Title: XML trait listing query
Post by: Luisa on 2009 August 14, 20:03:00
So I was just browsing the XML lisiting of the traits for my sim:

  <Trait>Evil</Trait>
  <Trait>LongDistanceFriend</Trait>
  <Trait>Genius</Trait>
  <Trait>HighRoller</Trait>

Wondering what the last trait shown above is, I don't recognise it?

Ta. :)

Was "Lucky" listed?

Nah, he's not a lucky sim, although I can see why you'd think that. His other traits are:

  <Trait>FastLearner</Trait>
  <Trait>Attractive</Trait>
  <Trait>MultiTasker</Trait>
  <Trait>ProfessionalSlacker</Trait>
  <Trait>Charismatic</Trait>
  <Trait>Childish</Trait>
  <Trait>FamilyOriented</Trait>

Oh, I misread and thought you were looking at the master list. Is he by any chance named after someone on this forum?

Or wait - it seems the purchased rewards are also listed as traits (attractive, fast learner). Maybe it's one of those? Often they have different names internally to the game than shown on the GUI.

Yeah I exported that list from the game using the worldbuilderoutput command. Wonder if anyone's written a full listing somewhere online of what all the doodah's are. :)

I'm going to guess that HighRoller means he has the Opportunist reward, which means they get more reward out of any successful Opportunity.

Agree. Traits and perks are mixed, in that list (maybe the perks are in fact hidden traits?).

I believe the traits xml in game data is nicely commented -- you could look at that to compare. Not exactly sure what it's called, but it's the one that controls which traits become available at what age.

Check here for more info about the non-used traits: http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com/smf/index.php/topic,15465.0.html

There must be a lot in the coding that is reserved for future use. There's an xml for "Play Piano". There's no Piano in the game for now.
