously, the next person who posts about how many more hours their torrent is going to be will have his or head TORN off by me. No one cares about your speshul snowflakism.

Post useful stuff about what EA fucked up the ass.

The fucked up simbots in the ass, real good; I mean really, how does a bot - which is made out of metal, scraps no less - become a ghost upon death? Just no.

Would you deny a soul to a non-carbon based lifeform?

Ahh, thanks very much. It installed like a dream! How are you two accessing it without the disc?

On the disc is a Vitality folder, inside that is a Ambitions folder, inside it is a cracked .exe and .dll. I changed the name of the original .dll and .exe for backup purposes, and am using the cracked .exe. I have no idea what a Mac user would do, the few times I have gone about finding cracked .app files, I have come up mostly empty handed.

AM appears to not be working correctly right now, so it's no-cd feature is pretty worthless until we can figure out what the issue is.

Me, I change the Name of the cracked .exe and leave the original .exe as it installed. Then I start the game by the cracked .exe.

The Twallanian NoCD functions just fine for noCD purposes. Messing with cracked executables introduces its own source of hassles.

So am I correct in inferring that if I'm using awesomemod and disabling the cd-check I can run the game off of the original exe without an issue?

/noob question

Gee, I don't know. Disabling the CD-check would probably make it stop checking for the CD, but oooh, that one is so hard to figure out... better ask that question in more inappropriate threads to be sure!

Yes, You can!

Unfortunately only Sims3 is under Pescados wings (claws?), and you have to update your awesomemod.

Look, file sharing is not a new thing. It's not a complicated concept either.

If EA is charging to download the expansion from their site and some other site is providing a download of it for free common sense says that EA probably didn't give it to them and tell them to provide it to everyone free of charge. Do the math!

As for getting in trouble with EA? Will they send men in suits to your house to collect you in a black van with dark windows? Probably not. Do they collect 'usage data' by phoning home in the background when you run the game. Yes. Could some of this data potentially provide them indication that someone obtained the game/expansion by less than legitimate means? Possibly. Are there ways around sending usage data to EA? Yes.

You have to weigh the pros and cons for yourself and use some common sense. I'm not sure what you want people to tell you. If you should download it? That's up to you!
