Title: Neighbourhood File crashing Sims 2
Post by: Waller on 2009 August 06, 23:47:32
Hello,

The Sims 2 has been playing up to an extent recently, but it has been manageable with a bit of boolprop useshaders false and some good old fashioned computer bashing. Today however it has turned into the demon from hell! Aside from the occasional "emulation software" error, it is crashing during the loading screen to get to neighbourhood choice screen.

After much teeth gnashing, reinstalling, patch loading etc. I have found the problem file - my saved neighbourhood file. Now what the heck do I need to do to it to get it to work again. The Sims runs fine without that folder, but crashes with it. If anyone suggests deleting all my saved simmies - I may cry. Please don't. Any help more than welcome - and feel free to abuse if needs be, especially if the cure is simple!

Thanks :)
xx

I'm so non-awesome, but if I may be so bold as to suggest putting that file into your game, extracting your sims with SimPE, recreating the neighborhood, THEN deleting the offending file.

The obvious question: Do you have any backups of the neighbourhood?

If not, SimPE cloning seems to be the way to go.

Good news all round - removing Securom has fixed any issues I appear to have ever had with the game, and it only took 2 years for it to take hold of my laptop! Crisis averted. Many thanks for the help :)
