Title: Extracting TS3 Music from the game files
Post by: VeilSethekk on 2009 June 23, 22:18:35
Has anyone figured out how to get the music tracks from TS3 out of it's game files so you can listen to them outside of the game? I know that this was the case for TS2, in that you can extract the specific music station .package files to get the .mp3s, and that TS1 had the actual .mp3 files on the game discs. I haven't seen specific music station .package files for TS3, which means that there's another way to do this.

There's a wiki page with the sound and video filetypes (http://www.sims2wiki.info/wiki.php?title=Sims_3:Audio_Video); look for these resources in FullBuild1.package and extract them.

After extracting the resources you'll need to convert them into a more conventional audio format.

Assuming we're dealing with the run o' the mill EA formats, you can try using the tools posted here (http://www.ppmsite.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=309232). Sound eXchange (http://www.ppmsite.com/forum/download.php?id=29524) in particular seems to be suited to perform the audio conversion.

Good luck!
