Title: Wondering about how certain XMLs work
Post by: Claeric on 2010 May 26, 18:58:02
I wish MATY had a Sims 3 modding discussion forum or something because I feel like I'm doing it wrong asking this sort of question here.

ANYWAY there's an XML for preset personalities. I assume these personalities are loaded at random for randomly generated sims (though they have names and it mentions icons, as if you could choose them in CAS, but we know that's not true).

SO: The question: Would simply following the format in this XML and adding to the end of it work properly? Would that create a new personality subset that could be loaded at random?

We have one. You're in it now. It's just that we don't allow total randoms to post in it because they tend to ask dumb questions when they should be LURKING MOAR.

As for that particular XML, it is useless and does nothing.

aw, really? That sucks. Does that mean the game literally randomly tosses together sims? I thought they were presets. Laaaaame.

Yes, but let's face it: Did you really want there to be only about 60 different sims like in TS2?

Well, I would've liked to be able to force specific personality sets. Maybe not force them to be the only possibilities, but ensuring that certain sets exist would've been nice.
